I feel like giving up, I am so bad :/ no matter what I do, the jaw shape of my character doesn't seem like Kooleen's and also hair... literally impossible for me to make the hair...
I focused on the guidelines to draw to save for later so I could keep practicing in that style and same the hair is incredibly hard but it took kooleen YEARS

Guys the thing with this kind of guideline(the half circle across the face feom botton to top) will make your characters look more like balls. You can do it at furst but dont focus too much in it or your characters will look like frogs

For anyone who wants this style but DOESNT want Gender specific features or same face syndrome, the solution is simple: Keep the way you color skin, eyes, and hair the same. Then adjust the features of the face shape, eye, lip, and nose to suit the character rather than the gender.

Tbh i always find that the jaw is the hardest part to draw. My face shape always look weird at the jaw part 🥲 And the mouth i draw always looks weird. Even happy expression looks nt happy 😂
this is really good beginner tutorial but i can't see what you do with your brushes, are you changing the opacity of your airbrush? when you're rendering the face and you do the messy initial shading, how are you blending it out with the airbrush? is it using the original shaded colour or the skin colour? my airbrush puts colour down, not just blending so when i try to "blend it out" it doesn't work, it just makes the colour darker
This was a great tutorial. But there was one thing I was wondering about and that's the layers. How do you usually do your layers, like what goes on which layers. are the shading and the blush on the same layer? Just things like that are what I'm confused on.
