It’s crazy. I just practiced this nonstop for about two hours while I was watching a movie and by the time it was over I could do it. I can’t explain it. Cards are cool and weird man. The more you hold them and touch them the more they start to do things for you. Strange and magical little pieces of paper.

VirtualWoodshed this is such a weird paragraph. Part of me wants to say “what the heck, yes that’s how practicing anything works, no duh” but since I’ve actually been practicing cardistry I understand what you mean. It’s like, your fingers are used to moving a certain way and because the cards don’t change too much your hands just learn how to move with the cards. It’s so obvious from a scientific point of view but when it’s actually happening to you it’s an amazing thing that words can’t capture entirely.

Hey Chris and team ellusionists. I watched Chris video about some match magic tricks and there you asked, whether we have subscribed to the ellusionists channel. I thought I had not but then I noticed that I am all ready a subscriber for about a Year. That's probably because I needed to rest my magic training for the stressful college time. But now I want to get more into it and just want to say thank you for the opportunity team ellusionists give me and help me to improve my skills. So thanks a lot and have a nice day. :)

@ellusionist
@ellusionist 5 лет назад
You can create more space for the cards by starting with curled fingers and extending them as you spread the fan, and also you can adjust the pressure of the fanning to create a tighter fan (so less of each card is showing) and that will give more room for the final cards.

I'm having a lot of trouble because I'm a grown 26 year old woman with very very tiny almost kid-like hands & I realized that I can't hold the deck in the exact same position as you do but if I make some slight adjustments & kind of invent a modified version for myself I think I actually may be able to get it with more practice. I've seen plenty of women magicians but I've personally never seen a woman who is a master of cards although I'm sure there are some great ones that exist out there somewhere but I also gotta remember that there are children with smaller hands than me that are way more talented than most adults at this stuff so I know it's not impossible for me to essentially figure it out.

Would air cushioned cards work the best? I seemed to get it after a few tries by using an Aristocrat deck made by the United States Playing Card Co. with either a Nevada or Air Cushion finish. It's the type of deck sold to casinos and I found mine at the local Dollar Tree.

The flat/glossy kind are not good. Anything vaguely-air cushion like (meaning with the texture) will work fine.
