Wow just wow. I have always seen water soluble graphite and thought why would someone use that. Now I see, you get the beautiful color of graphite but with a very smooth tone that looks excellent. I can see tons of uses for this thank you Colin and as always superb work my friend.

Sir, you're great! I got thse Aquarelle pencils after watching your video, and they became instantly, one of my favorite sketching pencils ever!! I used them on Arches Hot Pressed and the result is the best I had on any other paper! If only they made that paper, with a different warmer tone, like cream, ivory etc! It would take my sketches to the next level! Thanks for these wonderful sketches here! Hope you're doing well!!

This is really funny, yesterday, reordering my old art stuff, I found some old stumps of water soluble graft pencils ( 3 Rexel Cumberland Derwent Sketching light, medium and dark wash) , and I found myself wondering what I did with them years a go??? Still don't remember... But now I know what to with them now :-) love the effect! Great job Colin ;-) Lise

Hello sir, I'm most thankful for this review. I really enjoyed the vibe and style in which you reviewed these unique pencils. The drawing you did was also really nice. Earlier today I was at my local Michael's and almost got these to use them for a portfolio I'll be doing to apply to a 2d animation program. I now know I'll most definitely be picking them up. I have similar from Derwent & although I‘ve started Aquarell & the equivalent colour pencils, & tutorials, I‘m very interested in drawing & b&w graphite pictures. So am looking for subjects to copy to trial with my pencils. Thanks for the detailed drawing.

These look terrific Colin. One question. If you find you have gone too dark with a tone, can the pencil be lifted out again as you would do with watercolour?

nosineb It is possible to erase the graphite before you apply the water, however once they have been brushed with water it is difficult to erase mistakes: just like it is with watercolour.

Enjoyed your informative video. I just purchased some professional brushes similar to your own which I planned to use strictly for watercolor. Would you say it is safe to use them simultaneously with the graphite or better to get a dedicated one? (I decided to do that for gouache!) Thank you!

what I like about these pencils are that they stay permanent after they dry ..so you do not need to use a fixative.. wonder if you can get them in blocks..

in the portrait membership does it teach to draw the portrait or just how to color them with the pastels?

Thanks to you I bought them and I am super happy with them but for the love of god I can’t figure out how to sharpen them. FC trio 2001 sharpener keeps breaking them in larger hole and they are slightly larger than average pencil. Can you help me with finding something to sharpen them?

I use safety razor blades or a Stanley knife to sharpen mine but there are manual pencil sharpeners with larger holes to cater for different sizes of pencils.

Is there a considerable difference between these and the gray hues from the Albrecht durer collection?

Hi there! Thanks for your comment, there would be a difference between these as they are going to be a different make up. These are graphite where as the albrecht durer are more like a colouring pencil texture :-)
