Saw some rexes struggling to fight shants so I decided to make this tutorial for anyone who has a hard time countering this kind of playstyle, hope it helps!
Altough the shant is very bad. Your telling the right tactic to counter. Stomps are very easy to miss and a shant should use stomps to fake stop to get entrance. But anyway the shant basically didn’t angle or adjust right. And like trike shant does not aim with hitbox and is higher to the ground which means you don’t have to aim up, is useless. But many are unaware that shant is f up. A shant runs to the left side of the rex to snipe the rex when rex turns left having tail always close to the mouth of rex which is always a risk but done correctly at the right spot shant can ride a rex that counter turn and wait for the counters and re-adjust easier maintaining the right angle and distance , i used to be a main shant and destroying rexes and learned rex tactics such us counter turning to fake, counter turning to misposition shant and counter turning followed by a straight burst of sprint to make the shant go to the opposite side and immediately pre counter it as you know shant will go there. Ofc many shant have no idea how to position even myself I haven’t learned it perfectly but i know because i have done it a shant secret to ride a rex is to be patient take right distance snipe left and maintain the angle and with experience and practice shant easily can predict what a rex will do. Never spam hit, is like a utah riding a rex, if you spam hit you will never hit the target hit only when needed, precise and calculated hits. Shant too close to the rex can clash hitboxes with the rex chest lool. So i fought very good top tier rexes and i was a very illusive shant. Rexes counter that by aiming at shant tail not the head, so when shant takes left and right with amazing turn speed while sprinting rex will aim at tail as if shant turns the tail follows the centre. But smart shant does not turn left and keeps turning, you turn left then right and viceversa to get tail out. Stomp only if rex charges at you and bites and if he gets close you turn around them very easily. Shant is broken like trike but has decent stats and that helps it. I believe a god rex a whatever you wanna call rex, it only can hit a god shant at the start, with 1 hit, some can land 2 but either way a shant that dodges the hits and gets behind or does not get legbreak, once behind shiuld never be outridden. I know this from experience as one of few people who actually practiced shant for a while. Is very hard ride that requires some practice and learning but once mastered the only effective counter a rex can do once shant is behind is to use ambush take some hits make shant waste stam and try to basically use ambush to get away which is very hard for a rex to do as shantat early can keep up with rex and can fake stomp making rex lose ambush and get hit at least 4 times while trying to gain it back. I never saw a main shant that’s actually good, i myself am out of knowledge but i have never committed to fully learn it, but i am aware of what it can do. Shants ae monsters, but then again shant has all problems trike has. Except no bad stats in terms of turn radius speed no delay while sprinting etc... If shant hitbox was mobile and fixed shants could do crazy snipes from crazy angles rexes would stand no chanceit would look like now with shants pointing up head. But cause is broken you don’t have to point up as hitbox is not going higher lower or in any direction. Also rex does not have to crouch to ride a shant, is just a myth. You have to simply stay behind the head and bite down. Standing is the same thing, don’t believe me? Go try it
Idk about the tail thing, I try to hit shants tail but it doesn't really register much so it doesn't seem overly reliable imo, and I mean in terms of riding its super hard to shake a very good shant but to my knowledge counter turning and aiming for the face seems to work best because again if the shant is riding good the likely hood of you hitting the shants tail is immensely low but that's my opinion.
The ambushing thing does also work have seen rexes do that and I have tested the crouching thing, if you are to far up and you are standing you will be hit, but if you crouch you wont be hit since the hitbox slides back
I mean toma currently is the rank 1 shant and I still roll him, he fights all of LS and other skilled rexes so all I have to say is fight him and see I guess lol, he is much better now than in this video but most of the tactics in this video still apply with a few differences
