If you're thinking of something you want to draw the first step is to find refrence. Having trouble thinking of what to draw? Sometimes stop thinking and just draw helps me.
Also, small tip to make your character more recognizable, if you’re not going for it to be humanoid, try to give it a unique shape/silhouette I like to do this whenever I draw monsters, it also can be useful if it’s a horror series because then the viewer will be easily be able to recognize the shadow or a distant shape of the monster without thinking it’s something else
Character design of Team Fortress 2 characters are very geniusly made Their unique face models and a cartoony aesthetic and bright colour scheme. It made these characters recognizable.
That’s my same question... The answer? A talent that he was born with or he just practiced for a LOOOOONG time. Of course the latter seems the most likely one but until he tells us, we won’t know for sure.
@@AnotherPlagueDoctorGamingpeople who practice for a long time often have it brushed off as talent so i dont usually say that. I feel like alot of "talent" is still brought by unrecognized practice as you're just doing something you love doing and it may not even be related to the thing youre recognized for having talent in, or perhaps just extra knowledge. I dont believe its usually something people are truly just born with it, and when they are, they generally have cons that came with it.
When i make characters i like to first think of what theyre meant to be. Are they a guiding mentor or just a random carpenter? This lets me keep their design linked to a single major theme but everyone has their own style to making characters
Now that's a problem i never had, i always think of 1-4 ways of how a character will look like, and then, when i choose one, i reuse the others on random characters
Your videos were the first thing that made me become interested in drawing. When i started learning how to draw better, your videos helped me a lot rn I'm making money by doing commissions for people. Thank you.
You’re actually a good teacher, keep it up! I’ve always seen art as almost a way to play with reality.. and I just see so much of that in your art too, genuinely inspiring.
All of these steps sound simple but it actually opened my eyes and now I'm actually able to see all these different things I was having trouble with before.
Very average creativity, try coming up with a cool character in your head with an awesome design and backstory, it's really easy, doesn't take more than a minute. It's more-so the drawing process itself that's impressive.
For me, I always start with mouth and eyes. Drawing a simple face immediately gives me a direction to go because now I have both their expression and personality. I branch out from there and make features that compliment that personality. I then create the pose, and while I'm doing that I think about the setting which gives me ideas for the clothing (like you mentioned). Once I've done that THEN I make a character sheet so that I can get more specific with the character. Personally, I have a hard time making the character sheet first because I don't have a whole lot of confidence in my ideas during that stage. Having the simple sketch done first gives me ideas and more confidence in the character's story. I draw a simple version of the character first then use the character sheet to get more specific with the design.
