Women’s false liberty and emancipation:
“This, however, is not the true emancipation of woman, nor that rational and exalted liberty which belongs to the noble office of a Christian woman and wife; it is rather the debasing of the womanly character and the dignity of motherhood, and indeed of the whole family, as a result of which the husband suffers the loss of his wife, the children of their mother, and the home and the whole family of an ever watchful guardian.” - Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubi

Hi! Love your channel!! Quick question, Would it be possible to purchase a Thrive membership for someone else using your link? My sweet daughter-in-law is due to have her baby soon, and she has 4 other children ages 7-14, and they live way out in the country. I was just thinking this would be a great gift to help her out.

You've said before in a video that you don't align yourself with woke ideology. Thrive is a very woke company. They support the mutilation of healthy body parts of children and beliefs that are contrary to the Catholic Catechism. Please reconsider marketing for that. 😢

I'll pray. I guess the message didn't go through. Please seek the Word over monetary value. Listen to your husband who I'm sure doesn't agree with this company's policies. Don't let hypocrisy in your heart. Love your channel so much and I love your message to women. Please stay in Biblical alignment. ❤

I also say this in a genuine way, not trying to be judgemental. I have been tempted by a couple great sounding ads from thrive on your channel and another. I have also heard negative things about thrive as a company and checked it out myself and did not like what I saw. I know that you aren't shy about your beliefs about your faith and lifestyle choices so it seems surprising that you would advertise for them. I do understand the struggle with wanting to buy healthy and feeling convicted about not wanting to shop at places that don't support my beliefs but actually are the exact opposite. (Amazon, Walmart, target) The struggle is real.

I NEVER thought I would want to be a stay at home mother. Until I had my first baby and went back to work when she was 6 months(and I realize I was extremely blessed to have 6 months). That was the worst feeling being away from your tiny baby for 10+ hours a day. I knew that was not natural and did not want that for myself or my children. It's such an unnatural idea to pay someone else to raise your children while you work. Also, I'm a mechanical engineer and all I ever wanted was to make a lot of money so that I could give my children everything I didn't have growing up and be able to provide for them financially if I was ever a single mother.

@Itsangela87 24 дня назад
I had my first two children at an early age (18 and 20) with an abusive husband. With my first I was a SAHM, and I didn't want to be due to the abuse I was enduring. When my 2nd was 4 months old, I started slowly toward my career in nursing. I had become an MA because it was the fastest way I could get out the house with the kids and on my own. That got me past the hurdle of leaving my children. I stayed in that profession for years because of how hard it was to commit to nursing school as a single mother. I met my current partner while I was in nursing school, had dreams of eventually becoming a midwife. When I got pregnant with my 3rd child, 9 years into our relationship, that dream quickly faded and I began to long for time with my daughter. I'm pregnant with my 4th and I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I am set on becoming a SAHM soon. Hard living in NYC to do it, as the cost of living is mind-blowingly high. But God-willing, it'll come to fruition.

Praying for you and your family 😊 I was also a Medical assistant and lived in nyc up until 10 years ago. I moved to Pennsylvania because yes nyc was too expensive for me and my family to live. I miss nyc so so much and occasionally visit family. I live in Bensalem, PA and it took me a very long time to get use to how quiet it is, compared to nyc. If you really want to leave nyc, pray to God. If he sees you really want the change for you and your family, he will help you 😊 God bless you and your family 😊

I love your take on things! I'm 53 years old and in a very busy time of life. Three grown sons, two daughter-in-laws, 8 grandchildren, aging parents who need rides to/from doctors, grocery stores, etc., plus a mom that lives 7 hours away who is a new widow and lives alone. I find myself running to each and every one of them when they call on me. It's like I wake up every day and wait for someone to tell me what I'm doing on that day. All the while, my body has just hit the menopause brick wall, and I'm adjusting to the hormones that have changed suddenly, and I've started trying to take better care of ME. (I've let my self-care go in favor of caring for others) I took up a new hobby, which is making sourdough bread, and making healthier choices when choosing what foods I put into my body. Not necessarily trying to lose weight, but that would be a bonus! I love that you encourage us that it's okay to be a homemaker and so much more. I'm loving your content.

