I am 72 years old and a 16 handicap. I have tried these tips and I find they are really excellent, not only they are very simple to understand and execute, but they bring consistency and also accuracy. The impact of the club face with the ball becomes clean without any loss of energy. Great coaching!
68 year old in Texas. I have arthritis and lucky me.......bone spurs to boot. Rotation can be difficult some days and without proper rotation my feeble mind thinks I can get more power by raising up. I know that's false but it's a difficult habit to break.
I started doing the same thing and it’s because I’m right eye dominant and it makes a hell of a difference when you look at the ball from a different angle.
@@stratovani just need to be a golfer . no need to be young , isn't it ?and i've been Wachusett Country Club . hope i will be there one day . anyway , if you mind about offering to be friend , i'm sorry 😇
@@USGOLFTVshow why did you tilt your head the “incorrect way” on your last swing? The head tilting facing left and body turning right physically makes zero sense. You would want to turn your face right as that is “starting the turn” what is going on man?
I'm 73 and from South Bend Indiana I just got back into golf after being out of it for 15 years and topping the ball has been an issue for me but now I understand what I need to do to correct it. Great Video thanks.
Thanks for the instruction Todd. I'm in Norfolk, England. I especially like your "hip hinge" tip. I've just tried the swing in my living room with no club and no ball but I already like the feel on my backswing. My speciality is waist-high hybrid shots ... but only out on the course. On the range I hit them long and high. Very annoying!
I am in St Augustine. I was having this issue this weekend. I was more focused on keeping my head down and never thought about foot positioning. Definitely something to take to the range.
I have a bad back so thats why I stand up. If I tried rotating on a slant toward the ball I'd snap something in my lower back. Some people I believe just dont have the physical ability to rotate on that slant.
Hi Coach, and I hope you are well. Many thanks, and once again, a great video. Now, in Bucharest and tomorrow, head back to Dubai. Sunday, I should be playing at Sharjah Golf Course, and I will be soooooooo rusty. This video should help me at the warm-up area before playing. Best wishes to you, Nick, and all of US Golf TV for the weekend.
Bill from Williamsburg, VA (California transplant 10 years ago). My main issue is, as someone suggested, keeping from digging a hole with my irons. Thin grass still here too.
I just started playing golf 3 weeks ago Iam from Montreal Canada and I will be trying what You just thought on this video to help me with my direct contacts. Thank You sir!.
On Your last swing you tilted your head “the incorrect way” The head tilt looking left is completely wrong. Your head is turning left, how does that allow your body to turn right? Your neck and torso fight each other. You’re supposed to tilt right and back…which is why you did it on your last swing. Why would you teach that!?!?!
Trying to get back into golf at age 59 in England mainly because my 16 year old daughter is showing interest (she can already hi her driver as far as me). Glad to have stumbled across this channel and now subscribed
Awesome, golf is the best sport as it brings people together. Being new to the game and 59, you would benefit from our book THE BAD LIE where we cover the entire Vertical Line Swing. You can find it on Amazon if interested.
From Atlanta area. 76 year old, 20+ handicap and Maxvert owner. Watched this lesson this morning before playing. Great tips. The best for me was the head tilt. Sounds so simple but really made a difference on feeling more open to swing through and easier to keep the trail shoulder down and through the shot. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Larry and for purchasing the Maxvert! Be sure to send an email to nick@usgolftv.com and we'll get you a great discount on your next purchase!
Very enlightening. I'm 70 and I find it hard to have repeat muscle memory. The harder I try to correct, the deeper into trouble I go with my swing. Help.
Im sorry but that isnt how Nicklause tilted his head. Go watch the video of his swing. his chin actually moves slightly towards his back shoulder. That was the little trigger for the start of his swing.
Good video Todd. I'm guilty of losing hip hinge at time. I think getting too quick/losing tempo contributes. The pause at the top as you transition helps too. But definitely will try the head tilt. Bill from Chicagoland.
Are you sure Jack N rotated it that way? i always thought from his books that he rotated his chin Away from the target and thus focusing his left eye on the ball!

