I daily my 400whp Legacy GT. Blouch 20g, RA block, B35 heads and flex fuel. I had an 08 NA legacy that I used to daily but it was totaled when someone hit me at a stop light. So I've been dailying my GT out of Necessity. I've had it just under 2 years and did a motor swap and transmission last year. I'm at 15k miles on the new build. Keep up the good work man, good video

For anyone thinking, “damn that’s a lot of money for 400hp,” you’re right! WRXs aren’t the choice for cheap big-boy power. However, you can have a fast (340whp) and daily-driver reliable WRX for only $1500 in mods. On my ’17 WRX I just have an AEM V3 water methanol injection kit and a e50 tune. My car makes 340whp and 330ft-lbs. The methanol keeps the valves clean so you don’t need catch cans or EGR delete, and methanol cools the intake air below ambient so you don’t need a front mount intercooler. I run the 250cc V3 nozzle and go through 1.25 gallons of 50% methanol per tank of gas. I pay $5 per gallon for methanol after mixing VP M1 50/50 with distilled water. Going with a straight e50 tune doesn’t require a flex fuel sensor or upgraded fuel pump. I fill up three 5 gallon containers with e85 and two more with 93 at the pump. Then I test the ethanol content when I get home and do the math to mix up 20 gallons of e50 split between four 5 gallon containers. Whenever my fuel gauge gets to halfway I add 5 more gallons of e50. It’s honestly super easy to keep up with and actually pretty fun. Makes me feel like a race car pit crew when I’m prepping my fuel a couple times each month. So yeah, $600 for the methanol kit, $600 for the Accessport, and $300 for an e50 etune. That’s all I have done to my car and it makes more power than FBO WRXs, and it does it in a much safer manner (clean valves, permanently below ambient intake temps, and 340/330 puts me in no danger of shattering the WRX transmission). My car looks, sounds, and drives like stock (not counting wheels and tint), but it has ~65% more power for $1500.
@StreetInspired1

Thank you for this comment!! I've been telling people this for years. You can make 320-350whp on a completely stock wrx with an e30-60 tune. Ethanol does so much for these cars and Without a turbo upgrade every mod adds a few HP here and there but is a few extra thousand bucks really worth an extra 50hp? It depends but its not needed. You can definitely build a fun 350hp wrx for less than $2,000!

I live in eastern PA and commute towards the Philly area every day for work, the main and almost only reason I got the CVT instead of manual. Just this week traffic was so bad, that my average MPH for the drive was 30mph. Good to see my thoughts on the exhaust are justified, I'm only trying to get to around 320whp and don't want to add a loud exhaust for the reasons you mentioned.

I've been driving manual in NYC for over a decade. Not as modded as yours but an Outback XT with every Cobb accessory available (at the time) plus a pro dyno tune. I'm only putting 250hp to the pavement but in 2005 it only made that same number at the flywheel. Before that, for a decade, I drove a manual delivery truck in mid-town. There have been a few times I'd have liked an auto but not enough to buy one. If you ever want to drown out your buzz just drive alongside my "old grey dad-mobile";)

I'm glad you pointed out how expensive it is to continually mod your car. Of course the bigger channels have companies throwing their shit at them but at that point they can afford to buy the parts themselves so it's kind of a double edged sword. Keep up the awesome work man. Edit: I have a 19' STI and the a/c is the same with mine; bogs the shit out of the engine, and it barely gets cold enough. It turns the car into even more of a turd.

