Yeah, totally. Super Mario Maker is the way to go, but if you wanted to build your own SMB game on a cart, this works.

There is some documents on romhacking.net how to edit music but ITS SUPER DUPER HARD so beware

So...I figured out how to change some aspects of the music in SMB (and some other NES games). Namely, how to turn it off, brute-force style by editing all notes to values that make no sound. One thing I have learned is that SMB’s main theme is all arranged as several blocks of notes that are then called upon in the arrangement. Think; a timeline in a DAW, with the minimal amount of short MIDI clips arranged across all the channels to completely build out the song. Long short, I can make a “minor” Mario theme like this, but I cannot make a badass “Giant steps” arrangement because everything is repeated so often. Some other games I would potentially have a lot more leeway with, because they actually have spare room in the game data. This one most certainly and absolutely has literally no spare room, lol. So efficient. I have been learning a lot about this on my own lately, so I can do playthroughs where I record the full soundtrack and play the whole game “at the same time” (I have to pause to actually record the song, but then it runs live looped and I switch songs on the fly). Fun fact - the Underground theme is ONE string of notes that is sent to all channels. The underwater theme is the most straightforward arrangement, and the castle theme, that’s also super short because of the clip “arrangement”. I learned so much more from SMB than any of the other games I’ve “silenced” so far!

right click the .RAR file and look for extract here or if you installed 7zip..look for 7zip and then extract

You can use Lunar Magic to edit super Mario world... But I don’t know about other SNES games.

You can use a patch to "clear" all of the levels, which in fact all objects and enemies are changed to one single entity, duplicated along the whole level. Sadly you can't add objects; SMB is notoriously known for having nearly-zero free space. Even if you were to expand the ROM; SMB Utility wouldn't accept it.

This program is just for Super Mario (or any of the SMB1 hacks) but other games may have specific level editors.

Awais Mahar try downloading a different SMB1 rom it might be the rom you’re using

Winrar. There you can extract the files out.