I met my husband in the military and had our first son at 21. I got out of the military and continued to work and my husband asked me multiple times to stay home. I wouldn't do it, I thought I had to work because it was how I was taught to live "in case he left me". A few years ago after having our second son, I broke down crying, and came back to Catholicism. A few months later, I quit my job. It wasn't easy, I hated it at first. 2 years later, I can say that I am ultimately happy I did it and I have seen how it's changed my family life for the better. It's hard sometimes, but it's worth it. I do NOT miss my job whatsoever.

I’m so thankful for this video. I’m knee deep in switching to a homemaker with my first baby. My job before was a vet tech and I worked long hours, on call all hours of the day and night. I loved my job so much but I knew I wanted to be home more. I didn’t go back after having my baby and I really have struggled with feeling like I should be working and I miss it so much. But I also know I’m where I am supposed to be. It’s good to know I’m not the only one who has gone through this!

When I was a teacher, so many of my coworkers realized they hated dropping off their own babies to take care of other peoples kids all day. So many became stay at home moms for that reason. When we bought a house, we only used my husband’s income on the paperwork because I knew as soon as I had kids I’d want to be home. Steph, your baby is so precious 😍

Currently deciding/ planning to leave my successful career to be a SAHM in northern Spain (husband's home country). It's the hardest decision I've ever had to make, especially when I know the blood sweat and tears that have gone into getting my degree(s) and climbing the career ladder to get to where I'm at today. Although I've been doing it, it's overwhelming to make 99% meals from scratch, spend time with my 1 year old, cater to hubby, and still have time for quiet time with God and self-care. Yet, I know that deep deep down, all I want is to fulfill my role as a wife/mommy in the BEST way - which is not leaving my son in daycare for 9+ hours a day while I'm at work, and then scurrying home to play (an exhausted and overstimulated) superwoman, cooking and cleaning as quickly as I can with the remaining 3-4 hours of daylight. As I follow your content, listen to your testimony, delve deeper into biblical principles, and seek the Lord's discernment, I find myself more and more convicted (in a good way) about my priorities and the way we've been taught to interpret "success"; especially as women/mothers/wives. Elisabeth Elliot speeches *highly recommend* have been a TOTAL eye opener as well... I can't imagine living on one income and depending 100% on my husband (as silly as it sounds). It's a terrifying thought; But WHY? I ask myself ... I trust the Lord and his plans for our lives. I trust that he will make a way for HIS WILL. Meanwhile, my old self is being transformed (literally) by the renewing of my mind. Praise Jesus. There is nothing wrong with being a career woman! Each woman will have her own revelation and conviction if she is attentive to the still small voice. We all have our own walks and our individual purposes. So long as we open our eyes each morning and take in breath, we still have work and purpose on this earth. Thank you for your wisdom, Sister! ...And thanks to everyone else who has shared! XOXO

My husband and I were married at 21 yo, and I'm extremely blessed that it was always understood I would stay home and homeschool as many children as God would give us! That being said, it was a big adjustment going from the social buzz of being part of a large homeschooling family and college classes to being home with "just" my husband and I (and eventually our first baby). That first year was a huge adjustment, even with the examples of great housewives and mothers around me-- it's one thing to see it exemplified, quite another to go forth and do!

Thank you for sharing your story, I can also closely relate. I went through nursing school during the time I had my first baby, and I just so desperately wanted to stay home with my baby and also wanted more of them as well! My heart ached leaving my Kids behind to go off to school and ultimately work. By the grace of God, I did finish school …and after working full time and part time off and on, I just wanted to be with my family! I now only have to work two days a month and it’s been such a joy and extremely fulfilling being home more than I thought possible. We thought we had to be a two income household to get by as well! But God provides and revealed so much! The innate yearning to stay home was God’s call to discover and realize my true vocation. Praise God for his goodness!

