Yea, it so I can see my mistakes, lol, check this one out, it's part 2 which is much better. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
I know practice is the key but man, watching people draw makes me feel some kind of way because I can’t do the same lol. I guess I’m just a competitive person and I want to be as good if not better, if that makes any sense
I know how you feel, I see some peoples art on line and it makes ME want to give up, but I know deep down inside me that I can do what they do as well, so I keep practicing.
lol same i get awesome ideas and scenes its just putting it on paper and the small details i just need to develop my own style i suppose. anyways good luck man and dont give up!
don't give up on yourself so soon I wasn't born drawing comics it took YEARS to get this far, AND I still have a long way to go, but thanks for watching my video.
I’m nearly crying because of how well this worked... I have tried drawing for a long time and have been SOO BAD at it. But this was a great confidence boost and I will continue to draw knowing this channel is the fix of what I used to think were my bad drawing skills
There is no such thing as bad drawing skills, it's like playing the piano the more you play the better you become. There is a great artist inside you, you just have to keep looking till you find him.
Dude I can't thank you enough, mine might not be perfect, but it is 200x better than when I used to attempt to draw a body for a character. Seriously, thank you so much.
If you are having issues drawing or following along: remember, even the same artist won't be able to draw the same drawing perfectly. We have our own ways, our own touch. When you start don't focus so much on perfection. You need to focus on getting that drawing done. Once you have one done you will be able to see the final product and have a better understanding of the process. Then try again. The process is what you need to get your hand used to. You can't do that in your first try. I am sure this artist has done many drawings. If not he wouldn't be teaching it. Process of knowing something: Practice: do it the way others do it Change: do it your own way Teach: show others how you do it You, and most of us are in the first stage. This stage is difficult because you feel like you can't. Just keep doing it over and over again. You will get there. Make sure to save your uggly drawings. I promise you will lean to love them.
Thanks for saying this. I’m trying to improve my drawing and I’m a perfectionist which makes it hard for me to keep drawing. I needed this comment to remind me not everything is going to be perfect.
@@nathrianaismail5750 Yea it's like riding a bike or driving a car, it takes time before you get good at it, and if you are doing something you love you are willing to put as much time in it as you need.
Your technique is really amazing for drawing the superhero body it has helped me to better understand the form when constructing it. I am so happy I found your channel and wish you good luck on all your upcoming books. I also am an inspiring artist and have started my own comicbook creation, all your advice is greatly appreciated .Can you plz do a female body construction next? #comicbookgreatest
I've watched this video a half a dozen times easily. The whole torso system is ingenious. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! This is the most underrated channel on RU-vid imho.
If you like that one check out part 2 to the video where I slow down and give more detail. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
like what is this? i watched like 12 videos all with much more views (not to discredit 50k ofc) and then on page 213214213 i find one thats actually helpful
Brian, you made a great tutorial. I paint and draw since the mid-nineties, but i met some really awful teachers, especially in the drawing department. I just can't stop drawing or painting, so I always draw together with the video. Drawing the human form is always a problem like 'where do i begin' ? In life drawing classes i saw a lot of people with this problem, but you solved a great problem here with the circle/oval as a starting point ....
I just picked up a pencil for the first time in years and have to relearn so much. I am drawing a new book. I will follow your classes and make my book. Thank you for the helpful information!
Drawing for 2 straight years, and never learned this. I'm going to try this, based off other comments it helped s lot, so I'm going to say it will work for me. So tysm for helping me !
It is the simplest was to draw the body. a few say i was going to fast, so i slowed it down and added detail to the body, in part 2. so after you see that one, please check out pt. 2 to it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
Been drawing a long time and am pretty comfortable with the male figure, but I want to try this cool trick. Thanks, and you have a very accurate sense of muscle positioning.
@@BrianProctor Make your edits better Like What the hell was that title at the first of the video? (Oh so simple) that doesn't look good in a video, It actually made me watch the video but it's just it doesn't look good on the video itself. Also the font you used wasn't good. I recommend using Camtasia 9 for editing your videos
Omg, this is the first time in my life that I was able to draw a male with the right proportions! I also love your technique with the oval for drawing the torso, this video breaks down everything. Thank you very much. Keep uploading!!!
Oh I will, check out part 2 it goes into more detail. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html and here are more for you to check out as well. ru-vid.com/show-UCaxN2CbgAyENbYZCWAspqBwvideos
This is actually extremely helpful! I really appreciate your bluntness and getting straight to the point of the video without rambling on.I wish I had you as a teacher!
Drawing is like writing, when you first learned your letters you had to write them over and over again. Same with drawing, not too many people get it perfectly the first time. draw it again and again until it works out, and I promise you it will in time.
Thank you SO MUCH for making this video! I have tried so many different ways to draw the body and none of them worked for me. This just helped me out so much and I have majorly improved my drawing skills because of this video.
