Hiya Jesse. I found a product you might be interested in for this very purpose. An art supply called Moulding Paste. I used it for a wall mural project with 3d chameleons. The stuff is hard one tried, no strong smells, sandable and sculptable once dried.
@stevenandrews6783
@stevenandrews6783 6 лет назад
This stuff is great for small/light gaps or filling in the layer lines. It doesn't necessary bond parts though. A couple of things that work really well for me. 1.) I've found it sticks much better to a primer coat. if you apply it directly to a fresh or un-coated print, it has a tenancy to pop off here and there. 2.) This stuff is water soluble. you can scoop out a bit of it into another container and thin it to your liking (a little water goes a long way). You can then use a brush to apply it faster over larger areas some what evenly. Applying it right out of its bin with your finger works, but sometimes feels clunky.

So I never use the bond or the wood fillers before and I was at Home Depot trying to figure out what to get and I couldn't remember. So I flipped up your video here. Watching a video you start talking about the Bondo so I grabbed the Bondo in the harder they like but I don't use that anymore LOL so then you go with the bond One Touch whatever it was I go to grab that and you like but my favorite thing LOL. I guess I should just skip to the end to see what was the best. I just found it amusing as I was at Home Depot with one of the employees looking for all the stuff and we are having to go back and forth back and forth to the final one LOL great video thank you for the advice. I couldn't find the Elmer's wood filler but I got dap wood filler and it appears to be the same product.

I've been trying to use a pretty cheap wood filler to fill in a few little gaps of a print that I need to cast, once it dried as soon as I got water on it to sand it it completely melted away. I prefer to use a 3d printer pen for seam lines. It lightly melts the two pieces lightly together, and adds plastic to the seam line. Then sand it, once it cools. It does take a little practice, so you wont gouge the two pieces.

Rick Legendary Keep in mind I'm new to this, but From what I've read, XTC-3D, that's what it's called, is used for covering the print lines, and smoothing those, and the stuff he is talking is for the bigger stuff, and I believe it can be used on pretty much all stuff, but don't quote me on that. Although if you are using ABS, I believe you can use Acetone to join seams, and hide print lines
