I've used this tutorial the past 2 times doing my hair, with perfect results. the video was to the point and easy to follow while coloring my hair. Thank you ☺
same here. i have used box color before and i hated it. so i have been going to the salon, except now, i don't have the time or money to do that anymore. thinking if i go get a bowl and brush, it would be helpful because i did it with my hands and got patches everywhere. good luck to you.
Great Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (google it)? It is an awesome exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker after many years got astronomical success with it.
Wow. I've been looking up videos because my wife wants me to dye her hair and I have to say that your video is the easiest wait to do it. Thank you. I was worried she'd end up looking like a purple minion. Cheers.
I always get my hair dyed at home, but I've never tried sectioning my hair into smaller sections like you! I think sectioning hair into four smaller sections to make it easy to work with is the greatest tip in this video :) And I think using the mixing bowl and brush also makes the whole process easier.
i just did my wife's hair. Still waiting for the 30 min to see the result. Its so easy i cant believe how easy that was. Ive tried coloring her hair before, and those were not great. Right now im not sure if your tutorial was really really helpful, or maybe i completely messed her hair up, because of how easy that whole process was. I mean it didnt take time at all. compared to my previous attempt on coloring her hair. I hope this works. Thanks a lot for the tips and techniques. I get to spend quality time with my wife without having panic attack
Dyed mine for the first time today. I was freaking out before watching this. You made it look so easy and it definitely made it easier for me. Thank you!!
Do not start at the hairline! If you have virgin hair start at the bottoms and leave about 1-2 inches of roots, then put dye on the roots. So basically leave the dye on roots for half the time compared to the rest. You will get bright roots if you don't!
+Maheen A with regrowth if you have dyed your hair a little lighter than your natural colour the roots will be darker meaning it will need more time to dye
Great tip, dividing your hair in four parts. I only dye my roots and my hair is a little bit shorter than yours but it is very difficult to dye the roots in your neck when you have all that hanging over it . So this will certainly help. Thanks! Looking forward to new tutorials ! I follow you for soms years now so the oldies I know already.
I'm a total advocate for home-kit dyeing when you're not making a dramatic change! I have naturally dark brown hair and I find it doesn't suit me because of my skin tone, so I've been dyeing it a dark red every six months or so (or just whenever I need a bit more red again) for the past three years and it works a treat! It comes out quite bright for the first week or so, but after I wash it a couple of times it fades to a lovely reddy-brown! I have, however, tried to do my own ombre in the past and it has NOT worked in my favour, so I feel like unless you're confident in your own skills, go to a professional!
I have extremely long hair also. Plus my hair is naturally curly. I have been wanting to dye it for a couple years now but was too intimidated thinking that I was going to mess it up. Your video was very helpful, thank you. I'm excited to see what other ideas you have.
My hair is just as long as yours and up until this past year I've had my mom dye my hair so my first experience was a nightmare! I got hair dye all over the place! I didn't section off my hair like you did and now I see that it helps. This will definitely save me from dying everything purple next time.
I've got a few questions: 1) Does semi-permanent dye last as long on blondes as it says on the package and if not how many times longer does it last? 2) What are the best and the worst brands of hair dye? 3) Is your hair damaged after doing semi-permanent dye?
This helped :) it's going to be my first time using the casting gloss by l'oreal. I usually use the Manic Panic dyes to achieve my red hair ( no bleach so it blends with my natural brown hair to create a nice dark red. ) but it doesn't last as I long as I hoped for so I turned to this l'oreal semi permenant. I choice the redish tint auburn. Hope it goes well :D
Thank you for this superb video. I have been dyeing my wife’s hair during this pandemic and this video helped me remove the kinks in the procedure. Especially, the part about starting from the roots (I used to do top down). And the tip about Vaseline to protect the skin.
I looked at so many tutorials trying to find this one. I have long hair and last time i dyed it i missed a lot on the length. This will help with that. Thanks!
VERY GOOD, I'm doing my daughters hair tomorrow were she has long hair as you do but her blond color only starts part way down from her crown. Tomorrow I will be coloring her hair all blond completely. you did a wonderful job and made everything look really easy. I am sure it is not as all things are difficult until much time and experience has passed.
Thank you bebexo, i have been dying my hair for a couple of years but always struggled with parting my hair properly, this video is so helpfull. My favourite hair dye is also loreal dark brown. I think its the best and i've tried few!!
