Thanks so much for tuning back into Chickanic! One of the most common issues I see with homeowners Husqvarna saws are chain break issues. I have customers come in weekly who have pried off their side cover without releasing the chain brake. When this happens, they can't put it back on the saw because the break band is in the way. Now it is really simple to release the break back into the correct position, but some customers think they need to tear it apart and see what's wrong. If you happened to do this, hopefully after watching my video, you will be able to fix it by yourself to save you TIME, MONEY and FRUSTRATION in the future!!

THANK YOU JESUS & CHICKANIC!!!!! I spent about a frustrating hour trying to get that band loosened so I could put the side cover on. I ended up disassembling the whole unit and having the springs fly apart. I lost one piece and spent a half hour looking for that. When I finally found it, I put it on the box and I was gonna have to take it backto our local shop to have it put back together. Luckily I thought of you first. God bless you.

Hubby just had to remove his ChainBrake on his Husqvarna saw the other day. It locked up just one time too often and he was sick of it. His had a Keeper on the part that you were having such a hard time putting back, the part above the spring, with three ears. It had a small C like keeper on it and when he removed it, he almost lost it but, found it after looking around the back of the truck. He taught me a few new words, not good words either, when he was having to do this out while trying to cut up a tree that had fallen in the driveway. lol We always look to your channel here on RU-vid for advice and help when we are having issues with any small engine home-fix. You are the "wo-MAN" lol Thanks for all you teach us all.

My 450 rancher was running but smoking. I suspected a stuck brake and pulled it. Iwas packed with gunk all around and in the spring area. I blew it out and cleaned it and as I was putting it down the spring sprung. Across the garage. What a bear putting that back. But you make it look easy. Thank you for educating us.

I have been working with equipment with my hands my entire life, and have lost some sensitivity in my fingers , so I bare hand it most times. Only while handling chemicals or things that have a tendency to puncture or tear flesh will I wear gloves. So I can sympathize with using bare hands to do a lot of repair work. Loved the video. Thank you for a first rate site and presentation. I have an entire new respect for small engine work. I'm looking to replace the carb on my Husqvarna hedge trimmer, so I will be hunting through your tutorials for help. I viewed your tutorial on the Sthil top handle that went in the lake-needless to say I was amazed at the detail. Having wrestled with springs and clamps as an aircraft mechanic, I have used a vice to compress the spring and string or safety wire to keep it compressed. Once installed, cut your retention device. Works well on adel clamps that just a bit too tight to hold while you get the screw started.

Good job Chickanic? I had the same kind of debacle but on a 565 Husky with an inboard clutch. I was replacing the chain brake handle and you have to take that little cover off of the spring and mechanism to take the handle off. I wasn’t realizing that I needed to keep pressure on the spring and everything flew out of the saw when I tried to install the handle. Luckily I found all of the small pieces. With a big flat head I got the spring back in it’s pocket but almost gave myself a hernia in the process. You are definitely strong!

I did see your previous video on fitting the assembly close up to the saw and using the chainbrake handle to disengage the band. I tested that method on a Poulan (exact same assembly, made by Husqvarna) but it didn’t work all that well so I kept thinking about how to rotate that gizmo flat on the bench. This was before I found the video on modding a scrench to DIY a purpose-built tool for that job. Then it dawned on me that I have an adjustable angle grinder wrench with two studs that might work. Sure enough, if you adjust it to fit and put a fair amount of downward pressure on it while holding the assembly flat on the bench it works! The good news is, most folks with tools already have this wrench if they have an angle grinder! Also, FWIW, the first time I DID remove the assembly from a saw while the brake was on, not knowing any better. The next time I wanted to take the entire unit apart to really clean it out well so my method worked great. Now, thanks to you, I know the last piece of the puzzle - how to lever the spring into compression to reinstall the hardware into the assembly. Thanks! One other thing - I’ve figured out that there’s always a way to do this sort of reassembly if you keep in mind that they do it at the factory constantly. It’s just a case of looking at the entire assembly closely to see how they must have done it. That or maybe having access to a service manual. 👍🔧🧰

I'm in the same boat about needing "cheater" glasses for anything closer than about 10 feet. I found a pair of bifocal sunglasses. They're perfect for seeing the road, and still being able to read the speedometer!

I made a tool. From our chain saw tool box of many. Some call it a scrench. I used a cut off wheel and removed three opposing sides. Fits into the side cover, and unlocks it. Don't let your customers see you do this. Just take the cover in the back, unlock it and bring it back to the front counter. When they say how did you do that? I tell them you gotta have the right tool for the job Beavis.

That's different than the one I tried to fix it was all together it was a 43 star series 90 something model Husky had to carry it to the dealer but I enjoyed it as always just keep on keeping on 👍🤞🍑🤠

Wow! I needed that last bit of information on getting it unlocked to get it back on, was cleaning it and somehow the brush tripped it on,took me for ever to get unlocked with screwdriver and needle nose .

