I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Clear silicone may be an option. Make sure to cut a small hole in the caulk tube. The biggest mistake I find with caulk is using too much. cutting the hole too big makes a huge mess...tom

I apologize for the delayed response. It depends on the application, but I use "timber screws" on many porches. Toenailed in they are very secure, but check your local building codes to be sure...tom

That’s a good question. As long as the roof hangs over enough, it does not get wet. It should last a very long time.