This video was so nice to listen to! My husband and I decided I would be a stay at home wife from the beginning because we have a farm and had planned to start a family, which we now have our first due this year. At first it was the hardest thing ever when people would ask what I “do”. I felt so dumb saying that I’m a homemaker and run our little farm because I felt people really look down on “non career women”. I am now so thankful that I am at home and get to raise our little family. It’s the biggest blessing ❤

I feel similar, in America it's so common to be asked the question "what do you do?" like the first question after you say your name. If the answer is "wife/mom" or "homemaker" I feel like I'm instantly looked at as an ignorant fool for choosing that path. Working women will say "yeah I do everything you do AND I work, it's not that hard what you do." Just a lot of shaming and guilting and fear mongering that goes on. "What's your backup plan?" Etc.

You are so honest - I am pre-marriage & pre-baby but I already see myself doing the exact same "consumer mindset" lifestyle where I reward myself for everything (as is encouraged) & live at my maximum means. Even before this video you have been inspiring me to live simpler & intentionally in order to "afford" the lifestyle I really want in the future which is a homemaker/minimal working lifestyle with my husband. Thanks so much for sharing your story. There are actually quite a few discontent homemakers. Mainly because, I believe, they lack good role models and they are getting messages from the outside that they are worthless. Also, like you mentioned, homemaking is a skill and an art that has to be acquired and people expect it to be easy because it is so devalued. It's actually very hard and this is coming from a second generation homemaker and oldest of a large family. Stories like these really help those moms and all moms!

I have never regretted staying at home, in fact other than becoming an Artist I didn't really have any ambition or a high functioning brain, I also had a stable relationship and extended family. Yet I still felt the pressure from all my working friends , the pressure was not from them but from myself. We missed out on fancy cars and overseas holidays but at 51 years old I can say that I now feel blessed and content with that decision especially as my two sons have had some spectrum issues. I am very fortunate to have a very supportive spouse who has worked hard to provide for us and I appreciate that many women are incredible in all they achieve for their children in difficult circumstances. :)

Than you for recognizing that some woman must work. My daughter was a stay at home mother of six when she was unexpectedly widowed. But fortunately I am retired and I can step in as Grandma. God expects us to take care of widows. I’m grateful I can. On another note it has always bothered me that obituaries always list what people did for a living as if that was the most important thing they did. When I was young I thought that was the way too. Being a nurse, EMT and management isn’t what I want people to remember. I want to be remember for my motherhood and my grandmotherhood.

When I had to go back to work as a PICU nurse after having my daughter I would cry at the thought of leaving her. Calling daycares to price out the cost per week would leave me nauseous at the thought of someone else taking care of my baby, especially with the things I’ve seen in my unit. Daycare would have been our only option as my husband and I do not have reliable family and by no means “a village”. After working PRN night shifts on the weekends for a while we decided it made more sense for me to stay home. It’s the best choice I have ever made. I was made to be a mother, and while I do sometimes miss my career in nursing, I wouldn’t trade being home with my daughter for the world. Love your videos and your message ❤

Hi Stephanie thank you endlessly for sharing your story. It’s crazy how I’m in the exact same predicament. I went to college and then grad school, and then back to nursing school to do a 180 in my career from corporate to healthcare thinking it was a better choice for my lifestyle as a mom. 3 degrees later and a ton of debt and all I want to do is be home with my baby. I was able to keep her home for 2 years before starting her in daycare and I’m grateful that my husbands job and his effort allowed for that time but now the expectation is that I will work and offload some of his burden as the main financial provider. This is what I said I wanted and this is what we agreed was fair…..but now my heart breaks every day for my little girly when I have to drop her off at daycare for 9 hours 😢

I was very excited to hear you are Catholic. I had no idea as I've only seen one other video which was your homemade laundry detergent. I bought a lemon balm plant specifically for the ingredients and now that plant is thriving with my oregano and I have so much I finally Infuse some organic EVOO oil with it and I use it as a daily moisturizer I know my comment doesn't pertain to this video but I will be keeping your family and all women who go through your experience in my prayers knowing God will provide when you give your first and foremost to Him. God bless you.

