I always find tire repairs fascinating and, for me, impossible. I have never been able to repair anything inflatable, including a simple raft. Plugs have always been just a way to get to the tire repair shop. I wish you luck on this. The video is absolutely fun to watch.

My neighbor retired from a Kiote dealership and has a mower graveyard. Personally and at the shop he only uses leftover latex paint for repairing punctures. Break the bead and dump in a quart and reinflate. Never fix a tire leak again. It stays liquid until it exposed to air (leak). Once in a while you see a paint spot and think "there's a leak I didn't have to fix". You're welcome!

This is interesting! Thanks for the idea. I’ll keep that in mind for the next time. I think I’ve got some old latex paint that would work great. Keep on tractoring!

Plug kit is a must, especially if you travel overnights or in remote places where a tire shop is either closed or otherwise unavailable. Probably not DOT approved

I've had My compact leak. Local tire shop put tubes in both front tires for 20.00. Almost 20 yrs later tires stay hard and tread is pretty well worn off the R4 s. A soft tire will puncture easier than a hard one.

Jon, I put tubes in my front tires as they were always leaking down since the tractor was new. Haven't had a problem since.

Plugs are great, work well. Fix-a-flat I think that is what you said you were going to use. That’s a no no.

You just stirred memories I was hoping to never remember again!!! I had a hole that was too big for the plug to take a good grip and stay in place. I had to replace the plugs as they kept popping out. So instead of putting a plug, I put in an inner tube. Well that kinda worked except the nightmare of over protecting the bump, the size of your thumb, coming out from the sides. Every time I used the tractor, I had to be mindful of ANY objects coming close to the bump caused by the inner tube protruding out the hole on the side. After a few months, I had to get a new tire. Oddly enough, it was cheaper to get a set which included tire and rim on Amazon, than getting the tire at my local dealership. I still have nightmares of ALMOST having a heart attack each time I missed judgement and a branch gently brushed the bubble. I was lucky each time but it was way too stressful to keep pushing my luck. Seeing you put the plug on the same side that I had mine, triggered my PTSD created from "Da Plug!" lol

Oh no, that would drive me crazy trying to avoid bursting that bubble. Keep on tractoring!

John, I wouldn’t do that if I were you you left to replace the rim in a couple of years because it’ll screw it up

Wow, that is a nice kit! I think I'm going to get me one of those. Fabulous stuff and great practical ideas for a new tractor owner or even someone who's had tractors for a while.

Nice work, Jon! I’ve used those plugs in tractor fronts too. I’ve also used them in the front dolly wheel of my zero turn. I get lots of punctures on those.

I’ve had great luck with them so I’ll stick to what works I guess. Keep on tractoring!

Hello Jon. That looks like a very nice plug kit, I am going to get one. I have not had a flat yet on our B2601, but I am noticing some nasty cuts on the treads of the front tires. We have R14 tires and would love to discover a way to patch up the treads to lengthen the life of the tires. Great video. Thanks, Ben
