Tell me what your country's drinking ettiquettes are!! Also, if you've enjoyed this video, i might be doing another part focusing only on either korean drinking games & mannerisms mebbe..! lmk!!
In Philippines, we do what we call "Tagay". Where everyone drinks from one glass or shot glass. That glass is passed from each person to person to drink. It's a way to make sure everyone gets their fair share and you trust each other enough to drink from that single glass. All while we have Pulutan (equivalent to spanish tapas) and served in small serving amounts to eat while drinking. Pulutan is a must in every drinking session and definitely a part of the drinking culture of PI.
What struck me the most in this video was her speaking about the neighborhood she was in, and how it would most likely no longer be there within 3-4 years due to the gov't expanding Seoul by creating new buildings. As someone slowly readjusting to the outside world in NYC post-pandemic (ish) with increasing gentrification, it breaks my heart to discover so many of the stores and restaurants I loved before are no longer with us. To you reading this, enjoy and support the places you love when you can. Please remember to not only cherish, but also relish your experiences. We truly do not realize what we have until it's gone.
Omg Tina I'm shook You're managing a restaurant while still being a content creator Don't stress a lot for the sake of creating content 🤗. Hope you're doing good.
@@michaelpark5681 Interesting question. I have asked you the same one on previous occasions, seeing you are so opinionated on her, but you never answered, so I will extend the same courtesy to you and leave it as a mystery. As for the concept of projecting, it came up in her last video in my comment section where I said the following. “Exegesis takes information from observable data and tries to formulate an accurate interpretation of reality, whereas eisegesis brings the observer’s interpretation to reality by adding meaning to it. A form of projecting, which explains religions existence, and why misinterpretation is so rampant in personal relationships. In quantum mechanics everything is described by a wave function. But a wave function is not observable it is only a device to determine probabilities. Eisegesis allows for thinking outside of the box, considering all possible meanings and makes life a little more interesting”.

Get baptized in Jesus name ask Jesus to fill you with his Holy Spirit and guide you everyday... Share Jesus with all some more souls can be saved from going to hell 🔥 🙏
@@YossephTeeth A friend of mine actually did some translating work on the oldest extant codex manuscript of the book of Revelation Papyrus 47 (designated by siglum 𝔓47). And I have in my library the authoritative works on textual criticism by Bruce Metzger, Kurt and Barbara Aland. So I am quite familiar with the Apocalypse. But have you ever entertained the concept of religion as being a projection of humanity’s inner longings and desires. If you are interested, then I recommend you start with the works of Robert N. Bellah, “Religion in Human Evolution: From the Palaeolithic to the Axial Age”. I appreciate your response.
This would probably be up there in my top 3 favourite videos from you so far! And not so much/necessarily because alcohol/drinking is involved but more of the social and cultural bit of it! Just brilliant! Thank you for sharing your authentic culture in such a beautiful way
Loved this! I spent 5 years of my early adulthood in South Korea. Seeing Korean street food along with soju and maekju warms my heart. What a fabulous eating and drinking culture.
sometimes I come back to these videos because they comfort me so much. tina you're the reason why I started to get to know Korean culture better and made visiting Seoul a dream of mine. what a beautiful video, and the way you explain things so accurately really makes me want to jump into the screen and join you. keep it up❤
Finally got to try some Korean food the other day at a new restaurant that opened up by me in Arizona. I’ve always enjoyed drinking soju but it was that much better enjoying it with traditional Korean food. Can’t wait to go to Seoul to experience an even more immersive experience.
Just found your channel and totally enjoying your videos. I feel sad about the this aspect of old Korea disappearing. I too hope that they can somehow retain some of that for the future generation to enjoy. Great videos.. keep it going!
As a native Korean, I love your videos so much!! Thank you for showing the good parts of drinking culture Korea. I really love your energy keep up the work!!😊😊
I said it before... I 'll say it again... Ministry of Tourism should sponsor this channel 🤩 I love it how you present Korean food culture. I want to travel and visit all these neighbourhoods... I see so many flavours! ps in Greece we call the bomb drink 'submarine' and make it with whisky and beer 😅
As a Danish person, i can for sure relate about drinking! (we) As a country loves to drink so much beer after work and any time at all! Get some shots in aswell.I'm even drinking right now! Love the couple of vids i've seen.
