I used to drop in on vert ramps when I was younger. I am almost 54 now and I only drop in on small stuff now. It was still a strange motion when I was younger. I would do fakie ollies on the ramp and my board would go about halfway over the coping and sometimes I would try to lift the nose more in the air to get a little tabletop. What I did when dropping in on the ramp was tell myself that it was just coming back in on a fakie ollie. So I would lean back a little before going forward so it would feel like I was re-entering from a fakie ollie. Now when I do them on small transition, I lean in slow and come in late. I do make sure to bend my knees and creep in. It is good now with the youtube videos like this one to tell you to stomp the nose down. I have dropped in on vert ramps hundreds of times when I was younger, so for me, now it is just mental. It can be a big mental block.

0:39 is something i learned late but its so true. 4 or 14 feet it is all the same. shred time is literally. 97% mental.
@kellienicolebrooksschettin6598
The most difficult part of this is physiological,in your head but don't start on the biggest bowl u can find no matter what your friends tell you...work up to it three or four foot,u can actually practice the position and drop timing on flat land,what's important is getting centered on your board in your riding spot,foot on your tail ready to set up for the other wall just stay centered in your attack pose ,fakies will really help you learn the transitions curve the more comfortable u are on knowing the transition the the more comfortable you will be when it rushes towards you timing the drop bottom of transition and flat,i

If you just drop in without pumping between first wall and flat and between flat and opposite wall, you won't even have enough speed to reach the opposite coping so don't worry. Just practice kickturns high on the wall before, by starting from flat and getting higher and higher. Cause if you never kickturned high on the wall it can be surprising.

I've been falling forward and I fell on my left injured leg since I'm not goofy. I was grunting since I slipped off a 10 ft bowl. However I nearly did it but u should also look for your foot placement since I fucked up and slipped
@lukepevensie
@lukepevensie 9 лет назад
first i ever pumped on a vert ramp i lean too much forward on the ascent. so by the time i come back down i literally fell on my back. lol, the flat bottom is great to practice those flat ground tricks
@kellienicolebrooksschettin6598
The big thing I tell kids is you hold you back foot pressure tight and just go on to the front holding tight pressure on the back foot and once you get over and on the board the drop on part you board will gradually pull of the coping because your putting all your weight on the front of your board and your back foot won't be able to hold your board up because of the weight transfer be smooth,like Andy said be ready knee bent start small the movement is the same but the speed is quicker and the g force is higher ,hope fully you legs are strong and in shape,when I drop in for the first time it was awsum it was unlike any other maneuver and the speed was great I was ready for it because my legs were in unbelievable shape and real strong ,that's important when u hit the flat you will be going pretty fast and you need to feel the ramp to have control,grasshopper,verk dose legs squats vit da volkvaggen vil build strong legs,ya,fakie bill also build strong legs and learn the curve of your ramp or drop,I to do fake but it important practice it learn your transition,but start small don't get ahead..thanks
@Gramercy_Stiffs
@Gramercy_Stiffs 4 года назад
Do the kids answer "umm what?" Coz that's how I felt trying to read your instructions.
@kellienicolebrooksschettin6598
Unfortunately for me being a old school half pipe skater,I got some nice bowls in my local area,but I really more comfortable in a half pipe like this one the bigger stuff has more transition,you know the part that goes from flat to vert and bigger is a smoother and easier thing to skate smaller bowls tend to have more of a quicker transition and that just requires a little more strenght,and for me its not as fun,for my style I enjoy going fast and doing airs,its hard to believe it was 43 years ago when I got started,holy crap I'm old...hah hah piece out.have fun,y'all.

Not trying to be a know it all but the more info u kids understand,if u hear that does mean u understand it till u put into play I mean u use the info try it do it use some more info that's how u learn and master a technique,specially when u got I guy like Andy telling u how,when I was 12 years old I was bless by the help of a pro tournament vert skater,what he didn't know about me was I was very good at watching him one time or more and then doing it exactly how he was doing,photographic memory or what ever it was I could do it like a copier which is how the human spieces learns naturally....I think back now to the fear that most kids are going thru and try to understand the mental part of why u struggle,main thing I believe is you have to believe in the person who's showing u....let's see should I believe him,well who is he,I don't know.but he can do what it is I want to do and that my friends was all it took,so then my belief in the myself was this I want to do this,i know I can do this,not over confident but confident and desire to want to accel.I think they call that having a goal,and that is what u focus on.Not crashing or dying if u focus on negative that is what u will get skating is fun that's positive u want to have fun so clear ur mind focus on your goal hold ur goal in ur mind when fear comes in,insert ur goal,kick fear out,insert ur goal and kick fear out,insert ur goal,kick fear out....there is two kinds of pressure in this world bad pressure and good pressure,use the good pressure,and remember these are not the droids u are looking for,he can go about his business...he can go about his business,may u go with the force of gravity.and as I always like to say...its working....its working.huh.piece out.when u do the drop part be ready for the g out strong legs control not stiff flow with it,I did know skiing since I was 3 years old and u have to react really quick to bumps u may not see because snow is white hides it terrain so be ready and strong go with the drop and be strong that's some thing u can't really see.u must feel it that's why learning smaller is propper...u feeling for the ramp get better gradually.THANKS sorry it took so long...

@philipottey7723
@philipottey7723 10 лет назад
It doesn't matter what board you skate with honestly, what matters is how you skate. POSITIV is a decent board company but mostly everyone I know skates over-hyped company boards like plan b, BAKER, DGK, or element, but you should be fine with your board. People say walmart boards snap which is true, but if you look around some of their decks hold longer than others due to cheap assembly(proven fact); I'm not forcing you to buy one, but that's what a couple of those major companies to do their boards in some cases. Anyway, I would recommend looking around online for underrated/cheap decks and build it your way instead of buying completes in my opinion brands like BACON, Superior skateboards(favorite for cheapness), local skateshop brand, habitat, Mini logo, and even birdhouse is a good starter board. Then worry about your body size(height, weight, shoe size), which determines your deck size before buying any deck.
@MagicOnTheMic
@MagicOnTheMic 9 лет назад
If you want to start off, get a local shop, blank deck which runs about 25, and have at it.