I’m listening to this as I make my first sourdough bread 🙂 I’m a working mom and I think if my parents hadn’t offered to watch the kids ( I have 2) one already in school all day. I don’t think I could’ve gone back to work. And I do still get that mom guilt but I know they’re in gray hands. ❤ I love your videos.

Hi, Steph I really enjoyed and agreed with many things you said. I love your honestly about your past struggles. Being a stay at home mom is not gloried in the American culture but it's biblical and pleases God and that s what matters! I agree that God is in charge of a woman's fertility. God told me this personally many years ago, it wasn't easy to accept but I believed. That same day I conceived my first son who is going on 13 this October. You talked about your thyroid issues, and I can relate since I have hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia. I have to eat whole grains with my breakfast, lunch and dinner or my blood sugar will crash faster. I always have protein along with fat as well ( the fats I use are unsalted butter, rendered lard, and rendered bacon fat, and nut butters in their natural oil. ) . This combination of whole grain, protein, and fat is the only diet that has helped stabilize my blood sugar the longest. The sugars I use in moderation that don't make my blood sugar spike is organic raw cane sugar and I am not talking about sugar in the raw brand. I use raw honey unfiltered as well. If I eat refined flour my blood sugar crashes sooner. I make my own breads like you and I only use organic hard white wheat flour also called white whole wheat flour. I love this flour and I make large sandwich rolls using yeast every week, quick breads, pizza, bread sticks, biscuits, pancakes, pie, cake, etc. I can make noodles but I generally just buy organic durum whole wheat noodles. Hard white wheat is close to the same nutrition of hard red wheat flour, normally called whole wheat flour that most of us are familiar with in America. Hard white wheat is naturally lighter in color, has a texture similar to all-purpose flour, it's slightly grainy, has a hint of a nutty flavor if eaten alone. It's easier to make bread, since its not as sticky as hard red is and all-purpose flour. I generally have to add more liquid to my recipes when I stopped using organic all-purpose flour and switched to organic hard white wheat flour. I don't know if Thrive Market carries this flour but I order my flour from Bluebird Grain Farms a 25lb bag once a month. This company mills your grain fresh to order and they ship through UPS to my house. Anyways, I hope your thyroid will be stable soon, since it can cause fatigue, feeling irritated, forgetful, etc and that's not fun! Especially when you're already tired from weeks and months of waking up often at night due to changing diapers and nursing a baby.

I stayed home with my three kids until the youngest was in school, and then I got a job as an educational assistant. Twelve years later, I became a teacher. I would never trade my time home with my kids. I’m 69 years old and a retired elementary school teacher, and no one pushed me to go to college back then. Right now, I’m loving cooking from scratch, container gardening, sewing, and crafting again. And pickleball! lol! Follow your heart. I was a successful teacher, but my best memories are being a mother.

Speaking from a 62 year old woman . You are working hard doing the U-tube challenge and being successful at it is making good money. I do believe most women would love to stay home with their children if given a choice. In today’s world with inflation most women must work just to get by. You did have the land given to you this is a big savings. Please don’t demean a working Mom. Everyone must do what is best for their family and children and do a great job at it. All Mothers work very hard in raising children. You are blessed to be able to stay home.

Not once did she demean working mothers. She was one herself. The theme of her chat was for stay at home mothers struggling with it, not rubbing your nose in it. Your comment was unnecessary.

I was a teacher and I was also surprised at my drive to come home. My boss was surprised when I resigned as I loved teaching as well. It took me two years, at least, to figure out the homemaking thing. It took me time to figure out the whole getting dressed in the morning makes you more productive. I also had to go from a business casual look to a stay at home look.

