Make sure you are using a good battery though...the first one I tried wouldnt melt anything..second one I almost cut the wax into 3 with the heat because I didnt expect it to work so quickly. Cheers Laurence

Yes. Very true. A proper, fully charged battery will slice foundation immediately. It just needs a couple of taps to get it to embed

Do you use this method on all your 14x12 frames? If so do you just buy unwired National deep foundation and let the bees draw the rest down? What’s your thoughts on using plastic foundation for 14x12’s or supers? Thanks.

In the past I have used wired foundation but now use this method for all frame sizes. You need to use the correct size of foundation or they will just draw any gaps up with drone brood which is a real pain (unless they draw it late in the season). Im not a fan of plastic foundation but see others have success with it. I think it would work well in a brood box but if you have issues with disease it can become problematic.

@@darrylclements814 I would go for at least 3 but preferably 4 rows on a 14 x 12. You can get away with 3 on a standard national and 2 on a super

@@beemaniauk what do you do if there is problems with disease on those frames? Where you do buy your plastic foundation? It seems hard to find plastic for 14x12 frames.
