Often times I have a spot somewhere that is just... boring. There trees or flowers but not much else. Need a filler to make the space look dynamic? Here is a little way to make the landscape more interesting~
I have a 5 stars island but it doesn't look as good as other islands, it just look empty I wish they added more buildings or allow you to have more villagers
New buildings would be awesome. I really want to have a stand alone cafe or flower shop. Happy home had such a great way to make shops stand out and if they could bring that back it would be just amazing.
You can make some additional accounts on your switch, so you can get more homes in Animal Crossing. Those houses can be turned in to shops, hotels and so on :)
I have a 5 star island, too, but no place to put anything. The original island had some nice waterfalls and rivers going thru the island, but I would need to remove some to add more space. We shall see...
To be honest, most of the back hills are from where they originally were. I tried working with the terrain first and then terraformed to clean it up or dig out space to make it more accessible! You can still have awesome looking islands with minimal terraforming.
I personally think they should add more buildings, such as: -barbershop (change up your hair) -greenhouse (grow rare flowers, hybrids, or anything you want) -flower shop, instead of having to wait for Lief -gym, since there’s a lot of workout gear (villagers can actually work out there)
I've seen someone use stalls to make a fake little greenhouse for decoration, then outside of it they had dirt patches in specific arrangements to help them make flower hybrids
i’m at this point where my island is so confusing😂 i just don’t know where to put anything, i’m definitely going to try this though! edit: thanks for all the likes
I felt the same way and just decided to start a new island- felt bad at first because I had done so much work on my original island, but now I'm happy I started over
First off, alllllll islands are beautiful! DA-5078-3961-4847 is my dream code if you wanna check it out. It’s not perfect at all but I like sharing it cause it’s not too crazy or anything. Also don’t mind Marcel if you go cause his catchphrase is a Jojo reference I think 😂
honestly I’m just having fun with it. I don’t care if my island looks weird to other people, and I got it to 5 stars 😌 my tip is just plop things down until it feels right to you
I like to imagine what a town would need to provide for its populace; a place to buy food, do laundry etc. Then I'll take an area and use fencing or one tile-length cliff to use as 'walls' to enclose it. You can even modify simple panels to look like shelving or wallpaper!
I love this! Whenever an area has cute shopping or places that just make sense I'm always a huge fan. Same with "functional" houses with bathrooms, kitchens, etc.
@milkymxoon you just make a second account on your switch and open up new horizons :). The island is tied to your switch console, not your switch account. I have a spare for a cafe and honestly dont really touch the account unless I am redecorating the cafe, you can still just do your daily's on the main and then place money outside.of the spares 'house' for you to pick up and use to expand the spares 'house'
I love doing this, the extra cliffs just add a little something even if it's just a tree and a flower. I also like to add little waterfalls to mine because the aesthetic of a bunch of small waterfalls is just so pretty
what do i do if my ENTIRE island is wasted space and there is no decorations, i put decorations up but it always look not good or messy or i dont like it, so what do i do?
Planting patches of trees and garden is helpful. One thing I've been doing is also making little sectioned themed areas for any nooks in the cliffs. I have a reading area, instrument area, and a little drink stand to fill out spots. Sometimes making themed fenced in spots is suuuper helpful!
@@Lily-mt9dd Yeah I'm not a fan of Isabelle's rating system. That's why I never make it a requirement to have a 5 star island when I do island visits. Some of the best islands I've ever seen has been either 3 or 4 stars just because of the creativity and flow breaking out of Isabelle's rating box.
Sounds like I need to make more wasted space ideas! :D You'll get there though. It definitely feels that way but after a while you'll end up being like "I want another island I'm out of room." lololol
I’m so jealous of the look of your island. My island is so bad for the most part because I just don’t know how to execute all my ideas and terraform, etc. I’ve really struggled with creativity.
I always find breaking the island down into small areas to fill a lot easier. It can be overwhelming if you look at the island as a whole. Tucked in areas against cliffs for outdoor seating, book nooks, or mini stands for outdoor shops help fill out the map!
