I have 64tb lying around from an scprime rig that I stupidly never set up. Should I repurpose it for chia or go ahead and use it for what it was intended?
Is that SSD SC550 2TB temperature always 40 Celsius and NAND writes stuck on 3 GB? I have two or three of those and it seems temp sensor is fake/broken stuck on 40 and NAND writes stuck on 3 GB...
use a separate SSD to plot to and even with low ram, you can make plot in about 30 min. DO NOT use your boot drive to plot to. if you have even an old GPU like a 1070 or 1660, those will plot C18 GH plots in just a few minutes. Higher compression = faster and smaller plots. If you dont mind even a small investment, you can get an old ddr3 workstation with 256gb ram for like $300 and it will plot C18 GigaHorse plots in less than 3 minutes, Bladebit C7 plots in about 7 minutes. DDR3 memory for plotting is super fast. You do not need DDR4 ram. Use an old workstation, they are super cheap. The guy you are talking to is very misinformed, no one is spending $20k on plotting lol. Old ddr3 workstations are more than enough.
Excellent starter walk thru, really enjoyed and in fact, have just pulled out a pc from under the stairs to set up for Chia farming,,er,,plotting er...you know what I mean he he. Coupla comments below to help you with loadshedding ( or power theft as I know it) come from Cape Town now in the UK so I know what you are going thru. Also just ordered Tails Chia kit, should get to me here in the UK in about 4 weeks, hang in there boetie!!
Awesome job with this video, Brynn! Loved all your edits, especially with the action shots and b-roll and huge shout out to Paul for giving us his insight! We love hearing from our community.
Nice intro to basic Chia farmer setup. Unfortunate that you need so much disk to make any serious coin (pun intended) your next video might want to touch on plot file compression
I built a hpz620 w/256 gb ram and a 3060 all used for $500 C7 plots take 9-15 min in windows im told it could im told would be faster in lynix. DDR3 is way cheaper than DDR4
I mean I don't know if it's completed but I got things up and running even with the syncing going on in the background and I did the plot so it is plotting
I haven't completely plotted - I am still downloading the remote plots. Once all HDDs are plotted, it estimates around 0.72 XCH per month - definitely not 0.1
@@VoskCoin Seems arduous and overtly time consuming while not being profitable kwh/asset distribution. The evergreen solutions seem slightly more viable than higher power consumption of a loaded-up PC and plotting your own drives. That said, I don't see the evergreen solutions being profitable without a major move in the unproven Coin asset. Laying-off 1/2 of staff isn't a good look either. Lots of downsides adding up against asset appreciation hope.
We know that if you enter with this turorial right now, you will lose power in front of the other miners..... is not up to date ! It is similar to 2 years ago from the beginning, while time has changed a thousand things and we know if you are not up to date in this world ...better not be. @@VoskCoin