I just bought a 2004 wrx that’s COMPLETELY stock a month and a half ago. Nothing is wrong with it and I love driving it. I daily drive the car as well and I don’t have any problems yet. I did put a aftermarket exhaust and intake on the car, so it is a little bit more noisy, but not anywhere close to as loud as yours. I would hate driving it if it was that loud. I love your build on your car and I also want to make my car push about 400whp as well someday. Only thing I would change on ur car is that exhaust😅. Everything else is really nice. All part of growing up and becoming a man. Life can drastically change in 5 years. I mention 5 years because most car loans are 60 months. I’m now 50 and have box after box of bad ass parts for my WRX. About to go to the shop and get installed. I recently became a Subaru owner and I really like this car. I’ve always had Trans Ams and the last one I had it sat mostly in a warehouse. I never drove it. I drive the subbie. Back to my point, you’re becoming a man. Be a man, work hard in about 25 years you can come back to this. Good luck.

I've lived and I've learned. I've modified every car I've ever owned and its in my blood and I can't drive a stock car unless I know I have something else I can drive whenever I want. I sold my last modded wrx for a brand new premium altima and hated it so bad I sold it during a dip in the market on them and lost a few thousand on it just to get into another wrx. The biggest thing I've learned is it's best to have 2 cars, one completely stock and comfortable and the other as crazy as you want to build it haha

I had a 2013 Buick Regal CXL 2.0 DIT and have a 2017 WRX 2.0 DIT and I can tell you the AC is barely even noticeable on the Regal and the WRX you think something is wrong when it kicks on and off. I'd love to know what the fundamental difference is between them since one was clearly implemented well and one was not. To address that exhaust issue, from experience the answer is to replace that midpipe with a PLM 3" resonated stainless steel one. We have the Grimmspeed catted Jpipe, the PLM resonated midpipe and remark 4" deletes and love it. Been there done that and it completely changed the game with the resonated midpipe. The pops are deeper, the overall tone is deeper, drone is gone. I have cold start videos of the different exhaust setups on my channel.

It is recommended to change oil between 2000-3000 miles if you're running E85 most of the time because of ethanol contamination. You can get your oil analyzed by Blackstone labs to get data on your engine health and oil condition if you change oil at 5000 miles. You might see excessive bearing material in the oil analysis if the oil has degraded too much.

Should I get a STI drive train in my wrx? I've see other wrx's with 500hp still with a wrx transmission but I would still like to have it for a peace of mind or is they're more problems with the sti transmission. You mentioned that you were going to explain in a later video about your issue with the sti transmission. Overall great video
@StreetInspired1
@StreetInspired1 2 года назад
It's debatable. The sti transmission is supposed to be very tough everyone says theyre "bulletproof" but then after you get one you find out they are notorious for 4th gear grind and my 10k mile 2020 sti transmission swap is one of those with that grind. You can get another wrx transmission for about $2,000-3,000 used. So if you blow up your wrx transmission you would have to replace it 2 times to cost what it costs to swap in an sti drivetrain. The sti swap is great especially if you plan to utilize the dccd, but its expensive. Now with that being said the wrx transmissions literally pop at any time. I blew up my transmission in my last wrx with hard driving at 70k miles. I blew up the transmission in this wrx just while cruising at 17k miles. I'm not sure but I would imagine it would have. I think most catted J Pipes still throw codes. I know Grimmspeed advertised that their new V2 Gesi catted J pipe won't throw codes and I think it's strictly because of the Gesi G Sport cat. Which I believe has 400 cells.

Since you said to ask questions if we have any I have one haha I also want to get my 2017 Subaru Wrx to 400whp but that’s usually the danger zone for failures or stuff breaking. I was wondering if you’ve had any issues with your car when you hit 400whp and if you have what exactly have they been ? I know the stock block can’t really handle much. Quick note I only daily my car and I’m currently not tracking it so I don’t really do any overkill on it.
@StreetInspired1
@StreetInspired1 2 года назад
Honestly the transmission. Mines sti swapped for a reason but I've seen these transmissions go out literally on a stock car under 10k miles. The motor should handle 350-400whp reliably with the right mods and a good tuner. The biggest failure point for these cars is people running really agressive tunes or running cobb ots maps but having other branded stuff on the car etc. The transmission is the sketchy bit. The transmission should handle the power but the transmission REALLY hates 2 things. Launching, and hard/fast shifting. If you don't launch the car and granny shift and don't bang gears often it should have no problem at that power level. Even at the stock power level I've seen them explode from hard shifting so that's truly the thing to look out for! Besides that I haven't had any other issues. I know that's a big issue to have but the engine itself still feels very strong!

