How to perform a factory reset of Windows Vista on an emachines or Gateway computer. This computer was sluggish and filled up with spyware, malware and viruses. I decided to give it a proper cleansing.
i did it to my windows vista pc i did everything and waited for everything to do its stuff and it did but when it restarted it said "windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause" what to i do? the status says 0xc00000e btw. its stuck there too. if i close the computer and reopen it it'll come back. and no pressing any F's dont do anything!!!
I tried this but after clicking the repair option when pressing F8 it just brought up the home screen saying sign in as a different user and not giving me the option to restore my computer. Any ideas?
I can't get recovery manager on my emachines w/ vista. I repeatedly spammed F8, but nothing but boot options. I've put recovery in the start search, but it just gives search by internet or search everywhere. I had nothing but the recycle bin on there & it said I needed to upgrade.
I do not have the repair option after hitting the F8 key.. I checked and I do have a recovery partion. What setting neeed to be changed so I can get to that option.
Hey I also have this problem. Did you ever figure it out? When I press F8 there is no "Repair" option at the top. But I am sure it is windows XP, emachines. Can you help me out?
A human cannot judge a human, so stay in your lane. Anyway, enjoyed the vid.... owned an emachine in college and got me through. Good machines if you can clean it up.
hi,my operating system is vista home premium 32 bit but when i press f8 and that boot popup or whatever comes up there is no repair your computer option in there so i cannot go any further.what should i do?
I have this same computer and everything comes up with the F8 except the repair my computer part. I've reset many computers using this and never had a problem. does anyone know why some here are having the same issue?
I don't have those options on my Toshiba Windows Vista Home Premium (that i can find). It only allows me to system restore, but no apparent options to factory reset to prepare for laptop donation. Is there another way to set laptop for donation? Thanks!
yo thank you so much man, this helped me a lot... i been tryna do this a least for 1 year but then i just left it cuz there was no video that would help me. but this video just fixed my problems.
Hey my computer when i go to choose which account i want to go on and i press enter on administrator and guest and press enter it says the account has been disabled on both and to contact the administrator. I need help

Help! When I press F8, all that comes up is a Blue box with a black background saying which boot I want. ????? After I select either of them, my computer just turns on as normal. Do I need a disk in order to make this F8 thing work or is it that I am not pressing it at the wrong time. Please help thanks.
Eric Schnidrig when You Click the Open Button, You spam The F8 Button.. and then that screen will show up. if that doesn't work, then Try all the other "F numbers" Or Esc Key.
thanks man very helpful & entertaining at the same time. getting ready to do this procedure for my fathers old gateway which is slooooooooooow, he probably deleted some files lol
i cant get pass the first part! after the f8 smashing i do get to the advanced boot options menu but the repair your computer option does not come up! help!
Was able to get it back to working! I didn't really needed to restart it, i just wanted to get it back to normal but was able to. Thanks anyway for the help and have a good one!
My com is Gateway 8yrs now never been restored back to original he move like 90 yr old man. Vista home premium. You gave me 100% idea how to restore back to original. Ty..
Thanks for the help. Fixing my husband's ancient laptop for my daughter who broke her NEW one. But your video would have been 5 minutes long without the commentary. However, I'm accused of babbling often myself.
I was optimistic to try this but during the first step, after hitting F8 there was no option to "repair your computer". All of the other options were there but there was no Repair your computer. I have an emachine here same as yours.
Hmmm that's not what I wanted to hear. I did wind up trying several other ways and nothing worked. I guess I'll have to get my hands on a disk. This is my parent's computer and it's kind of a piece of junk. Thanks for the help.
Amy Davidson Why would you go out to a nice dinner at a restaurant when you could've just eaten a cup of peanut butter? Why take the scenic route instead of the interstate? Why go visit a dear friend on their birthday when you could just post "hpy Bday" on their facebook? Life is about the journey, not just the destination!!
Wtf 😂 This dude said "data will be lost" and then started talking about he just started watching the tv show Lost. that was so random and funny I'm enjoying this video 😂👍
Dear Jennies Garage, I like your video, but i seem to be having some trouble restarting my windows vista emachines pc. I do just as you say, as you say it on the video, but then when i try to hit "Administrator", It says its been disabled! Please help! There is a password to it, but me and my mom have spent countless hours trying to figure it out, and have had no luck. It was my grandma's, and she passed away about 2 yrs ago. I like the pc and wanna use it, but as i said, that one problem is preventing me from doing so. Please respond soon! Thanks, Sincerely, Britanie
I don't know how to help that, except maybe format the HD and install a fresh copy of windows. Are you going through the steps exactly like I do in the video? I didn't know the password for the computer I was working on, and it worked. Good luck.
Mike Jameson no it'll come on but won't go to the account chooser page before getting into the actual window to get on the internet or anything just the start normally or restore options things and ive tried restoring it it takes forever then restart and goes back to the same menu page with the countdown thing again I let it countdown to start on its own but it doesn't I'm not sure what else to do.
if it still doesn't work.. then Do a Force Shutdown (Holding the Power key while open, Untill it Closes), and Open again Spamming the ALT + F10. And press F8 after it Showing up. then Go down to "Recover to last known Good Condision". after a 5 min or lower Load, it should give a Screen where you can Click "Factory Recover". Click it, and Click OK. and Just wait for the Long Load....
Same for mine! But I figured out that if you put advanced settings at the bottom left it will take you to another menu then pick the last bullet and press next and restore without backup!
The trash furnace is still in development, I've got a squirrel cage fan that I'm going to modify to use in place of the leaf blower. As for the car I still like it but I've really had the itch lately to get something more sporty. Tough to do with a toddler though :)
when my daughter was born< I had a 1974 240 Z 2 seater hatch back. I had to weld in a bracket right behind in the middle of the seats so I could snap in a car seat and be able to take it out. I drove it like that for 3 years. I had alot of New dads stop me to see how I had it set up. I eventually sold it and got a 4 door car...man I really miss that little sports car.
I watched the whole video even though I only needed to find what function key to hit lol. I'd like to get stoned and talk to this guy. He isn't an unresponsive sheep like you folks.
As for Lost, I watched it on network TV during it's initial run. Lost was simultaneously both sone of the best snd worst TV episodes I've ever seen. It stole six years of my life. F Lost.
