If your Yamaha DTXplorer has a 'low battery' or 'initializing error' message when you turn it on, then it's time for a replacement battery. Don't worry, it's a simple job that'll only take 10 minutes, a #2 phillips screwdriver and a pair of pliers.

Brilliant. Just changed in 15 mins and all good. Only fiddly bit making sure you reconnect white clip, but very easy.

Thanks! Worked perfectly. Did get an initialize data error after replacing the battery, but turned on and off and it was good to go, no more low battery warning!

worked great, i got the initialize error too but perfect after turning off and on. I also had a little cable tie holding the board onto the cables that run into the back, i needed to carefully remove it so i could get the pcb cable back in to the board. thanks for helpful video

I haven't changed it yet, but I get the battery error and another error, and it doesn't save my sets. Is that also caused by the battery? I've never opened the module since I got it.

If the battery is low and needs changing, it won’t save any new data.

I changed the battery, but now it won't turn on. Is there anything I need to press after changing the battery and plugging the cable back in?

Nope. Would check ribbons and white cable is in properly and not bent the pins.

I guess you will obviously lose any kits you put together when you factory reset??

The white plastic holder won’t come loose for me, even with pliers. Any ideas?

The quick connect will release if you keep the board still and pull it straight out. That’s why we use a thumb to anchor to the edge of the board and pull away from it.

You reconnect white wire properly? Make sure pins not bent when put back in.

Hold shift, press utility, scroll right with arrows until factory comes up.

2 notes: (1) Mine had a zip tie around that cable you disconnect and the board. That kept me from disconnecting the center clip. (2) The battery flips up out of the casing with a nudge under the opening. Cracked part of the casing before I realized that. 🤦‍♂️

Would you like me to show you how to use a screw driver too? Getting to the battery is the hard part and if you need someone to show you how to replace a battery in a holder, I might suggest taking it to a professional as it’s obviously beyond uou.
