Already had my character sitting in front of the egg, waiting for the DLC to finish downloading. No problem...until I got in, and a naked man destroyed me with beast claws.

Not too bad. Yes mohg is supposed to be late game, but he’s so fair that you can take him out around level 90 pretty easily if you go there from varre’s quest.
If you load in and the NPC isn’t by the hand, fast travel to another grace site then back to Cocoon of the Empyrean site and she should be there to instruct you to touch the hand
Once you reach Altus plateau you can do Varre’s questline even offline to get the medallion to teleport to mohgwyn’s palace, if you want to do it as early as possible. I think the Fextralife wiki for his questline tells you where to go offline, you just gotta use 3 of the consumable finger invades or win against the great stars wielding woman. Then you can follow the quest line as normal. To make defeating Mohg easier you can either do Yura’s quest line up until Altus plateau for the crystal tear that prevents you from taking damage in the phase transition or defeat morgott and take the elevator up to the mountaintops and talk to shabriri who has taken over Yura’s body, then go back to the church in Altus plateau that’s a part of Yura’s quest line and you should be able to be invaded by the npc who drops the crystal tear. I mean you can just do the first part of varres questline until he gives you the item that teleports you to the blood underworld. All you have to do is beat Godrick, see the two fingers, use the festering bloody finger item three times, kill either the lady at the beginning of the weeping peninsula, the lady at the madness church of marika, or go back to the starting area with the 3 belfries. Once you give him the blood soaked cloth he takes your finger and talk to him again and he’ll give you the item to teleport to the audience grounds.
@@mr_jyggalag Godrick is a damn sight easier than radahn tho. What im saying is you don’t need to go through all the trouble of killing radahn AND going all the way to the consecrated snowfields (which requires several more bosses) when you could just kill Godrick, plus a short little quest and have the same result.
Ranni, i must say your mothers sister drops an amazing weapon. My favourite in the dlc so far. I loved sword of night and flame and those twin swords are the same thing but on crack.
BTW, if you’re in new game plus (I wouldn’t recommend trying this on your first journey), you don’t have to go all the way to the snowfield to get to mohg. If you complete varres quest line, you can get to mohg way earlier
You can skip needing to go to the Consecrated Snowfield and just do Varre's questline. You don't even need to be online to do this (though it is faster). If you're online, simply invade 3 people's worlds with the bloodied fingers he gives you at the Rose Church in Liurnia. You don't have to win, you just need to invade. After that, you just need to go to any of the locations that have a maiden to get blood from (the Church of Inhibition is also in Liurnia, so that's the quickest if you can handle the madness) and return to Varre once more. Then he'll give you an item that's a free teleport to just outside the temple. If you're playing offline for some reason, you'll have to go slightly further in to Altus specifically. Get to Altus Plateau any way you can, then go to the upper-right area past the windmill villages and make it to Writheblood Ruins (where you get the Bloody Hellice). In one of the ruined buildings (on the left), there's an invasion sign to take you to an NPC invader. Kill him and Varre's quest will continue (and you get a second Great Stars for your trouble if you like big bonks).
Yupp, thats what I did as I didn't wanna use my original character since that one is one NG+. Although rushing to Mogh made fighting him really hard as I was underleveled and not using a meta build.

Doing the pvp quest for Varres is much quicker than finding access to the snow fields. All in all its about 2 hours of work to access the DLC for a new Character. If you want to access the DLC with a 2 hour hold character depends very mch on your skill level though!
Technically since you beat Radahn, that should move Varre to Liurnia and you can do his sidequest for much easier access to Mohg. I'd say use the medallions to hop over to Altus, grab the crystal tear for the Mohg fight, and that should also activate Radahn.
For those that don't know how to trigger the Radahn Festival, there are two methods. The first (and easiest) is simply to travel to Altus Plateau. The second is to progress Lady Ranni's questline by entering her services, speaking to Blaidd in Siofra, speaking to Iji, then apeaking to either Jerren in Redmane Castle or Seluvis in his tower and Sellen in her basement, then speaking to Iji and Blaidd again.
Alternative to the concrcrated snowfield way you also can do Varrés Questline and get after exhausting his dialogue after finishing the quest an Item porting you directly to moghs palace

I needed this reminder after I actually did the requirements to unlock the dlc but started a new game plus. I think the fact that I was done with Radagon/Elden Beast’s shit did a number on my decision making.
There is a quicker way to access the dlc. Yes you need to beat Radahn but you can do Varre's quest to get the item that teleports you to Mohgwyn's palace.
Also, people have said to have a few different save files with varying levels for the DLC. I think one of the level groups was about 130-175, I can't remember worth a damn.
There is a npc after killing mogh you can talk to. Also there's a much quicker way to get to mogh via vare's questline but goodluck with killing mogh that early in the game
As an extra secret step I had to manually initiate the download for the DLC to access WoW Shadowlands. My PS5 wouldnt do it automatically, contrary to that surprise update patch just yesterday!
just a heads up: you can reach epstein island by killing godrick, talking to varré, going to altus plateau and invanding an npc there, then talk to varré again, go to the church with vyke's maiden, interact with her corpse, then go back to varré, after getting your balls twisted by him you'll get an item that allows you to reach mohgwyn palace without facing morgott and niall for the haligtree medallion
The Golden Order doesn't want you to know this, but Varré sells free passes to Moghwyn palace, I have 2 characters who have reached the DLC without even beating Morgott.
if you wanna get to radahn really fast head to the minor erd tree nesr the beast sanctum and jump into radahns battle field without torrent if you do it right you can choose the stake of marika and spawn near his teleport
You can also skip the snowfield part by killing godrick and then doing varre quest line to get a seal that brings you to the palace. I don't think I've ever gone to mohg via the teleporter in the snowfield lol
