I've also started using grids for referencing popular character faces with the same spacing, angles, start and ending of line principles you mentioned here. Depending on the character's complexity I go with a 3 X 3 box enclosing the head, or less if simpler characters / if I want less guidelines (maybe just box with a horizontal and vertical midline). And I also keep those as future reference. Maybe you could try making some shorts using this method with popular characters and boost the channel, because I swear this is such an effective method I've just only recently come to fully understand its full potential after wasting several years, but surprise surprise, it's barely talked about.
