INSANE! Seriously INSANE. This is so easy and the outcome is so good. Combining focus pull and scaling it in post if one of the best tricks I’ve seen till date.
Daniel, do I need to turn off the stabilization in Sony's camera when shooting a bi-roll with my hands? I get jelly when I stabilize the b-roll in fcpx. Or is it not necessary ? Best Regards, Anton from Moscow. Thx
It would have been way easier if you just painted the wood picks with some cyan blue acrylic ink. That's what we would do. Just 20 or 30 seconds to paint it and no need for manual masking adjustments. Also, it would be better to film the tomato closer, to take advantage of the biggest resolution possible. Besides that, great video and awesome tips! Cheers :)
I agree with the last part. But one of the biggest things in all his videos is budget. Masking is free and won’t take more than a couple minutes. Buying paint is not. But if you do have then that’s a good idea
@@FilmVisionSTU Well, we would agree with you if he was talking about using a cheap smartphone and any improvised colored wall to do the job, of course, but it's not the case. A Cyan Acrylic Ink Tube (or green, if using green background) would cost you like 2/3$ (if that much) in any utilities store, and could be used for other filming opportunities as well. In this particular case it would take you just some minutes to mask, since a tomato is circular and the clip is short, but in other scenarios could take an hour or two, depending on the shape of the object and final duration of the video, so we guess it's still a good suggestion for anyone willing to spend that little money (Starbucks costs you double and serves earthy flavoured coffee, this would be worthier 😂)
@6:01 - FCP keyboard shortcut nugget: instead of blading your clip then deleting the unwanted portion, highlight your clip and place the playhead where you want your clip to end. Then press option + ] and it will simply remove everything behind the playhead in the clip. Likewise, pressing option + [ will remove everything in front of the playhead in the clip. #timesaver
A tip on the zooming of the tomato to make it more real, is to have the zoom ramp un instead of it being smooth, when objects fall they start falling at a relative low speed and then slowly gain speed,.
This is a great technique. When it comes to 3D objects, I've always opted for filming them instead of creating them from the ground up. I have an entire asset library I've created over the years featuring all kinds of products... Everything from foods to toys, jars, etc. Great video Daniel on showing the masses how to incorporate this technique into their videos! 🤙🤙
What an awesome and handy technique! I think the rotation made it look a bit weird but that might have been due to the fact the center point wasn't exactly in the middle of the tomate which made it rotate in a strange way but otherwise this looked really convincing. Thanks for sharing this Daniel!
Because Canada was brought up properly being a common wealth country, America is like a family member no one wants! But there still family member so you gotta love em! Also no hate to the Americans but that blew my mind what a tutorial
Woah that glass lighting. I've seen things like that done before, but it dawned on me this time: it's giving the light texture. Never thought I'd say light has texture, but that's exactly what you're doing. That's actually such a huge tool in your arsenal if you're dealing with boring objects.
Apart from all the buddies commenting, this really isn't a Fake super Slo Mo, everything is already so. Trying to slow mo pouring liquid would have been good...
I mean this is a cool effect and all... But you can grab a DJI pocket 2 cheaper than that edelkrone which has 240fps slow mo and that should give you enough motion vectors to twixtor it up to 1000fps even without really introducing artefacts. Its not too hard to get good slow motion for cheap these days.
Your pronunciation is what I learned at school. And American way has confused me a lot. But oh well when you are at Rome........I am learning a lot from you
(---_____---) I think most of (if not everywhere in) the world except the USA pronounces it as ZED. *~~le sigh!!~~* The U.S. is just refusing to catch up, pronto! lol
Love it. Probably should have mentioned frame rates though if you're going to be slowing down a clip. Film your tomato in 60fps or higher so you can slow the clip down without it becoming choppy. I cannot believe how good the end result looks.
Love your content, always teaching new things... And yes the rest of the world pronounces Z as Zed except America otherwise names like Jay Z would should very weird.😂
I didnt know Canadian also used coloUr and favoUrite.. Aussies & poms do too.. Seems it's just the yanks that don't.. Also seems it's just them that don't use Metric system too :)
Thank you so much! Which editing software is this? I've been using Vegas my whole life for casual editing and I want to step it up. Any recommendations? Adobe premiere seems like the most reasonable next step
Interesting...but with just a few of those type of shots and the man hours invested, you could be shooting with a genuine high-speed camera. The lower end HD models used for this type of work are actually not a terrible price.
insane indeed. But bro: you did all this work to make it seem photorealistic, and you completely ruined the physics of the falling tomato.... Just by looking at half a rotation of it falling, I am able to tell it is completely fake.
why did u shoot 125 shutter ?i assume u shot 60fps. but why 60 when 24-25 would be the same since the slow mo is fake..and in that way it would match the rest of the shots if that was just the intro of a commercial lets say. are the 60fps smoother when rotating or fast speeding?
Bruh I've been watching your vids from 2019 and it's like everytime i watch a new one. You have a new technique or insane idea i i just wish to work with you/ for you even if it's 2 weeks
