The tutorial video on how to make very low mesh count screens is finally here. In this instructional video I show you how to prepare a 24 mesh count screen to coat with emulsion. During the cleaning of your screen, I noticed you used a colored scrub brush with match bucket and I also noticed that you had others scrub brushes and buckets (all different colors) at your work bench. I'm sure this helps keep chemicals separated and the brushes from being crossed commentated. So I have to ask, do you sale those brushes?

How would you wash an ink like this off the screen? Would you be able to reuse the same screen for a standard color plastisol, or only glitter cause of the particles that smears on the screen?

Actually that's a very good question and maybe we'll have to do a video on this. It's difficult to clean this low mesh count screen due to the texture created by the mesh. The glitter gets caught up in the texture. So it's simply a matter of elbow grease if you want to clean them enough to use other glitter inks on them. But you would not use this 24 mesh for anything else but glitter anyway. Depending on what you're printing and how often, it may be easier to keep more than 1 of these screens to avoid the hassle of cleanup. Thanks for watching! CatspitProductions also wondering the same with reflective inks, I print on my own from home and was working with reflective ink and the reflective particles got all over the place when printing. If you have any tips or could make a video about set up, printing and clean up with reflective inks I'd really appreciate it!

Cool video. Just wonder on how to cure the ink and do you have to set your off contact higher?

Curing is the same as any other plastisol ink except it may take a bit longer due to the plastic particles in the ink. So some extra time is usually needed. You don't really even need any off contact since the mesh openings are so huge. The mesh itself acts as the inkwell instead of emulsion over mesh as with off contact. How does the curing process both with a flash and a dryer differ from plastisol inks?

hi catspit this is out of topic on your video but i have a problem on my ink. im having an ink build up on the edge of the design. im sure its not because the platen is to hot because the ink is not hard. i can wipe it easily. im using wooden frame 120 mesh and 80 durometer. im thinking its because of the of the mesh tension or the angel of my push. can you please help me?

i'm just starting out i use water base ink i have to screens 110 and 160 i want to do gold glitter do they have it for water base ink.and i use speedball emulsion is there a better one out their for water base ink .i know i will need to get another screen to print glitter what 40 mash work you tell me

There's probably a glitter water based ink out there. The mesh for the glitter depends on the specific ink. There are many emulsions far better than Speedball. I printed Silver shimmer ink on black shirts a while back and I think I didn't properly cure the ink. Any tips or tricks that may apply for glitter/shimmer inks?

Print as thin of a layer of glitter in that you can and give them plenty of cure time in the oven. It's a matter of dialing it in really. Glitter inks can reflect infrared heat so keep that in mind. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/

Question about your exposure time ... 22 seconds ... Is your emulsion type made for fast exposures? I exposed my usually for 3.5 minutes or more (Ultraviolet light 4 - 20 W bulbs) ... yours is much bigger ... You also mentioned LED lights in the unit ... Love watching your videos! Hello there Gary. I'm very happy to know you enjoy my videos :) I use SaatiChem Textile PC Blue and it's a photopolymer. It's very fast in exposure but the LED exposure unit is also very efficient at exposing emulsion with much shorter exposure times. So depending on your exposure source and the actual UV output it has plus the emulsion you're using, your exposure time will vary. Your film positive will also affect the time.
