Great video. I just got an immobilized brace today as I tore muscle on calf and left side of knee. My question is how do you go to the bathroom with the brace on? It goes from just above my ankle to almost my crotch. I am concerned that the brace might be too long. I shouldn’t be hindered from being able to sit on toilet.
If the brace is going into your groin too high, it’s possible it is too long and can be trimmed down by a therapist or orthotic fitting specialist. This is usually in office. Otherwise, I usually have patients loosen just the top Velcro strap and roll down the foam for toileting. It’s a pain but will keep it from getting in the way or soiled during toileting.
@@EquipMeOT thank you for responding. Unfortunately the brace I have has straight rods down the sides snd back to keep my leg straight. I only wish I could fold down.
When Dr's want you to start weight bearing, or take your first step, how did you build the confidence? I'm so scared of the feeling and the unknown if my knee may pop again. I'm sure they will start me in 2 weeks... I have slipped a couple of times with these annoying crutches and I get tingles from my toes to my hip.