Senior golfer from Bournemouth Dorset UK. I tend to have this problem but I always turn my head the other way as I am left eye dominant which I thought Jack Nicklaus did. Are you sure you're correct or do you turn your head to the left because you are right eye dominant?
Thanks Todd, I’m glad this video played again after watching it before and applying these techniques. I found out I needed a refresher. Now it’s ingrained in my brain. Also I think if a person takes more time setting up at address they can become more consistent. Thanks again
Tony from Covina California, I’ve been struggling with a dreaded shank with my wedges and it’s because I’m standing up in the downswing. I will definitely apply the pointers in this video. Hopefully it helps. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hello from Minnesota , stopped golf because I heeled 50% of the last round I played . Standing up and almost missing the ball on the heel. Foot spray powder in the face gave me that feedback . Can’t wait to try these drills .
Im 52, from Nova Scotia Canada. Just taking up golf within the last month! Havent actually played a round yet. Ive taken one lesson, with another one coming this Friday. Im nervous! Beyond all the postures, after 60 most people stand up because they have back/hip problems. They are not capable of staying in the shot because of pain avoidance or subconscious anticipation. I know for a fact. I have not seen one of these gurus address this most common issue. The ones that made a small mention of it, didn't have any workable or sustainable suggestions. Just asking, what would you do if a knife was stuck in your middle back everytime you set up in correct posture. Quit golf I suppose.
Hi John, very valid points. That's exactly what our book, The Bad Lie, and the Vertical Line Swing explain! The whole book is geared toward why traditional instruction doesn't work for older golfers, and how you can make a more body-friendly swing. Check it out here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B35T5JMR Thanks for watching!
In your video you tip the top of your head towards your right shoulder, Jack tipped his chin back towards right shoulder. When you take your swing you actually do it correctly.
Excellent job Todd in defining the problem and the solution to "topped shots!" I like your idea of "hip hinge" with the belt buckle pointing down, not forward or up when making a shot. Could having the ball too far forward also be problematic with "topped shots?" Well Done Todd!
Hope the information helps. This is also a great video to watch on ball striking ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G9JtCSdgCL8.htmlsi=tgSJEzhvmxIF2GCI
I thought Big Jack turned his head at address, to focus on the ball through his dominant left eye. It’s not possible to keep your head in a tilted position. look at the video.
My dad’s been coming up for years. He wants to see the ball. I took a clamp to his hat with a chain down to the balls and if you come up once, you will feel it and not do it ever again 🤣
Pigeon Toes is a condition that some of us are born with. Both or one of our feet are pointed down and in. I had to have surgeries and casts as I grew my feet were able to grow out where they are straight. Just letting you know I am not complaining, I just wanted you to know. Maj Walker
I am Raj from Mauritius and I tuned in to your program, tonight for the first time. I was amazed by the brilliant way you teach and make it so easy to follow your instructions. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I used these tips today and hit my driver and my 3/5 wood better than I have in a while. Shot in the low 90’s which is better than usual.
TODD YOU ARE THE BEST. You answered my question - almost before I asked it! How to keep my head down = How to stop standing up through Impact. I will impliment these tips today and let you know the results!
@@angelaamoroso3279 great to hear from you again! Thank you. We have a great team and a wonderful following. Fun to share what we have learned over the years with our fellow golfers.
@@USGOLFTVshow Oh! So nice to be remember and missed! Well today was a good day for chip/pitch (kept right arm close to body) and amazing putting. I am getting the reputation as the putting queen amongst the young golfers. Not many topping of the ball, today but I was playing with scratch handicapers (lovely boys) so I used my trusty 4 iron instead of my 5 wood which I have nick-named Toppers. (I have another name for it, but not for social media). Enjoying Norwegian summer in the city, and being close to my golf club. More soon from the PQ of Oslo Golf Club. (also thanks to you.) 🥰
Just curious as I am a new golfer. My wrist are always sore after going to the range or playing nine holes. Is that just bad technique or using muscles I haven’t used in a while? Thanks From Suburbs of Philadelphia
You should not feel pain in the arms or wrists after one round. As a new golfer you would benefit from reading our book THE BAD LIE which you can find on Amazon. It covers the entire Vertical Line Swing System.

As a person who has never been able to golf much, but loves it... & does every possible thing wrong... hitting on top, missing the ball, LOL, etc... I LOVE YOU PEOPLE. Thanks for the video. I'm going to practice this when I set up my new golf tent in coming days... I'm getting all ready (when my work is done & the heat wave passes), watching these videos, so I can practice good swings, & not my usual mess, reinforcing mess, up here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by the awesome Great Lakes

Hi Todd, John here on the south coast of England near Brighton! Great advice and I can see that I will need to be patient but already I'm topping say 5% less than when I started your tips. Rotation is a problem for me I broke my ankle last year I'm 74. I guess it is just time and steady practice, I'll keep you posted - many thanks for the drills!
Just found your channel. I used to play a lot of golf when I was younger, now I’m older and trying to get back to playing more and getting back to the basics. Your videos have helped. Thanks checking in from west central Illinois
Thank you. My problem is that I focus on ball turf contact and toe side strikes (my natural tendency is heel strikes), and if I try to bring in other thoughts that leads to more miss hits. How do I overcome this?
Checking in from Reno. 72 years young. Found your video yesterday. Took it out to the golf course and I gotta say it really worked great for me. I flared the feet a lot.I had more good iron shots in the game than anytime in years. Even my fairway woods I crushed. But the kicker was the head placement. I forgot about that. I was hitting my driver ok, nothing great. But then I remember that, and for the last 7 drives, everyone was long and stright. Right where i aimed. Best feeling I've ever had for a driver. A big thank you.
