I don't have locs but I recently watched TheChicNatural's tutorial and she used the crochet method. It came out amazing and looked easier than this method you're using.
+Asia C lol of course it's easier because it's crochet..it's premade vs doing it on your real hair. plus that method slips easier and doesn't last as long
That's pretty cool. I allllways do double ended braids and dreads. I like the lighter idea but also you can use a flat iron with a spray bottle of water and a dishtowl and steam them so they don't actually burn. They just melt to whatever shape you desire. Or another awesome and easy way is to spin them in boiling water as fast as you can for the twisted dread look. That's the quickest if it's done correctly.
I've mixed a few methods and perfected mine. I start with a braid to a twist. Then, I crochet the faux hair through the base of the braid, making sure the piece is the length i want. Next, I start twisting the braiding hair as you do (tightly) going down the length of the hair. When I get to the bottom I start twisting the excess back up and finish of by sealing with a flat iron rather than burning.

I've actually done the method when you buy the pre-made locks and basically just single braid your entire head. then crochet the loc on the the base of the braid, put my natural hair inside the faux loc and only wrap the root to keep the loc more secure. was faster for me and a lot lighter without the extra hair. but I loved your video, got me wanting to do a lighter color next time. 💕

Whenever I apply heat on my curly hair I first make sure the night before that I do a deep conditioning treatment to it over night then I comb out my hair gently and I spritz a heat protecting product onto the ends mostly, but also a little bit the the rest of it smooth it throughout for even coverage. After this I comb my hair through again to make sure its all through my hair. After that I blow dry it down with a round brush and then straighten it. It has really made a difference in how my hair looks after its been straightened myself and I still end up with my beautiful bouncy curls when I wash it and condition it again because moisture is EVERYTHING when it comes to curly hair lol.
Although carols daughter doesn't agree with my hair, when I tried it, I nearly died of nosegasm. The almond milk line smells LOVELY. Loved this video btw.

im going to eventually attempt to do faux locs on myself but beautycanbraid has the best tutorials on braiding period.. she has different methods including crochet individual goddess locs over senegalese twist (#190) & crochet individual faux locs (#226)..
I only use shea moisture products in my hair. I use the same collection most of the time so I won't mess up my hair cycle. I only try to benefit my hair. I also enjoyed this video!❤️❤️😜
Was so excited when tying this style using your method and the featured products but had the worst time getting them to stay in! My natural hair is pretty long and very healthy and didn't want to burn too far up the hair and ruin my own. Will continue to watch your tutorials but will just use different styles. LOVED the carols daughter almond milk collection however! Thank you for your help and videos!

I have locs now that I paid someone to do. I be like... I know I can keep this style up myself... this is the first video that I have seen that really allowed me to see & understand how I need to do the wrapping. Maybe it was the fact that the hair was lighter so I could really see it better but either way kudos to you for this tutorial because I will play it like an old school mixtape to save my coins!!
I use ecco olive styling gel and indian herp grow to moisture my hand i use detanigler olive oil spray and its a life saver didnt realize my hair was damaged from using white people products i am mix ..so its hard to blend inn but after knowing about were my ancestors are from.i understand my hair and i love it. 😊
I saw a video where the lady used twists as her foundation instead of braids. I'm going to try that today. She said it only took her 4 hours. Then she doesn't wrap the braid with the end part of the braiding hair. She does two strands as if she were going to braid, and alternates using the longer piece first, then the shorter side. I saved the video, but this is my daughter's account. I'll try and find you when I get on my account so I can give you the name.
Just a suggestion sweety. Your hair can only absorb so much liquid, so you don't put conditioner on soaking wet hair. You are supposed to squeeze most of the water out of it, then rinse with cool water so it seals the cuticles and holds in the conditioner. Warm water opens, cool water seals and closes
Never explored into braiding hair for the fear of not learning how do it correctly/ damaging my hair somehow but I should give it a shot. I want to try a blond color, but there's so many tones and levels that I'm not sure which one would flatter me till I actually do it
Being white and having curly hair and wanting to try locks is a constant battle I face😂🤷🏼♀️ I absolutely LOVE the way they look, I love how women of colour wear them and understand why they wear them, I have empathy towards the struggles women of colour go through with their natural hair, I just think they're absolutely stunning
Sometimes I braid it all the way and sometimes I don't. It depends on what kind of hair Im using to wrap it. If it is Marley hair then that hair grips well enough on its own. If I use braiding hair to wrap then I do braid to the ends...... Your hair looks nice.
