I started my first journal 14 months ago and you, Wendy, are the first journal video artist I ever watched and who inspired me to do so. I had always avoided art because I was discouraged at school. I can't tell you how grateful I am for changing that. Now I draw, paint, write or collage in my 'treasure book' every day. It helps me so much on darker days as well as providing surprise and delight. Thank you for being so generous with sharing your time and knowledge. 🙏

I photocopy old book pages and distress them...maybe tea or coffee dye them….and use them in my journal.

Since I am watching your channel, which is now 2 years, I'm much more comfortable to work in my own sketchbooks and am not afraid anymore to mess it up, because I can simply paint over or glue smth on top. I'm so happy I could work some of your techniques and ideas into my art and grow with it, despite going into a different artsy direction. Now my sketchbooks don't look empty anymore and that brings me so much joy. In general, I love your videos and watch them whenever I am creative myself.

Peaceful greetings to you. I just found your channel. I really love this video. I’m a senior lady and made a decision a year ago to stop watching news and instead start journaling. I used to feel anxious after watching local and world news. So this has been a greeting healing tool for me. I’m not artistic like you, but all your ideas are doable and inspiring. I use glitter pens when writing in my journal or going over my doodles. I love my journal it's my best friend right now. I use it for meditation answers , healing and gratitude. ❤

10 years ago I created an art journal from a thrift-store book and it was so fun! In addition to journaling I used it for testing various media like chalk, paint, metallics, inks, crayons, pastels, etc. Your delightful video and all the ideas have rekindled my interest and I’m going to start again. Thank you for the inspiration! Edit: just remembered something cool to do, which is I exchanged journals with a friend and we each made a couple of pages in the other’s journal as a “guest artist”! 🧑‍🎨

How magical your journals are! I truly love them, but the one thing that stands out in that whole lovely journal was your picture when you were a little girl, that was a light bulb moment for me. We sometimes forget to take care of her and need to cherish that little girl inside of us. How better to personalize a journal, you captured a moment in time of yourself, to bring along on your journey to where you are now and where you want to go, with your thoughts and emotions. Good morning Wendy from a cool but sunny part cloudy day here in Northern California. More rain to come but a nice AM and a nice cup of tea with you . I’ve written down so much as I’ve listened to you talk about the wonderful life of journaling. As I mentioned in the past I’ve used an old book that I’ve been altering for my first journal. It’s not quite full yet and I still have the front and back to do. Your ideas will help me along the way and my next journal will be much better but I’m actually proud of my first attempt. Watercolors makes the best journal...you dont have to use words. You just make a memorial for those thoughts at that time. Going back years later, theyll still mean the same thing to you. I love that sweater btw.

I was getting overwhelmed bc I am moving (again... lately I've been moving twice a year!) and have arrived at the stage where I need to sort through my bins of old journals and paper ephemera I've had for the last decade... i have done journals for decades.. and decorative art journals for many years. but i just got a new journal recently that a friend sent to me that has a leather cover and 200 handmade pages ( which i love) and i will be using it to record all my memories of my mother who just passed away. I will be using watercolor , washi ( from taiwan sent from a friend) , tissue i have, things i have cut out of magazines that match memories, my own painting, etc. This video of yours is perfect to remind me of all i can do.

I love your bunny rabbits. Actually I love all your art. You are so encouraging and so sweet. I love listening to you and your company while creating. I plan to start a journal once I’m finished with current project making a dolls house out of cardboard and other upcycled materials as inspired by Ara Bentley of Bentleys miniatures. Seeing this today makes we want to start putting together a book and start journaling. In the past I've written thoughts, feelings etc. You Wendy are an inspiration. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas but more importantly how to use them for artistic expression, gratitude, celebrating life and processing emotions. This is the kind of journaling that has real purpose but is still fun & personal. Exactly how I want to journal. Thank you so much for sharing ❤

Мне греет душу такие книжки. Я бы хотела узнать их историю. В семидесятых я собирали все в книжку и заметила что мир открывается какими-то другими сторонами. В двух наклейках на много больше информации чем в обзацах книги. Меня это потрясло потому что не важно о чем была сама книга. Но один раз одноклассник вытащил ее из моего портфеля . И впервые я стала посмешищем в классе. Все это тряпочки, Лейбы, картинки. И вот спустя тысячу лет я встречаю такие видео. Серьезный человек занимается таким творчеством и совсем из другой страны. Это явно какая то традиция. У которой есть своё победное начало чем мое. Потому что больше ни разу за всю жизнь я не сделала ни одной страницы.

This...just may give me the little nudge I need to try an art journal this year. What a wonderful way to also save the little glimmers such as notes and bits and bobs found or given and inspire the blank page before me. It's been causing alot of resistance these past few months and has been a bugger to break through. Thank you Wendy for sharing your beautiful work and insights.

I find working in my art/junk journal is safe place for creative play. I collect packaging things like tags, fruit stickers, etc to stick in my pages. Going on Pinterest, most Junk journals have little way of 'junk' or every day ephemera as mostly printables or vintage style. Your style of journal is unique and I see your style flow through. A lot of early journals were mostly like scrapbooking, I stick stuff on pages with little fuss, later added stickers, samples of embroidery or beading. In last few year, I went Junk journal route and brought lots of ready made vintage ephemera. Washi stickers are nice but they produce a lot waste the clear plastic backing gets thrown in the bin so instead I'm finding a way to use them. I want to add some of drawings and abstract art into the pages but incompatible with grungy vintage style. I have wild eclectic style, doesn't matter as nothing ever matches anyway. I tend make my own journal as difficult to find blank notebook without lined paper other than Moleskine. So wonderful to see your art journal as shows you don't needs lots stencils, stamps or branded ephemera to produce lovely pages.
