How To Enable Wireless CarPlay On Your Subaru WRX 

No delay whatsoever, other than the initial connection when turning on the vehicle of around 20 seconds.

In a perfect world, I’d have wireless CarPlay from the factory. In this instance, I’m happy to have the module plugged in as this way even on extremely short trips, when we’re often in and out of the vehicle, we can take advantage of CarPlay without needing to plug and unplug multiple times.

You don’t need to forget within the Subaru system. Unsure about the second question sorry!

Thanks Omni. Regarding my 2nd question, it seems to be a quirk of the Bluetooth system, the way around it is to make sure Bluetooth is not selected (eg. select CD) in the touch screen dash when the ignition is turned off, thus BT is not initiated the next time you drive.

The best thing to do would be to check the manufacture website. I needed to do a firmware update to get it to work on this car.

I’m not too sure sorry. The NZ model lacks this USB port so we couldn’t test it out.

Where you plugged your phone into the USB in the “glove box” to charge your phone - are you able to plug this adapter unit in this location and have the same wireless CarPlay? Sorry if you already answered.

If you can use it with wired CarPlay, you can also plug this into the same port. In this STi, only the USB under the headunit worked with CarPlay.

This is only for CarPlay however there are options out there which are similar for Android.

To have Apple CarPlay.

If you're just fine playing music and making calls then by all means do nothing. This is for those of us with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. What does that do? Well access to Google maps, being able to use an assistant like Google or Siri, access to sending and receiving messages, etc. Usually you have to connect the phone with a cable to get those features to work. With this device it basically behaves just like it does for you, get in the car and pairs up without having the need for wires. Again, the difference being that now all those features I mentioned work without having to connect with a wire, not just be able to play music and make calls. Hope that helps

I’m really enjoying them. I’m close to purchasing a full set of 12+ and potentially trying out some of the industrial sprayers. The harshest chemical I’ve used to-date with the standard sprayer is P&S Brake Buster and have had no issues with this. Highly recommend them so far!

@@OmniGarage Good to hear, I'm in Aus so similar to you guys in NZ shipping can be a bit pricey from OG and so I wanna be sure they are durable before buying them. The OG labels on the industrial bottles look amazing so I'll probably pick up those once Matt starts to offer individual labels.

@@OmniGarage have you ever seen them? They do look OEM. They are made to replace the whole center head unit cover. You can get them with super fast cpus, and they function just like a tablet.

Sure have, even installed many of them in my time. Personally nothing ever beats clean OEM interior especially in a relatively new car.

This is a good option if you want to retain your OEM head unit.

Once done, it never needs to be done again! Well worth it in my opinion.
