If you would like to see the finance details for the Porsche 718 Cayman I owned watch here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--IQpvKKCFRc.html
Good video. I bet with the huge shortage now you'd get way more if you wanted to sell it :) don't, great car! Just got my 992 Carerra cabriolet allocation after a year wait... delivery ETA early June '22.
Few points - good video - deposit to order a 992 depends on the dealer . It’s not set by Porsche , I got numbers ranging from 10-30k for my 992 turbo s order. Interesting point about finance - it’s the fsa that have changed affordability criteria so having a good credit score matters less than it use too, it still matters but now the finance company have a responsibility to check the customer can actually afford it and a credit score doesn’t tell them that. So it’s bank statements and tax returns usually .
My options were limited based on how I pay myself. VW Finance gave me an option to fund it the way I did as a way of doing the finance. I think really they can fund the down payment and loan how they want but it would seem the final payment is tied to the residual value of the car at the end. Yes correct Porsche isn't the finance company, it is in my case VW finance lending me the money to buy the car. The points about credit score actually came from my discussions while negotiating with them at the time I was organising it. Before this car including the 718 I bought at £45,000 I didn't have to produce bank statements or tax returns. The 718 I was literally told a check of my credit score was enough after I worked out what finance I wanted. When I quizzed them about why I was facing the checks on the 992 they said that once the value went over the £50k mark it was a trigger proof of earnings etc That was all my experience and the answers I was given. I am not at the level of affording a Turbo S yet which is why maybe I have a different finance experience, so all the best I hope you are enjoying it. Is that your first or you trading onto a new model?
@@Get10Yards it’s the new rules from the fsa .......finance companies have had their hands smacked for approving people without proper checks . Hence now it’s all about affordability and less based around ones credit score. I buy and sell my own cars fairly frequently and use a few brokers who have all mentioned the same thing, proving affordability is the key nowadays. My 992 is financed with VW financial services, when I sent over my application I included my tax return and 3 months bank statements (I wasn’t asked for them but I knew I would be) approved in 2 Hours. Not disregarding what you’re saying at all, just saying the reasons for it now. Your cayman would’ve been at a different time before the fsa clamp down, also you’re going from a 40k car to one that’s double that, with associated risk increase on their behalf so no suprise they’ve doubled down on their own due diligence. My point about the deposit to order wasn’t reference was anything to do with the finance company it was what dealers are asking to place the order with Porsche and that varies from dealer to dealer , finance is a whole different kettle of fish! My first Porsche for a while , last was a c2s 997 back in the day , I like it so far although not getting much use right now. Already looking at an f8 though 😳
I agree with what you say, sorry I missed replying about the FSA. I just thought it was high value lending, so if it is every car now then it makes sense. This is literally the most expensive car I've ever bought so I was surprised when I was being treated like I was buying a property and getting a mortgage! I'm not surprised you automatically did that, now I have been through it I will likely do the same in future. Might have to reorganise some stuff before the next time though lol. I think I was told the deposit to place an order on the Turbo standard was £10k at my dealer, I had to put down £5k just for the 992. The dealers are all group based aren't they so the parent of the group of dealers likely have an input as to how they deal with things. My dealer belongs to JCT600. I know there was some eyebrow raising when some were inflating RRP prices on special editions when they had build slots. Ah right cool, I guess it will be a big change for you compared to the last one then! I do like the F8 never seen one in the flesh yet. Very jealous! You not bothered about the Ferraris being turbo now? I know some people are very anti turbo models after the 458
When I sold my Cayman S I got a quote from ‘WeBuyAnyCar’ first and they offered $6,000 (US) less than selling the car to a Porsche dealer. The difference is that WeBuy (here in the States) is not a retail car company. They move inventory to an auction lot or similar. That means the wholesaler or auction lot also has to make money on the vehicle whereas the dealer can put the car on his lot (forecourt?). I’m guessing that you will try and sell the 992 before the balloon payment comes due? Just had my first service @ 9,956 miles. Rear tires are half gone but it passed inspection.
Yes that was my experience with the 718 I had. I got £38k at the dealer as a buy back but webuyanycar only wanted to give me somewhere around £34/35k from memory. They do indeed send them to auction here but the Porsche dealer can get more for the car on their front with a 2 year dealer warranty over a none branded dealer. So I would guess that is why they can offer more for a good car. When I worked it out it was 10% off what they could sell it for again which at the time was about £42k market value. Ah you hit the first service, you been hard on those tyres or is that just normal driving out of interest? I think I will see what happens with the world next year, the UK might face tariffs bringing cars in from Europe so my car actually might hold value better 2nd hand already being here. My plan was to move into something else before the balloon is due though, not sure what yet. Topic for a future video I think!
@@Get10Yards to your question, yes, rear tire wear is expected on the 911. Mine is a 4S but the system is rear wheel biased VS Audi, etc which are front wheel biased. That said I’ve never heard that Audi’s wear out the fronts first. Suspension geometry could be a factor, my ‘74 Europa also ate rear tires @ 10,000. I’m anticipating fewer miles with Winter upon us so it’ll be a Spring task. Your next car? Keep us posted on the candidates. I’m of the mindset these days that it should be a move up from what I’m driving now. Even though the M2 C wasn’t really a step better than the Cayman. Unfortunately, BMW wants to become a pricey Toyota. Porsche has good price points VS the ‘supercar’ genre so it may be another Porsche for me.
@@kevinmaher3709 Ah okay I will keep an eye on my rear tyres then! Yep I don't think I will be going far in mine during the winter so hopefully that will help me too. You know I am not sure, the 911 was the dream car. I am like you try to jump up when I can hit another level. So not sure really! I only have space for one car so it needs to be all the time useable. I was actually think the Taycan, by the time I can actually get one it might be trade in time on the 992. See how things pan out as this world wide pandemic hopefully winds back!
If you want to check out the video on cost I talk about the insurance. But at the moment it cost me just over £800 with admiral. Im not sure what car I will get next, I think I will be keeping this 2 years so Ive alittle more time to think about it. I was actually thinking a Taycan but I dont have a charging point being in an appartment