Kuriie definitely!! The area I’ve spent the most time on thus far is my entrance/resident services/shopping area. I’ve kept everything close and tied in together. I just get overwhelmed when I open my map because I wonder what more I can do to fill it out hahaha
This video just uncorked my creative block when it comes to seeing other peoples terraforming (especially the really obnoxious ones), but thank you for doing what no other RU-vidr could!! My island is looking sharp thanks to you. Subscibed :)
This was super nice to read. Thanks for such a huge compliment. I'm truly honored and it totally made my night. If there are ever any tutorials or things you want to see or have questions on, please feel free to ask. :)
this video was so helpful! my airport is super close to my left beach and i made a big entrance, and still had some left over space that i didnt know what to do with, so this inspired me to do some landscaping and add some cliffs ☺️
This was so cute to watch! It was not overwhelming and left a lot of room for creativity. Although I enjoy seeing people and these amazing and beautiful islands sometimes it’s nice to find something a bit more simple ❤️ Thank you for the inspiration!
Finally someone with no cluttered island with custom designs everywhere! Ive been looking for this “style” but everyone has fairycore or cottagecore! Aah! Tysm!
I can’t believe you posted this a month ago and it’s still super relevant! I wish I saw it earlier but honestly it’s still gonna be helpful to me now. I have a 5 star island, I think I’ve terraformed well and decorated nicely so I’m like mostly happy with it, but this tip is hopefully gonna seal the deal! Until I need to redo my island out of boredom again haha.
Haha, yeah I typically make videos like this when I get a lot of questions on it, so chances are a lot of people are thinking the same thing. I'm glad it is still helpful to old and new players! I used this trick all over the place on my island and its one of the few things i haven't touched at all since I did it!
I can't believe this method actually makes a section of my island look better! The wedding area in my island was decent, but with these awesome cliffs, the area now rocks! Thank you to whoever made the video, it really helped me a lot! ◕‿◕
Just like many others have stated here, you have helped me as well! I was goin for a nature and medieval kind of theme for my island, and i was thinking of adding your idea to certain parts of my island! P.s i got 5 star rating from isabelle thanks to the mannequins i placed everywhere.(for rock spawn management) So the ranking system isabelle has literally comes down to how much shit you can scatter across the island. So ignore the ratings system and let your creativity do the ranking!
It will take me awhile to put everything together because I'm still gathering items and such to put my island together. I was thinking about makin the bottom half of the island a kind of plaza where its open and there's like those open markets u see in fantasy games. I also need to start gathering statues as well, but i don't know how to gather them, because I have seen numerous types. My game is also in version 1.2.0b, before they patched the mail dupe glitch(which i haven't been doin lately) i wanna update, but i dont at the same time. If any of you have interesting ideas, let me know!
So I had this problem after the rainy season. I ended up just spending a little time each day digging up flowers and selling them regardless of hybrids or not. After I put transparent paths on the ground around the ones I wanted to keep to prevent them from spreading! Helped a bunch.
I moved all my hybrids to the beach, and am going to make a listing on Nookazon to sell them. You can also pay ppl on Nookazon or a discord server to come in and remove all the flowers. Selling them isn't really worth enough for the time, imo, and so it's more convenient to just throw them in a trash can.
Thank you so much for this video! Up until yesterday I had this awkward space and didn’t what should I do with, I thought of adding some cliffs and a waterfall for aesthetics but waterfalls can be a bit noisy so I didn’t want add too many of them >< so thank you for this simple idea! ❤️
Very nice. I'm theme-less.. wanted a western one.. its difficult, AC doesn't have a Sedona-red rock pattern. I'll have to design it myself. It's only for me because I don't own Nintendo Online. Unsure if its worth it.
It's been worth it for me but that's because I travel to friends island a lot. Also a Sedona town would be beautiful! That's my favorite city in Arizona 😍 If you participate in the bug-off, Flick gives termite mounds which would work really well because they look like tall rock structures and have a sandy yellowish-range tint to them instead of the grey rocks you can usually craft.
lol this video makes me want to move everything to the beach and redo my entire island! i want to completely terraform it and make it beautiful, maybe that will happen sometime😅thanks for the video!
To be honest I actually didn't too too much terraforming to the original placement of the cliff sides! I only added or chipped away pathways to make it more easy to get around :-) So you can make islands super cute without over-terraforming the buns out of it!
This is litterally what I do because I've gotten into the fairycore trend with waterfalls, and cliffs with flowers, etc. Amazing video's, new subscriber!
thank you for making this video! 💓 now i just need to find the motivation to start terraforming lol. i still have my remaining hills from the start of the game that i need to remove ughh 😫
Very cute idea. Though I am sitting here wondering where the extra stuff in your phone (Nook Shopping) and Hardwood trees came from. I have only been playing since June so not sure if it is location based or I am just missing them.