Hear and see a lot of chainsaws humming, and splitters running around here in south Michigan, a lot of farmers and guys sell firewood here. They sell mostly by the face cord and will deliver and stack if you want. You see a lot of those firewood furnaces I believe they are boilers and baseboard or radiator heat with the boiler and wood a short distance from house. In the city people have fireplaces or wood stoves. I have a soapstone wood stove and buy wood from a local farmer and his son.

Been there done that with my Husqvarna, got it all cleaned up and put back together and running good and had a tree come down one day got it out and all the fuel lines were bad, do you have a how to video replacing fuel lines? Been putting it off a couple months now doesn’t seem like to bad of a job watched a couple of videos just waiting for the time. I came across your channel and have really learned a lot. Take one of your scrap husky saws chain brake handles off and you can use that as a tool to release the chain brake.

Several months ago you had a video about Stihl oil. I am beginning to believe that going with premixed 2-cycle fuel and even some 4 cycle fuel in my small generators is the way to go. Long shelf life even if opened. Higher octane rating. Most definitely higher price. I am careful about mixing 2 cycle oil and ethanol free gas. I have even added a fuel conditioner. However I may not use a gallon of fuel in my chain saw or string trimmer during the regular season. I would appreciate your thoughts.

I do not regularly use 2 stroke equipment. My chainsaw might sit a year between uses. Leaf blower used intensively for 4 weeks per year. Weedeater every other week for 30 minutes. 1 gallon of mix is going to go bad. So I take a 500 ml empty water bottle, use a children’s medicine cup to measure 10 ml, pour into water bottle, then fill bottle with gas. 50:1 fresh every time. If I need 40:1, go eyeball 12.5 ml instead of 10 ml. Fresh half liter every time. Most blowers and weed wackers have about a 500 ml tank anyway. No waste, no mess, fresh fuel. Two different friends have brought my 2 stroke equipment this past few months. Both units just needed a fuel dump & fresh fuel.

Safety glasses are a must my boss did something dangerous last week. Not going in to the details but without his safety glasses he would of lost an eye most definitely bad accident his face looked bad cut bleeding glasses bent up len knocked out but it saved hid eye . 5/8 bolt high speed hit him . His lucky day he had them on . Maybe this true story might save someone sight to .

It's funny you ask. I literally only have one consistent customer come in for edger blades. So I just keep the standard Echo one in Stock. We barely have any sidewalks here in Arkansas and most homeowners and landscapers have come accustomed to using their string trimmer. A 50 set of Echo blades would go for around $100 US. Oregon and Stens are much cheaper, but I wouldn't know the difference since I don't personally use them. Thanks again for watching!

yes that charger 4000s is probably top of the line 150 bucks and for somebody that charges 10 or 15 batteries and a lot one right after another without charging it might be a good deal but for the average guy it is very extremely expensive and not necessary 2000 amp charger many many brands are available and in your shop what you use is probably okay but the average guy does not need to spend all that money

I don't think husqvarna is a bad saw most problems r customers that don't take care of them and only use them twice year than bitch there junk because they won't run but they leave gas in them as far as chain brake same thing used to get 2 or 3 a week they left chain brake on took cover off

@@Chickanic actually I remember now, I tried to do it once. But I did wake up and realise what I was doing. But thank you for all your tips, the one about the spark arrestor on a Stihl was well worth hearing. I'll be looking at that every time I get a Stihl problem now, and maybe will stick to Stihl a little longer after all. It's been looking lately as if Echo is a better bet.

I didn't see you fix anything. My husky chainsaw's chain brake would not disengage right out of the box. I had to disassemble the chain brake assembly and use my dremel to cut several coils, one at a time, out of the tensioner spring. It has worked beautifully ever since. I thought your video was how to repair the chain brake. All I saw you do was take it apart and put it back together. That wouldn't have fixed mine. 🤷‍♂️

I was showing people the parts and how to put it back together when they have taken it apart, when they didn't need to. I have tons of customers who come in with it in pieces thinking it was the problem, when they take it off the saw with the brake still engaged. I HIGHLY do NOT recommend ever dremmeling out your spring coils. I am 100% sure that was not needed and I could have disengaged it without doing all that.

Mechanix Wear makes a good assortment of gloves, some are kinda pricey though. I use brown jersey gloves for greasy, nasty work. If not careful, you can develop skin problems on your hands/fingers that require painful steroid injections. Take it from me, it's no fun and may stay with you for life. Ps- What's nastier than a well used chainsaw? How about a well used macerator pump. 🤣

Yeah uhhh. I didn’t watch a video. And I was trying to press the braking system cover into it…. Wouldn’t work, used a deadblow hammer and started smashing it. Smashed a perfect circle right through the plastic. Gonna have to order a $20 part now😓. Cuz I’m a jackass