Also, plastic bags are actually not supposed to be used with chemical dyes (Only with herbal dyes like henna.), they can actually be dangerous by increasing the risk of allergic reaction (as the chemicals are trapped there close to your scalp)!! Oh, and Casting Creme gloss is often permanent and not semi-permanent, as it seems in your case since you have roots (unless you used another dye before) :)
Very helpful, I‘m just about to dye my hair :) I used to go to a stylist but this is just too expensive and I even had a color accident at my favorite salon... Plus I always receive positive comments if I dye my hair myself. Everybody thinks I spent a big amount of money at a salon where in reality I just paid a few bucks and dud it myself ☺️
Thank you! I do not always have time to sit in a salon when I am busy with exams! I never thought to use the brush to apply dye, I always just rubbed it in with my hands... always seemed to miss spots! I feel like this is going to ensure that when I have to use a box (started going grey at 28) that I will be able to get to everything :)
This is really helpful because my hair color is similar to yours, as I just lightened it over a month ago and now my darker roots are showing. Thanks!!!
Great tips! Coloring long hair, especially a dark color can be tricky. That creme looks awesome, and your hair looks great. I'll have to try it next time I color mine.
Your video and explanation are great. I have always gone to the best NY and CA salons. Your explanation encourages me to try it myself or with a friend. Thank You.
Actually your supposed to use a brush to apply hairdye as they do in professional salons.. using just hands can increase risk of patchyness and uneven colour
Mickyla Lambert She's right. You can use the brush to apply but afterwards youre not supposed to brush the hair dye, that would only brush away the product. And to roll your hair up would make it uneven, the hair should be left down.
I just noticed in this video that your jawline is glorious and goes really well with your entire face. Your hair is beautiful too, always so long and shiny.
Judy Hirsh that's a huge waste of money tbh. it's way better to read up a bunch of informational articles, few yt videos and then figure pout yourself what works for your hair :) unless of course you're lazy or not able to do that, or maybe just rich enough lol
OMG How do you do this so perfectly? My hair is down to my waist and I need 2 towels around me and towels all over the floor - and I still manage to get the dye everywhere :( I need to try the mixing bowl method, too. Would a plain plastic bowl and, say, a paint brush work as well? I don't have any beauty supply stores around where I live, so what would a good alternative be? :(
I love loreal as it is for a lot of their products....I use some of their hair coloring products already....might try this to color my hair back to its natural color
WARNING to ANYONE TRYING THIS BRAND FOR THE FIRST TIME. They have put the COLORANT in the same tube that is ALWAYS used for the CONDITIONER in several other brands I have used such as John Frieda and Perfect 10 by Clairol. Having colored my hair myself for decades I made the mistake because I didn't take the time to READ - I just in a rush - as the contents in the box appeared IDENTICAL to the other brands I have used. Yes, it is my own fault so no need to trash me here and call me an idiot!! LOL!. I will buy another one as I wouldn't be entitled to claim a refund nor would I even request one but just in case anyone else, like me, who has never tried this particular brand before - BEWARE.
Thank you so much! Loved your video! I have very long hair and your tips were excellent and helped me learn how to dye my hair on my own. Thanks again!
Hi there! I'm new to hair dying, and have dark brown hair. I want to dye it dark purple, but I don't want to bleach my hair. I don't have a hairdresser in my town, either. Any advice on that? //Also your hair is really pretty omg
I have found a L'Oréal permanent hair dye that is meant for darker hair, my friend has already tried it (she has dark brown hair) and it leaves a beautiful purple shine onto it, it's kind of subtle but still beautiful, maybe you can try that
They have midnight splat. It’s meant to go on darker hair. It gave my hair a nice blue tint. But be super careful if you use it, because it will stain like hell. I read that before I tried it so I rinsed my hair directly above the drain and I had no issues with it staining the tub!
I would like to try out the casting creme gloss because I've never dyed my hair before, and I would love to try dying my hair for the first time for my upcoming fall college experience! :)
As a hairstylist, yes we don't like box color but we love the color corrections we do whenever they attempt to color their hair and it comes uneven. As you can see here her (roots) new growth came out darker than the rest of the hair. The back is darker and the front top part is lighter. This is do to the plastic bag and the hair been all squeeze together not giving it the color air to process. You're welcome!!!
connie esparza putting hair in a plastic bag is incorrect process?I've seen a lot of coloring hair video they do the same thing.they put a plastic to cover their hair
Well fine, but it still looks pretty good. Not everyone can afford to get their professionally colored. Plus, she still recommends people go to a professional for the more complicated stuff. I think her box job looks very good.
well the woman in the video wants to *touch up her roots* since her natural roots are growing out so it would make sense to start with the roots first in this case. But if someone were to start off wanting tp dye their whole head, and if they have virgin hair- to prevent "hot roots" yes starting from the ends and working up towards the roots is how it should be done :) hope that helps.
It may be weird, but I watch this and I'm a guy. And I'm straight XD - I watch it because it gives me ideas for my writing and character development :D
In response to a question below, you are really not supposed to massage the color in, so don't worry about staining your scalp. You just spread it throughout without applying pressure.