Nook Shopping is given to you once you spend enough money at the ABD! It's a high amount (like 100k or something) but Nook will basically say "Yeah we like how much you spent hear is an app.) The hardwood trees are just plain full grown trees I dug up from the round by eating first!
I wanna say I made something yesterday where I filled out that one small grass area by the ocean that isn’t a beach by putting a small ramp up to a cliff to dive into the ocean off of, I decorated it using the cooler ck gives you at the fishing tourney and some surfboards :)
My Island looks really bad I just don’t know how to terraform I know what I want my island to be themed around but idk how to do it 😭 (it’s a story book theme)
In order to terraform, you need a 3 star rating on your island. Then you will get the island designer app as well as the options to buy the cliff construction tool, waterscaping tool, and a variety of different paths which are sold separately. All these things are bought with nook miles at the nook stop
I have some ideas for your island! Since it’s a story book theme there you could make a little library at the entrance that you have to pass through. Then you could give your different villagers characters for them that are from storybooks and decorate their houses like that (ie, Marina as a princess with a castle, Raymond as Peter Pan with a house near the woods, etc.) You could look at designs for storybook themes, etc. I hope that helped!
something small i did is add a post office. put the brown bricks on the floor, fenced it off, added a type writer and some other furniture and added all my characters mailboxes to it (i have three - my main, then the one for the diner and the one for the theatre) :)
If I dug them up the game usually says I need my trusty shovel, but new plants I don't need one! I just have a habit of digging holes from old games too haha.
It's refreshing to see new terraforming ideas, but idk why I don't like it at all. Lol I love my flat space! But that's ME and it looks amazing on your island
That's totally understandable. Having a flat island makes it SO much larger and I totally get why people have them that way. Plus the access to the back beach is so cool on flat islands!
i did this in all of my island because I found the spaces too large and I like making lil secrets passages and it makes everything so much better ! be sure to put transparent patterns where you dont put flowers or furniture so you wont have fossils spawning up there !
So I have two parts to making my videos. One is using an capture card. I use an Elgato HD60S, but Avermedia and other cards work just as well. It plugs into my Switch dock, and then into the computer. Unfortunately that part costs money to buy. On the bright side: OBS Studio which I use to record the capture is totally free! I also use it for recording my other games as well as livestreaming. Hope this helps!
This is gonna come in handy, thank you! 💖 Now i just gotta figure out what to do with my entrance! I don't have a set theme, i just like flowers and pink (hence my flower field). The symmetrical square cliffs i have with hybrid flowers surrounding a moon looks boring imo 😔 Any suggestions would be welcome!
The sea shell furniture that's craftable can be customized to be pink that goes super nice with the pink lillies and hyacinth. Also if you have the cherry blossom recipes there's great pink items for that as well! Maybe put things like that that go with the pink color? Also the terracotta ground is perfect with pink flowers and you can make beautiful path designs with it! Either way I am excited to see what you come up with and I hope you share pictures or a dream address when you are done!
i wish they could make a building for brewsters, so it could be it’s own little building. i also wish there was a flower shop so leif could always be there to sell the different flowers and shrubs. so that way the little town area could be filled up a bit more.
I have a lot of empty space in my island cause I cleaned it up and I don’t know what to do with it but whenever I want to see designs or visit and island *I DONT HAVE NINTENDO ONLINE* which hurts me a lot and I don’t terraform good, what should I do with it?
I'd say making little small "sections" of areas helps to decorate it. For me, I have a mini library book nook tucked by a cliff, an instrument area, flower gardens, and a vineyard. I try to think of my villagers and what they would like and make areas with them in mind!
sometimes i get these big surges where i want to terraform my entire island and make everything look amazing and then the other half of the time im sobbing because i dont know what to put in the space
I have 2 Switch consoles, my main one is a northern hemisphere I’ve been playing since day one. It’s okay, I started doing terraforming more to jazz it up. I recently started the Southern Hemisphere island... Let me tell you, you CAN make too many decorative cliffs because I think I’ve successfully done that on my newest island 🤣
My islands so empty cause i wish we had more buildings. Like Leaf's Flower Shop or a cafe or Kicks Shoe Store or maybe even Labbelle's botique or salon so we make more custom designs or WAY more hairstyles
