Okay now if you show us how to animate him like idle animation, run animation, death animation etc. and combine it all inside unity you will be a true legend !
@Chris Powell Thank you so much for your comment. In reality I know what are the steps to make all this but I am not sure that I am able to do it(I am very bad with photoshop and new to unity) so a video like you said will be perfect. Just want to ask you to give me the name of the youtube channel and video's name because I don't like opening random links. Thank you in advance.
@Chris Powell So I am currently going through unity’s complete beginners course and along with that I am following tutorials of CodeMonkey, Brackeys and some more. But yea I really need a good channel about explaining photoshop on how to make characters and animate them. So I’ll take a look at your suggestions. Thank you once again for sharing all this information with me. Have a nice day/night ! :)
wow some of the bois here explained it super well but i would add that you can just add a ps importer addon to unity export the psd file in there and animate the guy with the parts in one empty object (blackthornprod animated his characters like that if you wanna check him out maybe)
when he creates a new layer and "masks it over the top" to change the color of body parts, just press on the layer you want to turn into a mask and press down "Ctrl-Alt-G" all at once, took me a while to figure that out so thought I'd let everyone know here!
Cutest instructor ever. So peaceful. Keep it up mate. Always avoides designing bc of anxiety but ur vids are so calming... this time i ain't giving up. Thx
Great video thank you Thomas. It was a bit quick in parts but I get the gist of what you've done. It would be really interesting to now see you take this character into Unity and give it basic animation. Understanding that full cycle from creation to actually working in-game would be awesome if you could!
I just love your tutorials as a beginner. You are the only one designer who provides such beginner tutorials for designers & developers like us. Thank you. You are awesome. Love ❤U 3000.😊
Amazing tutorial thanks a bunch! Until 3:43 it took me "only" 2 hours 13 minutes... (shape is a bit more complex, but yeah feeling like a total amateur here)
Absolutely, alas this fraudulent ‘game developer’ decided to rake in on selling the dream. All smoke and mirrors and capitalize on charging 700’dollar for content that is available for free. Luring people with blatantly stolen artwork from others.
@@nitras.designI agree. Taking a character from google, copy the shape, and then promoting this to other people as a way of "making a 2D characters" is totally ignoring a whole workfield full of artists that are dedicating their time and love for developing character art. Maybe if he would say "hey this is a good way to practice, make sure you also practice anatomy and follow character designers and illustrators to learn from" it wouldn’t be looking like he’s just stealing stuff to make money. The videos are super helpful to learn about game design and stuff, my boyfriend is doing the course now. But me,being an illustrator, seeing these kind of classes…. It just seems a bit disrespectful imo
Nice video good job with the character it looks good. Just an idea for the next video try to create maybe a character that is not human like a rock thing or something that would be used as an enemy in the game.
Thoughts on photoshop vs photoshop elements for 2d art? Sorry if this has been asked before. I’m pretty new to this space, I used to do some sprite work on idraw as a kid on rpgmaker and it seems like a fun hobby for me to pick back up in my spare time.
Just bought the 2D art program right before this video dropped. I've been eyeing it for a while to go with my FTGD class, so I was excited to see a sale on it! I'm probably going to watch this video a few more times and follow along, mostly because I've been hitting an artist's block in my FTGD project and this really helped get the juices flowing. I can't wait to dive into the 2D art class tonight, also!
I noticed when naming your layers for the characters limbs you were using your prospective and not the characters, like the rights and lefts were opposite from what they should....is that standard practice....I always assumed you should name it based on how there facing, since he's facing you, his right is opposite then your right...is that not the way to do it? Or does it boil down to personal preference?
I don't know what to think of this video. Would be nice if you weren't using a proprietary expensive program. Also I've never met anyone who matches their shirt and shoes to the EXACT same color as their hair.
@@hellshitfuckbruh If that were true, Adobe wouldn't be rich as f*ck and think they could pull the crap they have been. Most people use a legit version if they are using it for commercial purposes.
Sir please recommend an online job for me like typing job🥺... I'm a graphic artist / encoder in my previous work and I also learned excel spreadsheet Microsoft word etc... I'm not working now please suggest any kind of noble work thanks 🙏👍
Hi dude, dont give up when something gets hard! A few things I picked up was to create a rounded rectangle first draw the rough shape of the rectangle with the normal rectangle tool first and then click on the layer it created the shape too, there are images of "rounded corners" on the properties tab above the layers tab when you have selected the rectangle layer, change the pixel amount to something like 25 to get nice rounded corners! Also I couldn't figure out what he did when he said he masked a layer over the top of his body but it turns out you just click on the body layer then add a new layer normally then press "Ctrl-Alt-G" all at once in order to make that color only appear over the top of another or in this case the body! Hope this can help you if you bother to give photoshop another try!
What is your advice : what is the easiest way to create a 3d character. my objective is i want a character for my game called path to the west and i want it to look cute and stylized but i do not want to waste making everything from scratch and don't even pay anyone. is there any great tool you know😕
TF are you guys talking about, Unity and Unreal can do 2D perfectly fine? Since like years, and probably decades? Anybody seeing this should probably not to listen to answers about Unreal and Unity which show so little knowledge about Unreal and Unity... Godot is just yet another engine, all 3 of them are valid choices - but for Unity I can confirm that their documentation is GREAT, every little feature has not only a description, but also example code. Documentation being incredibly important if you're starting out.
This vid is a year old so this probably won't get read, but I did find the format of this video a little frustrating if I'm being honest mate. I think any time you do a guide where you are showing peolpe how to do something, explaining everything you are doing is really important. The click bait "dont in 10 minutes!" isn't what made me click, it's that you where giving a PS tutorial and I've seen you use PS on your livestreams and you're a wiz. Thing is, I'm not a wiz, so this was super hard to follow along with and I end up just going and finding another video. Just some honest feedback from someone who is actively going through your videos to make a game.
