Everyone just turns the whole camera off everytime but that of course uses the motor to move the lens in and out so this makes a lot more sense to me

Good tip. Often, I don't use the screen at all, I attach the optical viewfinder and use zone focusing/snap focus (unless I need VERY precise framing).

Very cool! One display mode I wish they add, is OVF simulation like in the Canon EOS R3. No EVF, I know, but still: With highlight weighed metering, it can be extremely hard to compose, seeing almost nothing on screen.

been doing this forever but have missed some quick shots having to turn it on again. could you use your relationship with Ricoh and please ask them to add 10, 15 and 30 sec. options to the auto-sleep display timer?(it should only really be on on half-press) 🙏🏽

I think you over-estimate my relationship with Ricoh haha. But I can mention it. I do just keep my thumb on the button, so as I bring up the camera I just tap it. This method has never made me miss a shot. Plus, in case you're not aware, you can still shoot with the screen off. So in the worst case scenario I can just take a chance with a hip shot. :)

@@EYExplore ha, couldn’t hurt to try 🙇🏻‍♂️. it’s the easiest thing they could do to save the battery. shooting with no screen at all is good (and stealthy) practice, but it’s much harder on the IIIx than the III

@@EYExplore yeah, a couple of times, had a hope that maybe there's something I've missed. Didn't see anything regarding 'shooting info display' in the manual either.
