That is becuz the unallocated space should be just beside your C drive in Disk management, if the free unallocated space is not available just beside the drive which you want to extend, it you not give you the option to extend volume..
Note: if you see Healthy recovery partition (499 +-mb) is next to C Drive it's not work. Bxz in when creating partition windows automatically create additional 2 drive. If your c partition in second place it's won't work
There are very less videos where I decide to comment, but this video really got me! I was trying this for like 1 or 2 hours and couldn't find the solution. This video is very informative and straightforward. This video helped me a lot I would like to thank the admin of the channel.
The only point to add is that if you want to increase space in C drive then you need to divide the space in the drive which is very next to C drive. then only it will work. For Example if you have C , D , and E drive hen you can't make out space for C drive by dividing E drive, you need to target D drive
Question - If you only have C and D and now you have a new E drive - can you not simply transfer the space from the E drive to C? Rather than copying the files from D to E than transferring D to C? or does the same logic work for this scenario?
Thank you very much for helping through this bro, I actually just had 48GB in my C drive which was full and didn't allow me to do more work but thanks to you now its 152GB!!
Plz help me i have also 48 gb and its about to full and creating problems in doing my assignment. I didi the same process but there can no option of c disk , instead another e disk is created of 20 gb
I have done the same way as you showed in video. But in my disk management the deleted space is shown in green colour with name as Free space. And while i click on C drive the extend volume option is disabled . How should I allocate free space to C drive? Pls help . Thank you in advance!
IMPORTANT QUESTION! since i would need to copy about 800GB of stuff to a new drive. could i just buy a new drive, and then use that drives space to extend my C drive? because if i can, then thats what ill do, cuz i wont lie, im a bit scared to copy and then delete 800GB worth of stuff. i really hope you get back to me. thank you so much if you do.
Free up the next right drive space from c drive, then you will only be able to add the space to the cdrive. If you have one or two different drive present between cdrive and your deleted/unallocated drive, it will not be added to your cdrive. For example. You have drve - c, b, d, e, f Then you can only add space from next right drive. Here you can increase cdrive volume by taking from b drive only...... If you clear from any other drive then the next right drive then always there will be an extra drive abalable between your unallocated drive and your target drive (c), so it will end up with invalid conditions for the systems to perform your tasks. Rules are Only- C can add space taking from b B can add space taking from d D can add space taking from e E can add space taking from f
I discovered that this process is only possible when both drives are on the same disk! Disk Management as well as third party apps are useless when drives are assigned on different disks. All these videos won’t explain this. Very frustrating!

This video is very educational and straight-forward. Highly recommended for other guys who needs to increase space for their hard drives without using third party software. I've done mine just today and it works. Thank you brother.
bro my c drive is SSD so can i extend it from HDD? it does effect any think and after extending c drive i have to change again setting to no paging or not
I don't have another partition except C drive. My C drive is partitioned because I cloned my old hard drive which was smaller. To the right of C drive, I have 521MB of Recovery Partition, which I have on all my computers automatically I guess. You don't have one? Is that why you can extend C drive? How would I do that?

I did the exact same thing but I think its because of the unallocated space being only 20gb for extension into c drive, the extend button is unavailable to press. Is there any solution to that?
Unallocate the disk which is just the right side of C dirve. Suppose the nearest right side drive of C is D then you must unallocate the D drive. If you unallocate other drive then it might not work.
I have a space called "Healthy (Recovery Partition)", and an "Unallocated" space between my C and D drive. What can I do with this since the C and D drive must be next to each other to perform the steps above?
this was so helpful i was so close to sending my laptop back because of the diskspace then came across your video and managed to free up so much more space love this thanks ever so much this really helped me
Thank you so much it worked but I also find it is not working sometimes, and this is case I will use aomei partition assistant, this is a really good alternative for me.
OMG BRO! Thank you I created a much smaller partition than I thought and couldn't update any device drivers because of it! I extended my drive by 50GB so I should be good now! Thanks again!
What do you do if the c drive has "Extend Volume" gray out? I followed all the steps but when I got to the C drive to extend volume I am unable to do so as it is gray out.

PROBLEMMM HELLP hey excuse me i justr wanted to tell i followed all steps and it worked but their semme to be that the extend volume in c drive is gray plz tell if u know any fix :)
For those of you wondering if this is a legitimate way of boosting the capacity of your C Drive, this method is it. It is fast, simple, and easy and the only method that works 100% smoothly on any PC. Though the set-up of my drives was a bit different than the one displayed in the video, I did some toying around and eventually got the method explained in the video to work for me with a little flexibility. I boosted my C Drive by over 100 GBs. Shout out to the man behind this all 🙏🙏
This video is Awesome 👍🏿. I have wanted to make c drive so big. Because I am so sick of Microsoft updates, they are taking up way to much room & space, thanking you🤝🏿.

What if two different disk, one is SSD which is the boot drive the other one is HDD a storage drive installed in system unit. It is possible to increase the ssd from hdd?
Thank you soo much bro.... it is a life saver... I was updating my system to windows 11 and literally, my C drive was full and just 8 GB was free and the update was not installing... I followed this exact method and finally, I could expand my C drive.... Thanks a Ton..
Thank you for the great video. My question - Instead of extending the C drive from the E drive, can we not directly take from the newly created F drive ?
@@mychefm5019 You can only extend a volume with space that is directly to the right of itself. the position in the horizontal bar of the unallocated space does actually matter
Hey , i haven't still tried out me sacared and i am jvst a kid but i see i only have Local disk C and Reserved for system D but 0:23 in your video it says Data disk E can i do it or no
Those whose extend drive option is greyed out. You need to have unallocated space just beside the C drive in order to extend it. I was using D drive as my storage drive, so I had to move all my data from D to other drive. Once drive beside C was free I just deleted it and extended C drive :)
For some reason, my C drive is located behind my D drive. Meaning, in the disk management, the D drive is shown to the left of the C drive. Thus I can't extend the length of my C drive. Is there a way for a drive to extend backward instead of forward? I'm on an SSD if that matters.
7:46 Extend Volume Option will be highlighted only when while Installing the OS you have not created any partition ( Which happen mostly in the case of SSDs which has low space eg.256GB, 512GB etc.So nobody or company create the partition while Installing the Operating System). If you have created any partition this option will be greyed out...then you have to use any 3rd party software.....
@@AbdulHalim-tv9uj have you found an answer? i also got my c drive grey highlighted. Can you tell me what you did to extend your C drive bro? Looking forward to your response.
Thanks for this video,I could extend my C drive volume. For those who are saying that the Extend Volume is greyed out or disabled, please see that the Unallocated space is to the Immediate RIGHT side of C drive in Disk Management.
@@muhammadjan6875 delete your D drive so it will convert into unallocated space and this unallocated space will be immediately after C drive and then you can do
I have a question. What is the need of copying the file from local disc d to new drive? wy cant we directly add the empty space of new drive into local disc c?
