How to fill out the Schengen Visa Application Form (Tourist Visa/Short Stay) | Schengen Visa part 5

Some people who have watched my videos have asked me how to fill out the Schengen Visa application form. So here it is, a step-by-step Schengen Visa form filling guide.
Do take note that some Schengen Countries require you to fill out the form online (Netherlands, France, Belgium, etc.). Make sure to have your passport with you while filling out the application form.

It depends where you're currently a resident. In some countries, you can apply with the embassy. Whereas in other countries, you'll have to apply via an application center (VFS, BLS, or VIA)

If you can support yourself and your finances are in order, it would be better to apply for purely tourism purposes. If someone will invite you, you would need to establish and show proof of your relationship with the inviting person.

Does India have a unique national ID? I've been reading about the Aadhar Card but some say that it isn't a national ID. You can ask the VFS personnel on your appointment date just to be sure.

Is your family member an EU national/citizen or an EU resident only? If the family member is an EU national/citizen, you can skip those numbers as indicated by the application form. If the family member is a resident, you still need to fill out those numbers

Hi! Indicate the date when your biometric was taken. For the biometric number, you'll have to leave to either write "not applicable" or leave it blank (if you cannot write N/A). The embassy would be able to check and see your refused visa from your previous application even if it was from a different country.

Affix the photo with a paper clip first. The VFS personnel will help you during your biometric to place the photo in the correct position.

How about for work employment purposes? Single or multiple entry b?

You'll have to fill out a different form, the National Visa/Long Stay Visa Form. Also, you must first have an approved work permit in most Schengen countries. Once you get the work permit and the embassy has given you a visa D, you'll have to report to the migration office to "convert" your Visa D to a residence permit. Looking at the long stay visa form of France, there's no question about the number of entries.

1. Your friend's apartment address 2. Explain your friendship in the cover letter. You may include photos if you'd like 3. write your friend's name 4. write a cover letter to explain all necessary points in your application 5. Tick all which would apply in your situation. If you have your own money, tick that one as well

21 and 22 refers to your occupation and its address, NOT of your sponsor's. If you are being sponsored and the sponsor lives in the Schengen area, fill in #30 and #32. If sponsored and the sponsor does not live in the Schengen Area, fill in #32 and indicate your sponsor's name and check all the items that will be sponsored.

Kindly contact the embassy where you will be applying if they will indeed allow you to apply. AFAIK, if you're only holding a visit visa in the UK, you cannot apply for a Schengen Visa from there.

Hi Vraj! #20 - your H1b visa or residence card number whichever is applicable #25 - either, since you'll be staying for the same number of days If it were me, I'd choose the one with a cheaper airline route 😅 #30 - mention the name of the first hotel you'll be staying at Then, include "please see itinerary for complete accomodations list".

If you are a student abroad, add the current visa details that allows you to stay abroad. A visitor visa will not count as a Residence document

Yes, for the application form you'll have to indicate you're a student. You may also write "no occupation (university student)". Are you planning to travel during your sem break or summer break?

Yes. I would usually glue one photo on the upper right portion of the application form and attach the second photo with a paper clip to the back of my passport.

@@ebontanecollins9561 Yes, that's correct. The EU harmonized application form has a "box" for the photo whereas the non-EU countries don't have that particular box.

There's no need to. Some applicants add their middle name to their given name, I never did.

Since Lithuania is represented by Norway, you must follow through the application using Norway's online application form.

It's for married women or those who had a change in surname. You can write N/A, since it does not apply to you.

Hi Miss Raine, I'm just curious, how come in Field or Question number 3 of the application which the Given names, aren't we including our middle name for that question?

Nope, just the given name (your first and other names, if you have any). The concept of the "middle name" for those in the Schengen Area is different from the concept of middle names that Asians have (mom's maiden name). For those in Europe (mostly), a middle name would be their second given name.

I have been to Europe on a transit visa when I was still a seafarer back in 2004. I was issued that transit visa in Antwerp, Belgium but I can't find that old passport of mine where that transit visa sticker was placed but I can still remember that date it was issued but don't know the sticker number anymore. Do I still have to tick "Yes" to that question, please help me what to do?

@@artlaurent Tick yes and indicate the year. Since that was ages ago, they won't be able to find it in their system as they only keep data for 5 years unless there was a warning from the Schengen Information System about the person

Hi, Raine you are doing amazing work . I love your channel. you will have millions of subscriber soon . I am planning to go Germany. my Partner is in Germany . As you mentioned in your video we both need Unmarried certificate. My partner is an Italian citizen and living in Germany from where she can get the unmarried certificate. What I found from Google its Civil Registry office. They donot have any option to select for unmarried certificate.

Then, write your surname at birth. Is the passport you are using in your maiden name (when you were still single)? It would be really different from your married name.

Which country are you applying with? You'll submit the application and have your biometrics at either VFS, BLS, or VIA. There's no visa interview. However,there are instances when the visa officer would like some clarification and thus, would contact you via email or call.

Hi Mei! If you are self-employed, technically, you do not have any employer, especially if you own a business. This is just my assumption though as I do not have any firsthand experience filling in an application form as a self-employed individual. Here's a suggestion: If you are going to submit your application with VFS soon, you can print out 2 copies of the specific page and fill in one copy with the business name and address of your small business and the other one without it. Don't forget to ask clarification from the VFS personnel as they will guide you with that.

Hi, just to close this thread, they accepted the documents with Self-Employed for Occupation, and the name of my business and address, under Employer/Employer address. Thanks for the tips again. 😊

This is if you'll be traveling to other countries other than your home country after your trip. For example, you're an Indian national living in Qatar and you'll return to Qatar after your trip from Spain. You'll have to write your residence permit number and its validity there.

Hey I have my appointment on 13 sep for spain tourist visa..I filled my application form in a correct way but after submitting when I downlaod the form..there was a little mistake they added my address in place of inviting company ..what can I do now?? Which specific website did you complete the form in? Typically, if there are corrections, the instructions say you can change forms and submit the correct one during the appointment

@@MissRaineTravels I have applied from bls spain website...at last when appointment booked there was a option that you can downlaod your application form from this option..I downlaoded but in this form one to two mistakes are present...like they add my address in place of inviting company ..I remember I do not choose this option but don't know how this happened? You'll be leaving your passport with either the visa application center or embassy during your biometrics appointment. In most cases, there's no interview, it would be more submission of documents and getting your biometrics on your appointment date.

Hello, I'm from Australia and currently in Thailand. On page 4 it says place and date of the application. Because I am not currently in my own country will this effect my visa application. Also does the visa application accept digital signatures? Thank you so much ☺️

AFAIK, Australians are visa-exempt for the Schengen Area. If you're not Australian, do check if the embassy will allow you to apply as a non-resident in Thailand. Some embassies are quite strict and do not allow applications from non-residents.

The letter of invitation indicates the dates you are invited to a particular country. Once those dates have passed, you cannot use it once more.

If the letter has not yet been forwarded to the embassy, I would suggest that you request the inviting person or company to indicate the travel dates.

How about the rest of the travel expenses? Who will be shouldering them? If you will shoulder most of the expenses, your bank statements should be able to cover your travel. If it will be sponsored by your husband, on #32, tick covered by a sponsor and check all that will be covered by him.

Hi! 1. The links I've provided are the latest ones. I think every Schengen country has their own form in their own language and in English. Which specific country are you going to apply with? Some countries prefer that you complete the form online (France, Netherlands). 2. In the Philippines, where I submit my application, there's no application number asked for when I book an appointment. Where are you applying from? Maybe, I can check it out for you.
