How to feed baby guinea pigs milk !!!

Mother of these beautiful guinea pigs passed away a week after birth, while they were still breast feeding. I tried just giving them normal food and veggies but they wouldn't touch it. Soo I improvised and started feeding them cows milk for that week. YES !!! COWS MILK!!! I already knew that this was fattening and bad for them but them not eating or drinking water was worse. I only did it for a week through a eye dropper make sure for it not to be glass. After that week they started to eat veggies and water. I had them for another 2 healthy long living years before I moved to back to the U.S. and gave them to a loving family of another 4 guinea pigs of there own so they had a total of 7 now lol that's a lot of pigs. I last contacted the family about a year ago and they are still healthy and living. ALSO REALIZE I WAS LIKE 12 YEARS OLD WHEN I MADE THIS VIDEO :p
About 8 months ago I bought another 2 guinea pigs named Spike (my sisters) and Billy (mine) that were newly born about a 3 weeks old. IF I REACH 200 SUBSCRIBERS I WILL POST A VIDEO OF THEM !!!

Same thing happened to us and we were up every 3 hours through the night feeding them the same way, but using milk for kittens. We now have 3 very healthy young adult make guinea pigs. I don't know how your lil' ones are doing, but from our experience the babies are very capable of growing into healthy and happy adults if you give them the love and attention they need.

That is so cute! I did the same for a baby guinea pig I had and have now! He grows very well, with milk and water mixed, for three weeks and now he is a big two years old! ;D

This is a sad story- I’m 15 years old and my Guineapig Blossom had two babies one she sat on top of and killed it and the other one rosey she is fine I am feeding her and cuddling with her when I’m at school I leave a tiny bowl of milk and my stuff animal Gunieapig that I got a dollar tree so that she could have some company it’s been 5 days now and she is still doing good her mom sadly passed away do to a sickness we went to the vet but the medicine they gave her didn’t work and she passed away so I am doing everything I can to keep Rosey feed and happy💕

Have to say, they are a delicacy in some countries. Just because their diet is different does not mean it is wrong. These people raise them for food , the same way we raise pigs, cow, chickens and lambs for food. Not wrong just different.

a bit of advice, after feeding and just before going to sleep, get yourself a bowl of warm luke warm water dip , your fingers in then gently rub the babies tummies this stimulates them , just like ther mother does , washing them so they can do a poo.. lovely babies u have there ..make sure they dont go to bed damp n wet this can give them a chill..

I had three guinea pigs. Two girls and one boy. I had them for six years. they all passed away one after the other in march of 2012. I miss them so much :( Adorable babies though, I hope they are okay :)

I'm sure it would in part depend on the guinea pig in question. If it didn't drink water then milk is far better than dehydration! Be cautious at first, I would say, but as long as their poos look normal, they are behaving with usual vitality, breathing normally, no runny nose, bright eyes, then I wouldn't think there was a problem. But certainly I would use goat or soy milk rather than cow's milk, and possibly add some of a crushed lactase tablet in for extra safety.

Some are lactose intolerant but baby mammals produce lactase (the enzyme that breaks down lactose) naturally when they are below weaning age. Goat's milk tends to be better for small mammals.

They're also mammals, and therefore will drink milk when they are babies. However, I would hope this is goat's milk as most small mammals, including rabbits, mice and rats, find this far easier to digest than cow's milk.

they will drink alot more then usually less running around not eating um you can try and feel underneath her to try and feel and piggies and kicking around and then you would usually have to wait 6 to 9 weeks so i hope this will help you and do no hold her and keep her in a quite room and don't touch her or let any one else touch her i have 14 guinea pigs and i breed them

First of all there is a difference between a feeder pig and a pet pig, although there will always be two sides to the story. The ones that are eaten in their native country are treated fairly until consumption. While it's hard to think of both sides, there are reasons to both. Neither of these people are right to say what is right and wrong, because its all opinion and culture. If you choose to feed a pig to a snake, so be it, it's your decision, same as raising one for love.

I had to feed my baby guinea pigs, because the mother died at birth. We gave the 2 coffeemilk, 1 of them we had for a really long time. She died at 7. Always in my heart.

If it was evaporated milk, judging by the mix-up between SSPCA advice and how we were actually feeding them when I adopted five newborn field mice, I hope it isn't! Evaporated works well with paintbrushes, but with droppers/penfillers similar to this it's much too rich. My five mouse babies paid the price for the SSPCA assuming we were using a paint brush when we were actually using a pen filler. They did fine on watered down milk (all we had at the time) but died immediately on evaporated.

I just got two four week old brothers for my tiny daughter as she wanted a pet so badly she took a lump of dry moss inside in a box because it looked like a baby possum ... So I got her the 'Teddy' breed - they look just like little brown teddy bears - or baby possums - she named them 'Possum' and 'Squirrel' =)

You don't want to breed your pigs. There are enough in the shelters as it is. Please don' produce more guineas when you could just adopt to fill up the space that you want to fill. EACH GUINEA will need about 4-5 square foot of space and you'll need to take time out each day to hold and love every one of them. You can't just get bored with them and expect that to be okay. Plus, giving birth could kill the mother.

Yie~~~ guinea pigs aren't stupid, stupid. In fact they are intelligent. You haven't seen the other videos of these adorable creatures doing tricks, fetching balls and other stuff, and more. They are such sweet fluff balls that need love and attention, not to feed them and care for them that well just to cook them and fry them up! Such animal cruelty! If shipping pets is already "that" bad, how much more frying them up?! Get a life, kid!

Guys I don't have the guinea pigs any more they were all very healthy when I gave them Away to a pet store.I moved from Greece to America so had to.I miss them but don't want to hear u guys telling me what I should do! ***** trusting on people's melonheart.I like to expect good things instead of bad things.But i prefer to taking care of that innocent creature than killing it (like on South America ,they eat guinea pigs) sorry.You won't change my mind. anyways,i know about the adoption centers but people who buy an animal and get bored of it is an irresponsible one,people who only sees animals like objects or toys.Another thing is due to cincurstances you have no option.Irresponsible ones shouldn't have pets or childreen.And using the law,you are innocent until the probes come out,so let's give him/her a chance...he/she hasn't left the guinea pig yet

I know you had good intentions, but you shouldn't feed them with an eyedropper at all. In their eagerness the milk can go straight to their lungs and pneumonia can set in. You should also put them with another sew, who will teach them how to eat solids and keep them warm.

I agree though you can't talk if you still eat meat. I mean think about other animals as innocent as these. Kept in gestation crates and slaughtered cruelly just to save a few dollars. ALL animals are innocent and don't deserve to be treated as just items that you can throw away if you get bored or buy cause its pretty and throw on the street when it gets older and rusts a bit.

The babies are adorable, and I'm sorry you lost their mom. However, guinea pigs should NEVER be given any dairy or meat products. They are strict herbivores. If you ever find a need to handfeed a guinea pig, be it pup or adult, they should be fed Oxbow Critical Care. That said, how are the babies doing?

guinea pigs take such a long time to raise in comparison to other animals - and have less babies per litter. Is it not more sensible to breed rabbits for snake food which breed much quicker?