Tina,hi! thank you so much for your videos i enjoy watching them and educating myself with a different culture! it’s so clear how much you like telling us about everything about ways to eat/ how people ate or just the history of korean culture!! thank you!!!!
This is brilliant!!! It would be amazing for an episode with just Korean drinking tricks, etiquette, superstitions and real world day to day drink things!
11:59 - I really didn't think that the "U-Boot" ("Submarine bomb" - in America called Jaegerbomb) also existed in a Korean version! In Germany this is done with Jägermeister and beer and has a devastating effect that every "drinker" appreciates! I just love this video because it shows such an unexpected cultural resemblance that I wasn't expecting! Lots of love from Germany!❤
Tina, you're really helping second generation (and up) Korean westerners around the world to understand their Korean roots better. So many Korean westerners have lost their understanding of their own culture after leaving Korea. After escaping during the war and immigrating to other countries for safety, refuge, or a new life. After leaving Korea to escape its extreme competitiveness or societal hardships. This is a really great video to help Korean diaspora around the world to understand their Korean roots again. :)
Watching Dooby is really insightful, informative and highly entertaining. I really appreciate her videos where she goes around different places and discusses everything.
the places you go for drinks are the best & it describes the culture & nature of Korea 😍 what advice do you have for tourists who wants to visit places where locals flock instead of the touristy parts?
Hey Dooby! Just want you to know that you've helped me so much in improving my relationship with food. Thank you for your uplifting vlogs that have taught me so much about Korea and its beautiful cuisine :)
@@michaelpark5681 your comment is very insensitive. i can’t speak from personal experience, but some people struggle with food and eating. EDs, for example, are very very real
Woah I didn't know about Seoul's plans for Euljiro and Jongno 3-ga! Those are the places I visit the most when I'm in Korea. I'm excited to see what they'll make of it though
I’ve heard of the drinking etiquette rules, such as the younger will pour drinks for the eldest, and it’s rude/unlucky to pour for yourself. Also have seen the different drinking games, like knocking a shot of soju into beer mugs.
man, i hung out with my korean group occasionally and they never stopped after the first round, always went to another place to drink after, and i couldn't understand how they could fit more food/drink in after the first round, my stomach usually had no more room especially if we had a lots of beers
Enjoy Dooby!! Stay safe and have fun ❤ I remember being able to drink as much as I wanted to without a killer hangover. I'm 30 now am bedridden for a week if I drink 😂 It's great while it lasts
This masterclass is an unforeseen treasure I never anticipated needing, yet I am wholeheartedly engrossed in taking notes; diligently preparing for the upcoming exam.
Going to SK for the first time in the beginning of september I wonder if such nights are possible for foreigners.. like those hidden alley bight market 'ish bbqs and pozangs is kinda what we want to experience. Love those vibes more than any shiny and new. Sure Naver Maps and Papago.. but how do you even find such places. I might be overwhelmed with too much preparations in my head, sure.. just gonna go with the flow I guess.
i have been always impressed by the korean culture and overall the people in Your contry. love Your channel, fun and learning! in hungary it is typical like beer or just what we call: pelkó, which is basically schnaps, it is in some cases over 40 percent of alcohol..
Ah to be young! I miss the days of drinking, my body doesn't handle alcohol the same anymore :c I miss all the fun and friends I had/made those years of life. Great times!
I’m starting to get tired of eating bibimbap and kimbap but tbh, I find these places intimidating since I’m always traveling solo. Y’all are next level, looks like a good time though!
hey, doobydobap I really like your vlog and want to say they are so amazing in ever way and congarts again for your own resturant the work and effort you have put in is incredible. I am happy to see you already have found your way and continue to explore and enjoy the time and support you had to yourself and from your friend and partner. Keep on doing the things you enjoy and we as your subcribers are with you to the end of time your faithfully, dooby.
I love this Video !! It perfectly shows drinking culture in Asia. Not exclusive to Korea though, almost all Asian Countries have this drinking Culture of having tons of food with it. My Friends I grew up with in the West always look at me baffled whenever I bring it up or the Topic comes up and I explain it. I'll use this Video properly explain it how it looks like.
