BNG is Bulgarian Lev. It is "linked" to the EUR with 1 EUR being 1.955 BGN. It is very strange that these currencies are tied, but the interest for BGN is 2.5% and for the EUR it is 4%.

I see now that the interest rate is up to 5.20% for GBP however it is as high as 7.00% for HUF. Would it be worth depositing money in Hungarian forint and then earning the 7% on this or will this come with a fee when I then come to withdraw my money back into pounds? Thanks
@Dr.JubairsFinance
@Dr.JubairsFinance 5 месяцев назад
I get this question all the time. It's not worth it, you're not considering the devaluation of Hungary's currency compared to the pound, if their inflation rate is higher, then their money becomes less valuable at a faster pace than the pound.

Hi, excellent video. For tax purposes, whether the earned interests in etoro is savings income or subject to capital gains for hmrc ? For wise, interests may be capital gains or home as cash is put in short term bond.

What are your thoughts on CSH2 as opposed to leaving your cash as uninvested on 212? Presumably not much difference? As CSH2 is an accumulation MMF would this however be taxed as capital gains outside of an ISA?
@Dr.JubairsFinance
@Dr.JubairsFinance 6 месяцев назад
I think the advantage of having it in uninvested cash, is if you like trading a lot, so the money is available instantly, instead of having to sell the ETF. It's just an extra layer in between. But yes, the CSH2, gives you slightly more, so could be a better choice for some.

I can't tell you what you should invest in unfortunately. VWRP could be a good long-term choice. Also, no need for an invest account, unless you have more than £20,000 to invest per year, or just get a lot of free shares. Doesn't hurt to open one and leave it empty.

The only way you would lose money is if your country that you’re holding currency capital with enters estate of deflation with negative rates for example the yen. So as long as interest rates are above, or even slightly above your countries inflation rate, this is a good move, all you need to do if you’re really concerned about rates is find out when the next CPI and interest rates announcements are going to take place and act accordingly For instance GBP inflation 3.9% GBP Interest rate 5% so the only way this would be a bad move is if GBP interest rates were to fall below of 3.9%

So what your saying is unlike trade republic where your cash is safe up to 100,000€ and earn interest up until 50,000€. Here your money is not safe but can earn interest on unlimited cash?
@Dr.JubairsFinance
@Dr.JubairsFinance 7 месяцев назад
That's not exactly what I'm saying, no. Your cash is still protected up to £85,000. There is a small risk with money market funds, but it's very unlikely that you will lose all of your money.
@deegoanator
@deegoanator 7 месяцев назад
Ok thanks but how is it protected up to 85,000 if there’s still a chance I lose my money
@deegoanator
@deegoanator 7 месяцев назад
Sorry might be a stupid question
@Dr.JubairsFinance
@Dr.JubairsFinance 7 месяцев назад
@@deegoanator I think you've misunderstood the whole concept and therefore are getting confused. Your funds in Trading 212 are protected up to £85,000, if Trading 212 fails as a business. When you gain interest, your money is put into money market funds by Trading 212. If these money market funds fail, which is very unlikely, because in order for them to fail, the government will most likely have to fail first as it is mostly short term government bonds, then you could lose some of your money. It's incredibly unlikely that this will happen, worse things will happen before this happens, just as a perspective. Technically speaking, putting your money in your pocket has a risk too, because it can fall out, or if you keep it too long, you can lose it's value to inflation.
@deegoanator
