Dude, the simple task of dragging the footage that you want into another video track ALONE blew my mind. This was super helpful. I'm working on my first documentary and my process of choosing what I wanted was to keep copy pasting stuff further into the timeline. Lots of constant scrolling left and right that caused a lot of frustration.

+Levi Allen A guy I follow on vimeo. Was looking at what he 'liked' on vimeo. "UNTETHERED" came up and watched that beautiful film, which I have to say you did an amazingly unreal job on. Then started to look at what else you were up to on Vimeo, then seen you had an active RU-vid channel. I'm now in the process of watching all your videos ha. I'm also in Van so it's pretty rad to see what another young guy is producing. I'll definitely sign up for it. I'm sure I'll have some questions as well. Thanks Bro!

Incidentally, you can drag all the clips up to the next track and then you can select all the clips on track 1 and ripple delete to get rid of all the holes. You do need to remember to cut the audio tracks too. Grouping your audio tracks with the original clip can make that easier.

Great video, I edit interviews for my company but as a designer I'm not that great with video. I mostly use AE which is not great for this sort of editing. This helps with narrowing down footage, skimming through and making cleaner cuts. I can then use a dynamic link to take it to AE. Also agree with others, constant gain is a great tip. Thanks.

Awesome pointers, thanks. Only difference I would add is when cutting bits out I use CMD+K and then 'Q' on where I want to restart, makes it a little faster skipping the gap deleting. Then I use Shift+D to quickly transition the audio over multiple cuts.

Pretty nice way how to go on about it. Do you also add markers so you know in which clip they talk about what when you mash those person's clips together or are you simply playing them to find the right piece at any time?

Leftcoast Media House Hmm.. I have one or two : How do you go about grading efficiently a movie. I loose my mind in premiere, trying to have consistency throughout the film. Also, let's say your in a wedding, do you always shoot 60p, so you can have slow mo if need be, or straight 24p? Besides the smaller size file, what are the real benefits of shooting 24p ? If I have other questions to ask, I'll let you know ! And thank you for caring.

If you use a DSLR to get the footage, how would you transfer the file from the camera onto the desktop?
@jacobmossmedia8794
@jacobmossmedia8794 4 года назад
Hi Leena. It depends on the DSLR and your computer, but typically your DSLR will have a removable SD memory card, and oftentimes your computer will have an SD slot. Then just drag and drop from folder to folder. But if your computer does not have an SD slot, you may have to get a SD to USB adapter. OR your camera may have come with a cord that can go directly from the camera into your computer, in which case use that lil guy. Good luck!
