I just moved back to Japan, switched my US license and passed the test on the first try, from what I hear, a miracle. Your driving and especially your "How to pump your own gas" videos have been hugely helpful. Parking has been a hilarious struggle, 30 years of backing up in the US makes the right sided drive location and depth perception chotto off. I appreciate what you do Daddy T...

Cool street signs! I too always back in for similar reasons its the best way to park my opinion.
@DaddyTJapan
@DaddyTJapan 2 года назад
I also believe that . Lots of advantages . When I first started driving out here I was pulling in headlights first . That put me in really bad situations where I almost hit cars trying to get out ! Never again though .

Thanks for the videos. why all ppl in Japan do switch off their car engine on the traffic light is red?
@DaddyTJapan
@DaddyTJapan 6 месяцев назад
They don’t do it manually it’s automatic in some cars like Mazdas , they do that to “ save gas “ because the engine is idle .

Surely they are driving 'slowly' in the left lane, because they drive on the left, no? The overtaking lane would be on the right ?
@AllieThePrettyGator
@AllieThePrettyGator 10 месяцев назад
The reason Japan drives on the left is that the British made the railway back then. 10:57 Plus i often say that Japan has the craziest traffic lights

Yes you need a Japanese license to drive on the roads . Might be able to get by with an international license if you’re just visiting , I’m not sure.

The speed limit in Japan is 100 in expressway 60 in ordinary roads

Except on the Shin Tomei and Tohoku Expressway because I've done it personally. They can go up to 120km/h . Again, it depends on the sign. Thanks for the comment!

Why back in. Are you required to
@DaddyTJapan
@DaddyTJapan 7 месяцев назад
I think I explained it in the video . There’s isn’t enough space to pull in between two cars . Also it’s easier to back in and when you eventually pull out you have a full range of vision . This cutting down on accidents . Also everyone in Japan backs in so if you pull in your drivers side door will be on the same side as their door increasing the likeliness of door knocks in an already tight space . Is it required ? No , it’s best practice in Japan and highly encouraged and offers many benefits .
