Thank you so much! I'm ecstatic now. Your video was so easy to follow and understand. My mower runs again! Thank you! Edit. - it runs. But the key isnt shutting it off. Ive read the comments and it looks like youve addressed it. But im still not having luck 🙃
On the bottom of the key switch, you hook one of the magneto wires that isn’t hooked to anything to your kill wire. That way when you shut your key off, it shuts the engine off because it grounds it out. if you’re wondering what the kill wire is inspect your motor near the carburetor or near spark plug area near coil the middle of the motor there will be a black wire coming out of there that will be your kill wire. It’s got a hook to one of those magneto spots on the key switch.
Thanks so much for this vid!! Bought a used 1438H and couldn't figure out how the charging circuit worked. Diagrams showed some stuff, but your vid confirmed it visually.. didnt want to screw up my brand new 60 dollar battery..
Please send your phone # I can then send you a text photo as to how I have it wired. This is a push button start. I have a long black wire connected to starter. A red wire that I will connect to positive battery. And I have a thin extra wire coming out Of the push button box that I don't know where to connect it to!
I removed the push button box and installed a regular solenoid in its place. If it was just a push button there, I would’ve probably left it but my snapper not only had that push button but a key switch that went on and off so you would have to turn the key switch on then hit the push button so I got tired of the whole system Bypass that push button start area put in a regular key switch to make it like a regular Lawn Mower riding machine.
Awesome exactly what I needed to know thanks bro❤❤ Aslo I noticed this snapper in video dosen't have a factory control bracket assembly I am also have issues with mine its hard to find item. So what could I do. Or use to replace mine???? Please help thanks
eBay has lots of used parts. I’ve found just about all the stuff I’ve needed over the years. You could always buy one that’s blown up very cheap and then you would have extra parts as well. Best of luck with your project. If you’re talking the plate that goes on the engine, I have a video that shows you the throttle plate, the spring, 3 bolts and linkage adjustments and then you could use just about any throttle cable you want.
One of the magneto spots which isn’t really hooked to anything all it does is ground out the Killswitch wire when you shut the key off. Just put it on an empty spot on the key switch.
There’s a wire off the back of the engine that has a special weird looking plug That’s called a diode off of a black wire usually. That goes to the battery. If there’s no diode on that wire, that’s full AC power that would be too much power. That’s enough power to run. Let’s say headlights. The purpose of the diode is to convert ac power into DC, which would be the perfect amount to charge a battery the DC. And one of those wires will hook to the black kill wire to ground out so the machine will shut off when you turn the key off.
Looks great. Did you disconnect the seat safety? Mine was running fine and while riding it, it died and now turning key does nothing. Have to figure out where the issue is.
Thanks, yes seat disabled. I figured since you need to lock in the deck engagement once your foot comes off of that deck shuts off so it’s all manual so I didn’t see a need for a seat switch
Magneto or the M on bottom of key switch it’s the black wire next to spark plug. Connect that wire to the M location on switch and when you shut key off it will ground out and kill engine.
