on honey pools: you can also just use a flipper potion to minimize the slow they give! alternatively, you can bring a bunch of honey bottles and quick buff every 30 seconds to keep the buff active, though this only works while potion sickness isnt active
for extra weapon recommendations: mages - sky fracture and crystal serpent are a couple of more straightforward weapons to use, and the life drain can work well too with it being very easy to aim and clearing bubbles very easily and just a general tip, if you replace your mana flower with just a mana regen potion, you can instead use the accessory slot for a survivability/mobility accessory which can be helpful rangers - dart rifle/pistol with ichor darts. if you're playing on corruption you can still make an artificial crimson by visiting the dryad in a graveyard in hardmode as normal, ichor darts are very effective and important + you can get both wrath and rage potions daedalus stormbow with holy arrows still does good work, because of course it does
As someone who always goes for Duke Fishron pre-mech, I can say that this is a great guide. If I could just add a few things, it would be that for the arena, bast statues, gnomes and peace candles are always good to have, and during the fight I recommend counting the number of dashes so you can predict Duke Fishron's next attack more easily (5 in phase one and 3 in phase 2). Also, try to get into a "loop" where you lure him to the side of the arena so he can spawn his sharknadoes there, go back to the middle when he shoots his bubbles and get him to the other side of the arena for the next sharknadoes, this way you won't even have to deal with the small sharks. This strat is essential in legendary mode. I highly recommend using the spirit flame so you can focus on dodging thanks to the homing, with the golden shower to pop the bubbles and lower his defense.
this video perfectly sums up why Duke Fishron is my favorite boss in the entire game. You don't *need* to use a shit ton of OP weapons like Terra Blade or Chain Gun to just remotely stand a chance against him, you just need to have actual dodging skills and you can beat it easily. I remember deciding to face it after beating the Mech bosses while only using a Water Walking potion and I legit got it to under 1000 health before i died
This is a really good guide, especially for newer players! I would only add a few notes: - Always bring a food item that boosts your stats, at least moderately. Additionally, luck boosts for overall improvement, Inferno potions for blocking most incoming detonationg bubbles, Bast and Heart Statues for free survivability, and class-specific damage boosts, such as Flasks or Archery, are a must-have for higher difficulties. - Shield of Cthulhu makes such a big difference in this fight. You can dash into Duke at any point for brief invulnerability, but if he's moving towards your location just after the dash, you'll get hit for massive damage. If Duke is diagonally above you about to dash, you can safely Shield Bash him. If he's parallel or diagonally below you, Shield Bash towards him while flying to fly past him, giving yourself good distance and speed. - For weapons, there's one weapon that I was shocked to not see on the list, one so powerful in this fight that I use it even when not playing its respective class: The Uzi. You can farm for it just after WOF, and it offers great damage, range, consistency, and the High Velocity bullets it fires can pierce through multiple bubbles. It's also low-commitment in terms of what accessories boost its output, allowing for a much more efficient defense or mobility build. - You can set up teleporters on each side of your arena hooked up to each other. That way, you can safely create a massive gap from Duke to give yourself some breathing time during the fight. Especially handy if you're about to recover Potion Cooldown or if you suck at baiting Sharknados, like me. - If your arena is too small, you can utilize the entire Beach biome without suffering from Enraged Duke. This extends to wherever the background changes. This really only applies to upper platforms, as most people use this space for housing.
I've found that an inferno potion is great for destroying the bubbles so you don't have to worry about any slipping past your other weapons. The nimbus rod is also good for destroying some bubbles and increasing your damage output a little, although it's not as reliable as inferno is for bubble pops.
From my experience, the marrow is one of the best choices for ranged, and it outclasses both of the options in the video. Just make sure to use an arrow with the highest damage number you can find, since it will always shoot bone arrows.
Additionally, if you beat 1 mech boss, you can fight Old Ones Army, which will give the Phantom Phoenix, a weapon similar to the marrow but with 2 arrows and an piercing phoenix that can clear bubbles without needing jester arrows. The main upside to using a bow over a gun is because bows can make use of the magic quiver and the archery potion, which provide insane dps increases. If you are struggling to kill the one mech boss, twins is an easy option that you cheese with a gravitation potion.
@@Ic1clez_ good point, but the marrow cant shoot jester arrows, it only receives the damage increase from the arrows' stats. I used the golden shower as a support weapon, and used that to clear out the bubbles as well.
damn, this is a really underrated fishron guide that can help new players excel in the game. Great vid! I loved watching through the entire thing, and I hope you can produce as good or even better content in the future ❤
Another fun tip: duke fishron, in his 3rd phase, will always teleport to the side of you he isn't already on, and he will always be above you, so if you keep track of him you can predict his exact teleportations and movement
from personal experience, forbidden armor is probably the best armor (as mage) for the duke since it's for both mage and summon so with the full set, a summonig potion and the bewitching table you can have up to 5 minions (whether tou use the sanguine staff, blade staff or any other) and they'll benefit from the armor aswell as your main weapon (i use the blade staff with the sky fracture and the Shadowflame Hex Doll)
+1 for recommending crystal assassin armor. not enough people realize how good of an armor set it is for early hardmode. usually i just get palladium/cobalt armor and make a beeline for queen slime once in hardmode for the armor and the mount. daedalus stormbow actually works very well against duke with ichor or cursed arrows. obviously you'd want the quivers (normal and molten to stack damage buffs) and ranged emblem for damage boosts and all of the buffs you can get.
