I only convert images I want to upload to, say, social media, so I'm happy to do one at a time, like this: In Windows 10 I click on the HEIC file and when it opens I select Edit&Create in top right corner, then Edit. I make any adjustment to the image I want, or none at all, then I select at the bottom of the screen Save a Copy. I don't rename it at this point but you can. Ensure it is saving in the folder you want in the usual way. It will save as a Jpg file.

Couldn't drag and drop from my iphone 7 directly into the converter on my PC (Win7) but I copied them to a folder on my desktop and D 'n D'd from there to the converter. Worked great!

I bought a photostick for my iPhone. Some transferred as jpeg & many as Heic. I didn't know what to do. Converting them to jpeg is a breeze! Thanks so much.

You also can just go to the settings on your Iphone for example -> go to camera-> structures -> Then you have an option between High Effiency of Most Compatible. Choose for most compatible. If you then take a picture it will have the format .jpeg. I did this and when I made a test photo and send it to my Imac with airdrop it said jpeg :)

One can easily convert HEIC file on windows to JPG just by clicking on edit option and then without any changes select save a copy. it will automatically be saved in JPG format.

It only converted half of my photos to JPG. The other ones it didn’t recognize as HEIC.

This is a great tutorial. Is there a way to delete the initial HEIC file while converting it to jpeg? I have about 3,000 HEIC’s that I need to convert but I don’t want to end up with 3,000 heic files and 3,000 jpegs. I only want 3,000 jpegs. Thanks!

I just downloaded iMazing so that i could convert all these HEIC files over to JPG so that I could manage them on my PC, along with all the other JPGs my point & shoot camera takes. And iMazing does that very well: just drag a bunch of HEIC files into their GUI, and it will convert them to JPG, and best of all: preserves the EXIF data such as time stamps, location, etc. HOWEVER!! After converting hundreds of HEIC files, i realized afterwards that NONE of the edits are carried over. Only the raw image gets coverted. Meaning: if you shoot in Portrait Mode, or make color corrections within the iPhone Photo app, none of those edits will get converted with the original image. LACK OF AAE FILE SUPPORT? When you shoot in Portrait Mode, or make color corrections or any other in-iPhone edits, those edits are stored in a separate AAE file. So, original photo is (for example) IMG_1234.HEIC. But if that was taken using Portrait Mode, there will be a separate IMG_1234.AAE file sitting next to it, which contains all the edits and/or magic that iOS does to make it look Portrait Mode. When you use iMazing HEIC Converter, only the HEIC file gets converted; none of the edits contained within the AAE file(s) gets included. Still a great product. But this is kind of a deal breaker: to "lose" those edits

I attempted to use this program but it would only generate an error message " some files were not recognized as Valid HEIC files when I dragged HEIC files to it. It is useless for me.

The windows version is not working for me. Anyone else on Windows 10 having the same problem?

Beware - the free conversion stops at 50 photos. At that point get ready to spend a chunk of change to convert heif/heic to jpg. Seems like a bait and switch. I wish Apple had warned everyone about this new change and how to keep it in jpeg format. I have changed the setting on my iPhone so it's back to JPEG.

They advertised this program as free and that;s a lie. It's a free download, which these days nobody charge for just downloading a piece from their sites. Beware that just after the words FREE DOWLOADING it says it's free. Bologna.
