To everyone complaining theyre not getting 120hz on 1440p even with HDMI 2.0 this is also happening to me. This feature is not yet finished and and still needs updates to support more tvs/monitors capable of 1440p 120hz.
NOT SURE IF ANYONE HAS SAID THIS If you can only test 60hz at 1440p and 120hz doesnt appear, make sure that In your MONITOR SETTINGS (not ps) that g-sync, or free sync or whatever the equivalent is turned off then test again. Should help.
@@yuniel2010 try using the HDMI cable that came with the Ps5 , turn off HDR, turn off VRR (if its on). Is it 1440p@120Hz that doesn't work or 1440p in general?
@@mndr1348 i use the ps5 hdmi cable and then even tried the series x hdmi. My 1440p works with the series x and laptop without a problem. Nothing on the ps5.
@@yuniel2010 maybe the update hasn't appeared for you, check that your ps is up to date. In video settings there should be a test 1440p output tab if it ain't there then you're on the old update.
@@mndr1348 thanks but it had and yes I ran the 1440p and it doesn’t work. From the bit I found your tv had to have 1440p natively, whatever that means, not just be able to get 1440p which my tv can get
turn of free sync or alternative - turn off hdcp - test connection 1440p - go into cod and turn on 120hz in settings - it will work as long the testing says 120hz compatible. you have turn 120hz on in every game I think
WOW bro. Ive been racking my brain trying to figure this out, not a SINGLE video says that a game has to be running for it to be in 120hz SMH! that should be the first thing mentioned! Now i get 120hz when i open a game im mindblown that thats all it was, thank you!
This is insane. Fortnite at 2k and 120 fps🤩. Works with Hdmi 2.0. You cant play at 4k 120 fps anyway, so i bough the perfect monitor. I had to turn Gsync and Freesync off
@@marcussorensen5549 Gsync has no effect on performance. What could happen is, that you get tearing as the FPS are not synched with the Hz of the monitor.
Currently works for me, got 1440p x 120hz on my monitor (It’s an ASUS VG27AQ) was wondering if it is better at playing COD competitively or should I switch back to 1080p
Hi, thanks for the Video. Iim trying to understand if i need HDMI 2.1 for 2k gaming with 120hz. Any updates here ? Thanks in advance and a great day to you all :)
I can't get 1440p 120hz on my ps5, it doesn't even give me the option. It only goes to 1080p 120hz, but on my series x it gives me the option like you have to switch between the resolutions and frame rates and will play in 1440p 120fps, but I can only get 1080p 120fps on the ps5... could someone explain what may be the problem? It's the same tv for both consoles
Bro my monitor is ass or something, it costed 600 dollars and it says max 240 herz, but, when im playing games, for example fortnite, when im turning my screen on 120 herz i can see my monitor glitching, and this big ahh monitor cannot even get higher quality than 1440p, cuz i can see the god damn pixels, is that the problem in hdml thingy or what
My Sony tv says im on enhanced mode and im in 2160p with performance in and 120hz output on automatic…my Fortnite is still not giving me an option to switch to 120fps..
I have a KTC mini-led 27 inch 4k 165hz monitor that has HDMI 2.1 and even in the description before i bought the monitor it says it supports VRR and I still can’t play 1440p 120hz and i tried 2 different HDMI 2.1 cables and still doesn’t work. it says it’s not supported not even at 60hz anyone know how to fix this ? yes i have free sync or any type of sync already off and have HDR off as well and even tried it with VRR off and still nothing.

When I check my resolution on my LG monitor it say 3840x2160 but when I go to the PlayStation I can’t select 1440p because it say “The connected HDMI device doesn’t support 1440p output”.. any idea why? Do I need to change the monitor or the cable?
Same bullshit with me, and my tv does 1440p 120 hz on the series x. No you don’t need to change the cable because I use the series x cable and same issue. From the only thing I’ve seen your tv has to have native 1440p not just pick up 1440p whatever the hell that means.
@@Prototypelife19999 nope nothing yet, someone said to make sure you’re on performance mode. Can’t check until next week, so if you want to check that.
I have the LG 32GK650F monitor which supports 1440p 144hz; but on my ps5 it only supports 1440p 60hz SDR for some reason. Anybody know how I can unlock 120hz?
@@hades8289 I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, and it doesn't work since it has to be compatible with HDR, for that reason I had to buy another one to enjoy 120Hz
It will only work with DP. PS5 has not DP so since your monitor probably has HDMI 2.0 it's not supported...That's what is not mentioned in this video. Not many monitors have HDMI 2.1 out there as there are built to run with DP.
@@saurabh31ful same with my 4k tv doesn't support 1440p but my 1440p monitor does with the same HDMI. My guess is that the TVs we have only can have the pixel and AA for 720p 1080p or 4k but not 1440p. But if you have a 4k tv why do you want 1440p? Does it only allow 1440p 120hz vs 4k 60 or something?
@@saurabh31ful this update is only for people that don't have 4k TV's or monitor it doesnt make sense to use 1440p instead of 4k unless your TV only supports 1440p 120 instead of 4k 60
Ok…. For me my TV is native 120hz hdmi 2.0 So I can game at 120fps but only at 1080p which looks like dawg shit after playing in 4K. So now after the update I can run games at 1440p@120 and I’m loving it💯💯
I think it switches to 120hz based on what game you are playing. My brother's says 1440p @60hz. But if he opens war zone. Then goes and checks the output with the game open in the background. The Ps5 says its in 1440p @120hz. So, Idk.
