My one year old WANTS me to participate. I believe I’m too involved during play time because I believe the toys, space are good according to what you suggested. Time to be the observer, Thanks for the recommendation!!

My daughter is only 18 months, but she often grabs my hand and directs me to different toys around the place and forces my hand on top for me to entertain her. I’ll do something to get us started and stop for her to take the lead but she’ll grab my hand and place it on top again. Occasionally she will get bored of me and go get her dad 😂. We are working so hard to create a “yes” space but she keeps finding areas around the home that are No’s. 😅

My son is about to be 4 next month and I only found out more recently that they should have independent play. From the time he was born, I always stayed with him for all his playtime. He can’t stand to go play off on his own and it was really hard when I got pregnant with my daughter and was really sick with the pregnancy that I saw how hard it was on him when I couldn’t do anything with him for 4 months. Now that the baby is a bit older it’s gotten sorta easier but that newborn stage was stressful

When my babies were younger I felt bad when they were playing because I was always quiet compare to other family members but now I know I was being the observer but then every time I get up to use the bathroom or cook their dinner they get crazy! They see I’m moving and start crying hahah I hope it will go away as they get older

Aww so glad you took on the observer role! Perfect! Fostering independent play is tough. Hope this video provided some guidance. Let me know if there’s anything specific you want to learn about next! 💜

Literally LOLd when you did the high-pitched voice for the "no get out of there!" It's not what I sound like but it's what I feel like haha! Here's my challenge: we have this big open space that's the kitchen, dining room, and living room (and also where the dog's stuff is) so it's hard to make it a 'yes' space. I'm contemplating a big ol' baby gate type thing but I think she'll hate it. Any suggestions?