I am so thankful to have found your channel. You’re a mother a decade ahead of me… and I love that I can look to you in my motherhood journey. I love listening to your wisdom. You say so many things that need to be said but aren’t. I’m so grateful I have the privilege of staying home with my baby. It’s not easy, but I would not choose the alternative for any money in the world. Thank you Steph♥️♥️♥️ I wish we could be friends in real life… However I’m far away in south Mississippi so your videos will have to do😆😊

It’s so wonderful that y’all were able to make it work! I have so many friends that want to stay at home now and their husbands just won’t agree to it. I am blessed to say, my husband and I agreed on it from the minute we started dating. Did you and your husband grow stronger in your faith through the years? My husband and I have always been christian’s, but I feel led to dive even deeper!!

Our stories are somewhat similar - but mine was pharmacy school … and I didn’t have the support at the time to be a homemaker. But I definitely felt that draw to be a homemaker and it defined the type of pharmacy roles I took. I still would have preferred to be a homemaker - but was blessed to be able to have a compromise option to work from home. I love to be able to teach the kids today that there are very viable options than being a career woman. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing, I feel a bit more connected to you now, as a cardiac physiologist, last 35 years in Cath labs, my colleagues were constantly calling in sick due to children illness and their own, which meant us peeps who can't have children/were not fortunate to have them had to pick up extra on-call shifts etc overnight which left a lot of animosity with some people, understandably, as in the UK staff are paid fully for being off sick. But without these women the NHS just would not stand as it is, if it were only men who don't want to do much of the people-related work. I admire and respect your decision, it's a full-on career and I really don't see how I could have juggled both whilst working in such a demanding role.

That first year home was so hard! Find a rhythm remember your why that’s my only advice. Also make sure you take a little time for you. It’s so fulfilling I love being home with my babies they are 5 and 2 and hopefully we’ll have another soon! It can be boring sometimes or stressful but you’re the boss take control of your life and create with your children they will love it too ❤️

I always wanted to be a stay at home mom but live in Southern California and never thought it would be possible. We adopted two boys from foster care and quickly realized when we were dropi g them off at childcare before school at 7 in the morning and not seeing them again until after work after 6 at night we weren’t getting to spend time with our children and they needed more than that on top of needing more help in school. So we saved for about a year and made some changes to our lifestyle and now I have been a stay at home mom for almost a year. I worked in my career for 20 years. It was hard to let it go and still is an adjustment but it is so worth it! My kids love it and I am getting to know them in a whole new way.

I went through a very similar realization after graduate school and having an established career. After being married for 8+ years I suddenly realized I had put everything of value on hold for a disposable career. I am now blessed to be a homemaker. Although the adjustment was not without its trials, I have never felt more fulfilled than I do as a mother and homemaker. I wish someone would have told me homemaking was an option when I was younger. Having given my 20s to a career, I am so thankful to now be living my true vocation.

Such good advice!! Nobody can raise your child…. Like the mom..My husband wanted me to be home to raise our children even though it meant tightening our belt some and learning to be frugal… I don’t miss the natural things I gave up.. but I sure would have missed all the special moments with my children!! So glad I did!!

I love the truth in this video. I am done having babies but still have children at home while working on an associates degree. I have thought and felt what you have talked about many times during this stage in my life. There has been a lot of self-reflection and debates about who am I besides just being a mom and wife. This is a real thing for every woman and I always am reminded that I’m a daughter of God and I want to live a traditional life. I am okay if I don’t have a “career” because being a wife and mother is very fulfilling and full-time, but to get to that mindset is extremely hard! Thank you for being open in your videos; it is refreshing during a time in our world where there is a lot of confusion about what is good and isn’t good. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for your story. I completely and 100% can relate.. I am 37 weeks with baby number 4. I've always felt that the only way to be accomplished as a woman was to be the "superwoman" the mother wife career woman but my marriage has had many issues we are still working through and I have an associates in culinary but food service not only doesn't pay great but it's not always family friendly hours which again causes issues. I'm at the point now where all I want is to cook healthy food for my family but now after 13 years together it's hard to convince my husband that this is a good idea between our marriage issues and putting him in the position to be the only income for a family of 6. I do not approach this from a religious standpoint necessarily but I do completely understand your outlook on being a wife and I highly respect your journey to come to that decision. It helps knowing I'm not the only one who not only feels this way but refuses to continue to feel this way.
