We tried all the various methods of removing the Auger from our GE washing machine shown on youtube (squeezing the bottom of the Auger, sticking a screw driver in the bottom hole of the Auger, etc.), and nothing worked. Finally went and bought an adjustable strap wrench from Walmart for $6.97 plus tax and this made removal of the Auger a very simple task. Also none of the videos showed removal of the Auger while it was still in the machine so we decided to post this video that shows the actual removal of the Auger using the strap wrench.
P.S. always a good idea to unplug the washing machines electrical cord when working on the washing machine.