@StreetInspired1
@StreetInspired1 2 года назад
I've swapped out exhausts many times. The quietest setup being the stock sti carback since it's resonated and the stock wrx one isn't. Even with my aftermarket downpipe with the sti catback the car was quieter than stock. It's super quiet and very drone free. The stock wrx catback is the same mufflers without the resonator and I think that sounds stock when cruising but still has a crap tone of turbo whistle in the exhaust it just sounds pretty raspy which is my main problem with that setup. A full non resonated catback like this one sounds great and is super loud but drones like crazy and gets annoying sometimes when you just want a quiet drive. A resonated version of an exhaust like this is typically really nice, less drone and a deeper tone but you seem to lose all the turbo spool then.

I have a question sir: I see that you have the Radium dual catch can setup, which is exactly what I've wanted to put on my FA. Not sure if you've answered this in a previous video or not, just looking for some pointers ... how does the Radium setup compare to the IAG street AOS? I know they aren't the same product but installed for similar purpose. Which would you recommend personally? Also for some context, no I don't make big power lol just basic drivablility bolt-ons, (front mount, ebcs, j-pipe, catback, turbo inlet, intake, fuel pump, phatbotti tune). Edit: Nice ride, my friend!
@StreetInspired1
@StreetInspired1 2 года назад
The main reason I went with Radium was my tuner said that it's better than the aos at catching oil and it doesn't drain back into the sump like the street aos does. The track aos is better than the street because it vents to atmosphere but it requires a tune and the catch Cans don't. A lot of people will argue over this but my tuner swears the catch Cans are the best option. I do have an install video on the channel if you go that route. But I do highly recommend them!

To me it is upbadging because people associate the wing with an STI, not the WRX. They associate that wing with the ancient EJ, not the FA. Yeah the common argument is they share the same body style but lets be real, they're completely different cars. The STI is the top trim level performance vehicle just as a Type R is so the wings are justifiable for those models. No matter how WRX owners justify putting a STI wing on their cars it will always come off as poser energy imo. Not hating but thats just how I see it
@StreetInspired1
@StreetInspired1 2 года назад
@@BDA0531 I understand that completely. I grew up building DSMs and the Turbo Eclipses always got a taller Spoiler than the non turbo and the non turbo guys would put the turbo Spoiler on because it looked better and would always get shit for it. Usually after the non turbo guys turboed their car people didn't care as much. But it will always be a matter of opinion and at the end of the day the only one that matters on my car is my own. I have a full sti drivetrain, brembo brakes and Recaro seats and fully loaded. The car is literally equipped with everything an sti has just an fa20 instead of ej25. Back in the day the ej20 wasn't nearly as nice as the ej25 + bigger turbo in the sti, but the fa20 is a very worthy substitute to the ej25. Don't get me wrong I love the sti. But if I owned an sti I wouldn't care one bit about someone putting the sti spoiler on their wrx. I see scatpack chargers running the hellcat widebody and wheels and as long as is says "scatpack" on the side I never once mock them for it. Maybe I just don't care like some people do but to me it's just a wing. The duckbills on this car look okay but if you want something more agressive your options are either the STI Spoiler, or a huge ass apr wing. I saw one guy fab up a Spoiler off of a cobalt onto his wrx and it didn't look half bad but then he got mad shit for using a cobalt wing. So people can think I'm a poser as much as they want and it won't bother me any. The only reason I reply to these comments is to maybe try and change the way other people see it. We aren't putting the wing on to try to fool people. If we were going to try to fool people we would just slap the sti badge on the trunk and call it a day (I have seen people do this and completely disagree with it)
