Did a 2010 town and country today and it took 40 minutes and I still am not convinced I got all the air out. Barely had any heat before. It was roasting after I took it for a test drive. Had to keep squeezing upper hose to get bubbles out. I heard Dodge and Chrysler were hard to get air out and now I know. I used a floor jack and jacked up front of van while burping.

There are fluids which calim to repair headgasket. they work as long as you use the correct one and the leak is not big. no harm in trying it out.
@coolantkid3428
@coolantkid3428 3 года назад
The Prestone used here is a universal extended life coolant, it's perfectly fine to use, you do not need the OEM Toyota coolant. However, as seen in the second half of the video, your system needs a thorough flush with fresh water, the old nasty brown coolant mixed with the clean, new coolant and that is not ideal at all. Might even have a blown head gasket, as bad as that stuff looks. How many miles did this car have? Is it still running today?

This isn't going to fix your leaky radiator and the Stop Leak will clog your thermostat and blow up your cooling system. You're gonna need to take out your thermostat and either really clean it or replace it, as well as flush and replace all the coolant. Before replacing the coolant you'll also need to find and have the leaks properly fixed by a professional who knows what they're doing.

@josephk9182 2 года назад
I believe you had/have a leak in the radiator hoses that was corrected or you have a leak of the coolant into the engine block. This issue may appear in the summer when weather is hot. Usually When you have a coolant leak you will smell it. You can test it in mechanic shop. The mechanic will apply pressure on the radiator where is the cap and verify that no leak. Also check the radiator cap.

So yesterday, my 99 le sabre ran out of coolant and quit running. Tomorrow, I've gotta fill it up so I can drive it to the shop, 4 blocks. I bought 50/50 today. It's sub zero outside and I'm also a single mom... 1. Do I need heat to drive it? Being so cold out, I'd expect all the coolant to be out before I'd feel any heat. 2. The car died... Would u expect it to start once the radiator is filled n burped, or will I have to jump it? I've got a jumper... Thank you for your time and advice.
@josephk9182
@josephk9182 4 года назад
The radiator function is to cool the engine. If the outside temperature is freeze you can drive the car 4 blocks with no coolant, just look on the engine heat indicator on your car dashboard and make sure the engine doesn't over heat . The car died has nothing to do with the coolant. You should try to jump start the car. You also should fix the coolant leak as soon as possible.

Anybody else think the head gasket on this car is blown and there is oil in the coolant?
@hornmonk3zit
@hornmonk3zit 2 года назад
100%. The radiator started pumping out the coolant from the cap end when they took the funnel off so there was definitely pressure from the valve train pumping through, which is further evidenced by the fact the brand new orange coolant instantly turned milky brown. I'd bet if he took the oil fill cap off it looks like Starbucks mocha frappe foam under there.

Couple notes on this- never touch coolant with your bare hands!! It is extremely toxic, and can even absorb through your skin. Skin absorption is not the biggest concern, as when coolant is directly on your hands, this increases the likelihood it may enter your body in other ways, such as if you touch other things, food, drink, etc. So wear gloves and always wash your hands. Don't just use the orange coolant like the guy said, do your research beforehand and double check for your vehicle, even if you use a Toyota. Better yet, just use the universal stuff.
