I'm glad you mentioned alternative sources of protein because eating a couple of meat items per week is not enough. This also provides good ideas for college students who don't want to eat just cup of noodles every day.
I love this video. I'm a bodybuilder who eats clean as much as possible, and I eat all of these foods religiously. If the average American ate only the foods listed in this video, our disease and obesity rates would plummet, and we would have a lot more money to spend on more productive things. The only think I would add is that frozen fish and whey isolate are awesome sources of protein and not very expensive.
A lot of people are starting to grow their own food to help offset what they would normally spend at the store. It's important to eat healthy nutritious foods so its good not too buy cheap empty calorie type foods just for the sake of saving money,
Hahaha! Im looking at an ad at the top right corner advertising taco bell's shrimp tacos. It says "Warning to customers with shrimp allergies: Shrimp products contain shrimp. LOL
@Lee2k4 Fresh vegatables are usually shipped (many unripe) across the country, and they start to lose some of their nutrients as soon as their picked. Frozen are usually processed very soon after their picked, so they retain more of their nutritional value.
@ExemplaryRadiation I heard wheat bread and white bread has the same nutrients. Though brown rice at least has different sugars than white. oh and before someone calls me naive or ignorant, wheat bread is different than whole grain or 7grain.
Limit red meats to 1 time per week. Buy frozen chicken breasts and bake them for the week. Brown rice and spinach with chicken is one of my favorites. I'm surprised eggs were not pushed. Cheap source of protein. Pay a bit more and get cottage cheese, good casein protein. Assorted nuts are not cheap, generally are salted and will cause you to retain water.
Healthy cheap food: ramen with all the noodles, half the seasoning, steamed veg and veggie meat=mmmmmmmm so yummy. Don't know if its ACTUALLY healthy but I LIKE IT!!!
@funnystarchild It is very high in protein and has healthy natural fats, but most brands(like Skippy) are chock full of fillers and preservatives, so it would depend on where you get it.
Peanut butter is a paste made from peanuts, not a kind of butter. the only ingredients it needs to have are peanuts, oil and salt. You can check the brands that have the least calories.
@RenGrayson lol thanks for telling me the name of that thing, which according to some dictionary is "similar to a walnut". I do remember tasting something bitter in a different way once at this specialized shop, but it looked like walnut.
I agree, the fats contained in peanut butter are actually much better for you than those in butter and sweets. In fact, humans require moderate amounts of the very fats peanut butter contains to stay healthy, Also, canned veggies are basically the same as fresh veggies nutritionally, the only difference is that they must be rinsed off before consumption. Besides, canned milk is really just milk, it just may taste a little different. due to the canning process
That's why I think it's "healthier" to eat fresh one.Peanut butter is butter(i know, not of animal origin)and it's fat anyway.Where I live canned milk and frozen food aren't cheaper than the fresh ones because they go under more steps before arriving to the stores(the cheapest foods here are in the street markets!),and fresh milk productors are very carefully controlled by the government during the procedures needed to make milk fit to be drunk. You won't find harmful microorganisms in it. ;)
I didn't mean to be unpolite, my "you americans" was in fact ironic and not sarcastic, so i really don't want to argue. Maybe you are more informed than me. I knew that when you freeze food, the water inside the food becomes ice (obviously) and increase its volume thus breaking some fibres inside the structures of the food itself. When you heat the frozen food to eat it the ice melts and with the water flows away also al lot of the good elements contained in the food. (sorry for my english!)
You should only be eating about 16oz of beef a week, beef breaks down strangly in your stomach and rots inside of you instead of breaking down proporly. Chicken is probably the most healthy meat for you, pork in moderation as well. You can get the same nutrition from salads on a daily basis as eating meat. Making or buying Hummas is also a much healthier alternative to eating meat, add some Extra Virgin olive oil and some veggie sticks and you are on your way to a healty snack or meal.
Contrary to what a lot of people think - it does not have to cost a lot to eat healthy. The AbStand has been helpful for many people to achieve abs without having to get on the ground. This is very helpful to anyone with back or neck pain. Hope you'll check us out!
Actually healthy food: brown rice, quinoa, kale, beets, spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, grass fed organic LOCAL meats (avoid red meat), beans, organic local eggs, gluten free foods, no refined sugars or processed starches, micro biotics first thing in the morning (a.k.a. vegetables FRESH, not frozen) FRESH vegetables are more healthy than canned and frozen.
Sometimes I get so sad when I see homeless ppl and always gives them 10 or 20 bucks because my family makes a bit more then the average person and we have so much 😞
I know cheese is a bit pricey but just a little dairy can really spark a meal and still keep it cheap. Tacos made with your own dried beans, spiced up, add a little lettuce and tomato and just a bit of cheese is a cheap, good meal. Without cheese it looks and taste too bland. I think it physiological. It doesn't take much to make you fill like you are not being cheated.
Hi Mohammed, You need help eating healthy? By your screename, is not Middle Eastern food healthy? I like the swharmas and falafel. Toubuleh and yougurt drinks are good too :D
@actsingdanceochsa Nope. In fact I eat alot of meat, tuna. chicken, pork, etc. Although at one point when I started out my new life style of gaining weight and losing fat, I almost became a vegitarian. Now I eat constantly as I am almost boarder line body builder, but I still manage to eat tastey meals unlike most body builders who are nutrition nazi's.
you know something, ALL milk, (canned, & fresh) is heated before they sell it, and you won't find any microorganisms in fresh milk, plus it tastes better than canned milk...
They laughed when I told them I was going to burn calories with Trim Fat Maximizer, but then they saw the results. Go and google Trim Fat Maximizer to see their reaction.
