@@AdrinTheBarber Do you lift the clippers a little when going over thin spots? Ive heard of some barbers doing that but, it seems you just run the clippers flat or as you say, "flush." I'm trying to learn. I look forward to any response. Thanks.

AD, I love using a detachable clipper and as someone now getting back into the profession I want to say THANK YOU! I have been shadowing many great barbers locally and I noticed their process includes heavy use of detachable clippers (76, 111 turbo, Model 10, BGRC). Your video complements the process they use and breaks down the steps in a superb manner. I truly look forward to more of your videos. I feel now I have a youtube channel I can follow for a complete professional approach to cutting.

regarding your comment about holding the blade flush to the scalp vs angling it. Does that also apply to the longer blades? (such as the 3-3/4) I have actually seen some books that specifically state to ANGLE the longer tooth blades (i.e. NOT hold them flush to the scalp) so I just wanted your take on this question.

So clean bro one question so i could get this haircut down, how did u blend from 00000 with skipping 0000 before the 000 ?? Did u go straight up at 000?
@TheWetShavingBarber
@TheWetShavingBarber 7 лет назад
Skipping from 00000 to 000 does work. I too had this question and being a former engineer I could not see how skipping would add up...but as I have used the process even more I understand why. Using 000 instead of 0000 gives you a nice blend going from 00000 but it also sets up the next step even better (going to the 0A)

@7301skyline

NO , if your using a detachable blade because unlike the andis master that has the lever on the side, a detachable clipper does not have a lever for you to access the halfs. In order to fade with a detachable clipper you would have to get some more blades. 0a, 1, 1a 1 1/2, etc

@TheWetShavingBarber
@TheWetShavingBarber 7 лет назад
For the most part this should not happen. As my barber mentor once told me in the past "If your clippers heat up, you are cutting to long with them at one time". Otherwise you should order "Ceramic" versions of the blades you need. I admit they run much cooler and no complaints from clients about heat either.

Hey bro would you recommend to just use detachables in place of like seniors or masters
@TheWetShavingBarber
@TheWetShavingBarber 8 лет назад
I have been shadowing a few of the top barbers in my area to enhance my skills and they all say "time is money" for sure in this field. So using a detachable that speeds up your process is a great move. However, they emphasize the need to incorporate adjustable clippers to clean up fades. I use the Andis Master and Fade Master for final blending clean ups.
@miguelestrada207

+TheExpatStylist oh okay thank you great advice! 👍🏼
@DMVRUDENESS
@DMVRUDENESS 7 лет назад
Miguel Estrada it all depends on the hair... I use bgrc and 5 star seniors for fading and cutting hair.. Andis master are really meant to be used for clean up. The fad masters or just the fade master blade is meant for fading as well... as the seniors and fade masters use a surgical blade that can be zero gapped to cut like a 000000 which can help you get lines out as well. Detachables cut hair off faster wet or dry not every clipper can do that so easily. It all depends on how you cut and the type of hair you are cutting all hair doesn't take well to detachables just like all hair doesn't take well to seniors or masters. Also with the masters it also depends on the type of guards you buy the single magnetic purple guards cut totally different then the double magnetic purple guards and both of those purple guards cut differently then the wahl guards for the seniors.

Dont the blades get warm after a long period of time? wouldn't it be better to use the plastic guards cause its much more gentle on the skin?
@thesuccessfulbarber
@thesuccessfulbarber 7 лет назад
Mark shane Coetzee the detachable blade clippers are rotary motors and much more powerful than magnetic motor clippers therefore dont get as hot. also these blade sizes are basically the sizes of a magnetic clipper with no guard. when you close a clipper fade knob its a 000 and when its open its a 1
@gerardocordero1666
@gerardocordero1666 7 лет назад
Mark shane Coetzee with a light touch, detachable blades are just as smooth as plastic guards but blades give a better cut, as for the blades the thinner/smaller the blade the quicker it heats up. 00000 will probably be hot after 8 min but a metal 2 might not ever get warm to the touch

no its not.... actually is more difficult this way because you have to know exactly how far to go up as not to create a huge gap between lines......by your way, it males it so that you can't make another line as you go down......me personally, I prefer working my way up....it just makes sense

No it's not wrong. I used to go from large to small, but now I go from smallest guard to the largest. This technique is slightly more difficult because you have to know exactly how high up you want to go and where to blend . But both ways are correct , just different approaches to fading/ blending.
@WigManPhil

@@cursed_raven_ it two different ways of skinnin a cat. I usd to fade down but recently saitched to detachables after a break of cutting hair.. for me, the way my mind works (OCD) fading up (or really a combination) i see bettwr where ive been and where im going , and i feel its more controlled and organized for the way my mind works. +Forw1072 Detachable are great, cut very smooth and precise. I guess the biggest problem is that a lot of the detachable clippers are bulky and loud so its all about finding one that works great for you

Can't you just use different guard lengths?

Can't he just change out the plastic guards rather than the metal clippers?

Are you asking if one could use plastic guards on a detachable blade system, if so then your answer is yes but... You would still need to use the #000 blade then interchange the appropriate plastic guards needed during your cut. NOTE: not all plastic guards will work in the manner. I think the purple magnetic Andis guards will. But you won't get the same precise cut that you do when using only the appropriate metal blade. Once you begin using a detachable for your cuts you won't want to go back...I sold many of my adjustable clippers once I perfected the detachable process. I even visit a local master barber I know who only uses detachable clippers for his cuts and his work is truly blessed!

It is easy to cut your own head when you are bald. It is in the barbers best interest to keep the customer coming back as long as possible.