Your Welcome, I'm glad to hear it, here is another vid that is an easier way to do it, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5oAYawIc7Lo.html But don't forget to check out the channel where there is a lot more great drawing tutorials. ru-vid.com/show-UCaxN2CbgAyENbYZCWAspqBwvideos
brian protoc:and then you want to make your hand like this same as the leg me:wtf dude slow down danmit brian:and yooouuur done me:im not done how were you so fast
Thought I was too "amateur" to really get this down but it actually ended up being the most helpful how-to I've seen so far. You might not see, but I just wanna say thanks for this.
Fear not I have the answer for your oval circle problem in in this video, right at the beginning, check it out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0I_mq8yS_gA.html
@@BrianProctor I'm a pretty new artist and this is my first time trying to draw a human body, I know It won't be good the first time and that I'll have to practice it but my perfectionism is like: It must be perfect the first time!
My daughter is like that, but thinking that way can hurt you by making you give up from time to time, my advice is to draw something fun and funny that you don't care about, something that you will throw away when you finish, that way you get in your drawing practice and and learn to loosen up at the same time.
Thank You Sheryl, That is one of the best complements I have ever gotten. When a parent takes time out to write, because they see the improvements in their child, that lets me know what I am doing is really helping someone. Thank you again.
@@shellyking7057 dude he didn't even mention anything about suicide and he wasn't being mean he just said that he can't draw you're being such a hypocrite saying that he shouldn't say mean thing and that suicide is serious and then you proceed to say that he should get a life and stuff like that there's no need to get so defensive about a joke.
Holy shit thank you I have been looking for a male body tutorial for the longest fucking time, they always say “alright now find the 3 heads down from the original head and draw your dorito shape for the torso” and I have been like wtf just tell me the fucking shapes! So thank you good sir, you have really made my day.
thanks for the tutorial! i am a artist (you can say) and draw cartoony figures, but i recently started to be fashonated of the concepts of games like overwatch and i just wanted to draw some. i started coloring my drawings using pro markers for skintone and copics for colour this video is great if you want to learn the male anatomy! really easy instructions and doesn't take a lot of your time to watch if you save the ground lines of what you drew following this video you can learn it without any videos/images thanks again! from "mr knight"
Drawing is easy when you break it down, it just that not to many people on youtube will do that, for them it's all about look at how good I can draw, not about let me help you draw better. So thanks for the great comment, and check out this video which is part 2 to that one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
Respect..you can't imagine how helpful this has been,I must have watched 30 different videos today and this is by far the most useable technique I've found..👍👏🇬🇧M
Glad you didn't give up, and that you got it, check out part 2 it easier, and I explain more. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
Since I don't have a million followers, I am able to reply to them, and since they took the time to write and say thank you, then that is the least I can do. I love to draw and create, and when I hear that someone is now able to start doing the same because of my videos, it lets me know that I am not wasting my time. So thank you for seeing that I reply to my comments. ru-vid.com
I’ve always been good at drawing but could never figure out how to draw a person. I did this 6 times in my sketch book and got it down. I can do it quickly now too. Thank you so much!!
YES! that's how you do it, over and over again and it will be locked into the brain (muscle memory) do that with all your drawings and you will start kicking out drawing like crazy.
COOL, because I am doing part 2 to this video where i slow down and give more detail on this, and it will be up later today, and with your bell on you will know when its up.
It's so nice to watch different kinds of videos like these and use them for individual characters, this one was good for a main middle aged guy character nice man
Nicely done, and well presented! I am reconnecting with my comic book art youth as I begin to incorporate sketch noting in my daily journaling. This is very helpful, encouraging, and inspiring.
thank you very much. If you didn't know I am trying to start an art studio to help artist, if you have a sec. check it out and share the link. www.indiegogo.com/projects/10-talents-studio-inc-artists-helping-artists-youtube-books/x/18646532#/
Yea I did that one on a whim, without thinking about going slow, and that is the biggest compliant about that video. So I did a part 2 and slowed it down. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SUpzozxJWVQ.html
Oh and thanks for buying the book, I know the price is a little high but I had a second party upload it to amazon and he set the price, but amazon set a starter price as well for printing which was only $2 under the book price.
@@BrianProctor I understand. Once you know something it's hard to go slow (for me at least). Anyway, it was awesome cause I was able to get the proportions done in like 15 minutes. That usually takes me a good hour!!
@@BrianProctor I was about to buy your old book the one for $8, but I was like c'mon don't be cheap! Get the latest and greatest! 😀 and yea I wish Amazon didn't own the world, but they do!! ☹️
@@SamsArtStudio Yeah, but don't forget that each book has something different in it more to learn, example: the action pose position book all girl action, has only female anatomy drawing, where the others don't,...food for thought.
Go for it, let your imagination soar, and do a book it doesn't have to be a long one, but there is no better feeling then to hold your first book in your hands, after putting so much time into it.
Thanks so much for this video!! I'm horrible at drawing, but I wanted to sketch some characters. Thanks to your great advice I've got the base down!! Practice makes perfect!!!