From my experience, Daedalus stormbow with ichor arrows achieves the highest pre mech damage, while Destroying bubbles and having the potential to kill Sharkrons. However aiming while maximizing damage can be more difficult, and make focusing on dodging harder.
Shield of Cthulhu is a must have. After trying to beat Duke Fishron with Mage Build on Normal mode without any dashes i realized then that Expert mode is easier than normal mode.
The best tip I can add to this is to make sure to only dash either the moment before, after, or during his lunge, if you dash too late after a lunge he can just track you down with his next one, but if you time it correctly then he will be lunging during his dash which buys you some time, and it really adds up if you know how to do it correctly, plus it’s way easier to dodge his follow up
on the third phase, dashing away from him with the shield of cthulhu will still give you the s when he hits you, however it is much more consistent than dashing into him because it shoves you the opposite direction of his dash. It also has a wider timing window, try it out.
Oyyx blaster is such an amazing gun for this fight I suggest killing fishron after killing the mech bosses tough as chloro bullets really help on this fight + megasharks (This is for casual players, most people generally fight duke after plantera/golem)
I disagree, cool whip is less like an upgrade and more like a counter-part Firecracker is generally better with high damage minions since it has its explosion effect which contributes to its very high dps Cool whip is better with lower damage minions that hit more often since it has higher whip tag damage and effects (blade staff is the perfect summon for this whip) Both combos can do well against different bosses and can generally help get you throughout all mechs
As someone who's never progressed further than the three mech bosses in my 10 years of playing terraria, i will totally grind this boss battle now after having just landed in Hardmode in my Master world! Should make the rest of the playthrough alot more enjoyable 😁
Beautifully made video. Straight to the point, concise, simple, easy to follow, and you included enough pictures for my adhd riddled brain to stay interested. Lovely stuff fren 💖 The 1 complaint/recommendation I have though is that some colors you chose for text are hard to read. For example on my phone at least the gray "pre-mech" text is kind of hard to notice. I'd recommend maybe a silver instead of gray? Be creative with it :) Same with the text color for Charm of Myths. A dark glossy red may be better or just using the actual sprite itself may be handy. A very minor complaint though this is so well made Regardless, instant sub, can't wait to attempt Duke Fishron like this again (and hopefully win!) in my next playthrough 💖💖💖
The Dart Rifle, Dart Pistol, or Blowgun are also a really good option if you use Cursed Darts. Cursed Inferno DoT + a rain of projectiles that can reliably pop a lot of bubbles and score free hits with barely any aim. Ironically, firing above Duke Fishron rather than at him is a better option most of the time. This option doesn't even require a Hardmode anvil.
Everything looks good, and I'm sorry I gotta hit you with the but, _but_ I strongly recommend using a fast fall mount like slimy saddle and/or a fast horizontal speed mount like goat skull. I encourage the usage of cross necklace as well, and maybe even a double jump. Also crystal serpent.
Tip on third phase: you can abuse the shield of cthulhu by dashing to duke. You can take almost no dmg if you do this right. Left Left right Right left right (or vice versa)
You recommend the sanguine staff for summoners as one option, but have you ever tried this one? Tbh. Getting this stuff is harder than beating duke at that level. Also, its really time consuming and pain So, only blade staff is the only good pick (exept someone whats to cover their arena with background walls for spiders :D )
2:28 There's a better Whip than the Firecracker at this point, the Cool Whip, just need one Frost Core and some souls, and you can also use an Inferno Potion to deal with the bubbles
the firecracker has a unique buff that makes an explosion the next time a summon hits the enemy, which works very well with high damaging, slower minions. cool whip gives a tag damage bonus I believe, which is great with the blade staff, especially if you're good with whip stacking. that's the extent of my knowledge, someone who plays summoner regularly would know better that me
Cool whip is absolutely NOT better than the firecracker, especially if you're using a minion with relatively high damage like the sanguine staff. The firecracker may lack tag damage but instead of that it makes it so that the next time a minion hits the target, the damage is almost tripled, which is obviously much better than the cool whip's 6 extra damage per hit + a somewhat ok temporary minion.
When i was new to terreria I was us8ng journey mode to duplicate explosive bunnys S9 as sson as i saw duke fishrons summoning item and fished with it as soon as i saw duke i went into godmode and spammed explosive buunys
he’s honestly really easy any difficulty classic to expert before golem. Master and FTW, the blue stage is a little too long to have bad damage output with premech weapons.
the music he used for phase 1: duke fishron theme the music he used for phase 2: r o a r o f t h e j u n g l e d r a g o n besides yharon duke fishron same thing right
i've been using frost legs + chest with adamantite head, and sergeant united shield for damage + dart pistol ichor darts + super star cannon for some extra damage and piercing, is this a good loadout?
The obsidian armor, wich can be obtained after the eater of world, is a good option for summoner?🤨 The sumoner class realy does not have a lot of option at this point of the game. 😦
Well this is an outdated video since obsidian armor got nerfed, it used to be obscenely powerful for being an early pre-hardmode armor set (used to be able to carry you all the way to plantera lol) You aren't wrong about summoners not having many options though (thankfully this is being improved in 1.4.5)
man i'm right before golem, I can't kill any of those, I guess I don't have potions or/and my weapons are too shit, I have to get the onyx blaster asap
I have never played Calamity Infernum, and Calamity introduces a lot of items, so maybe you could consider another video, as this video is meant for master mode and vanilla Terraria.
I don't speak Spanish, but assuming by the translation, you are talking about the Night's Edge. In that case, I wouldn't recommend that weapon because it's short ranged.
