An organization's core values are the fundamental principles that guide its employees in achieving their goals, even in online companies. And if you want to see innovation, it can help to prioritize open communication, inclusivity and coaching employees on adapting to change. Let's see how you can use these values to drive innovation, Communicate what you want to achieve, what your limits are, as well as best practices. This will give your employees an idea of what they're working toward and what they want to avoid. Then allow them time and space to come up with their own solutions for reaching their goals. Being inclusive means ensuring everyone can participate as their authentic self. When we aren't comfortable being honest and genuine, it's difficult to be vulnerable enough to share new ideas. You can make sure your team fosters psychological safety so that each person knows they're free to share feedback, ask questions and propose new ideas. It's beneficial to have an inspired workforce. But to actually enjoy their ideas, you'll need to make sure your employees can handle change. Not everyone is naturally flexible, which is why you may want to coach people through changes so they can better adapt. As you meet with them, Try to find out what they might be afraid of, and what they value. Some people resist change because they fear they'll lose their routine or a sense of balance. You might want to learn what they're trying to hold on to and reframe the situation by telling them why the changes will benefit them. This could help them see that there is a positive tradeoff. Getting used to change is one challenge of having an innovative online company. But what other challenges might you face? Some managers find it hard to ensure their employees work during working hours, so time theft is a concern. It's crucial to have your employees consistently problem solve and improve their skills to be innovative. Employees surrounded by personal belongings, daily chores and the comforts of their home can be tempted to avoid work or mismanage their time. And during video conferences, the same distraction can interfere with meetings. Another concern is that leaders don't always understand the best platform for the message they want to communicate and effective communication allows everyone to understand what they want to achieve, and how to apply their creative skills. Online, we have synchronous and asynchronous communication. Synchronous communication is high speed, and two examples are phone calls and live video communication. This can be helpful for conversations that might involve lots of questions or explanations. You can also use it to give tutorials. But digital workplaces also provide virtual teams with the tools and applications to work from anywhere on any device at any time. Asynchronous communication happens at each participant's own pace. Some examples are emails, text messages, and chats. These methods are helpful for Conversations, you want to be documented, such as tips or instructions. It's possible to walk someone through a process using screenshots or photos and create a guide. This might help with general training that everyone needs to receive. Knowing the most effective way to share and receive information is crucial because if you share a lot of complex information over a call, your employees may not hear and comprehend everything you're saying. And if you share information over text or manuals, it's important to ensure the manuals are updated and applied to each person's circumstances. It could help to use both asynchronous and synchronous methods to give people time to process information and form their questions before you meet about it.
