6:46 absolute truth! Absolute. It's funny how we say that in old times people wore extremely elegant suits, even if they were not rich people. The fact is that until that period (let's say until the '50's more or less) luxury brands did not exist or they were not as strong as they are today; back then when ordinary people needed an elegant suit for important events of their lives, they went to a tailor to get a bespoke tailor made suit and they could do that easily because tailors were way more numerous than today and even the little towns have at least of couple of them. It's a crime we practically let this good habit be destroyed by unjustified diffusion of big and luxury brands, to the point that now many people desperately search for something truly personal to wear, since it's the only way to wear really comfortable suits and shoes. I'm not saying brands or luxury brands are the evil, but simply it cannot be the only way to get dressed since they cannot in any way "suit" you perfectly or at least only an experienced tailor could modify them to suit you as they should.

My friend from Ukraine came to visit me in Rome last October and she brought her sister with her. This past October was very warm in Rome, and they asked me why so many Italians were wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets in such hot weather. I explained how Italians have a rule where they dress for the season and not for the weather. Their reply was "that's a stupid rule". Young girls from Ukraine are also highly fashion conscious, but they wore shorts and tee shirts during the day because it was hot, and it made sense to them.
